- Chapter 29 - "Is it okay? Sana, it might break!"
“Wakana-san? She’s probably helping the teacher, I think?”
“Oh, I saw Wakana-san being called by a third-year student earlier. Maybe she’s helping with the student council again?”
“I don’t know. She seemed really busy since this morning.”
“I heard she went up to the rooftop.”
I thanked the classmate who told me and headed towards the rooftop. I had been waiting for the right moment to talk to Wakana-san since morning, but every time I tried to find her, she was off somewhere. Being a model student, she must be relied upon for many things. I felt a bit sorry for her.
“Who could it be?”
As I opened the door leading to the rooftop, Wakana-san, who had been looking out over the city through the fence, slowly turned around.
“It’s me.”
Was it relief I saw on her face? Wakana-san relaxed her cheeks, returning to her usual expression.
“Sana. What’s up?”
“What about you, Wakana-san? Isn’t the rooftop off-limits?”
“I was asked for a favor by a teacher. I’m on a break right now.”
I simply said, “I see,” and stood next to Wakana-san. It was my first time on the rooftop, but the view from such a high place was always spectacular. It wasn’t particularly rich in nature or illuminated by neon lights, but somehow, it felt like the world had expanded. That was the sensation.
“You were busy today, weren’t you?”
“Well… You know quite well.”
“I heard about it.”
I thought I had answered honestly, but Wakana-san let out a small sigh and turned her gaze towards me.
“…What?”
“I imagined that you were searching for me, Sana. Just a thought.”
“…It’s not like that.”
Even though I said it rather curtly, Wakana-san relaxed her cheeks just a bit again. She had been acting busy and composed today, so perhaps she was feeling tired.
Sometimes, it can be exhausting to conform to others. There are times when I feel fed up with playing the role that others expect of me. I felt the same way.
“…Doesn’t Wakana-san do anything to relieve stress during times like this?”
I asked out of curiosity. The day I first learned about Wakana-san’s true nature, I had also vented my stress by letting out some venom. But I had never seen Wakana-san do anything like that. Was she just good at hiding it, or did she have some special way of dealing with it?
“Hmm? I always do.”
“Really? What do you do? …I might want to see it.”
Oh, maybe she screams on the rooftop or something like that—
“Is that okay? Sana, you might break, you know?”
Suddenly, my body was pulled closer to Wakana-san. We were so close that our breaths mingled. Wakana-san was looking at me with a serious expression.
“W-wait, Wakana-san? What do you mean…?”
“You mean that you’re going to be my outlet for stress, right?”
“W-what are you saying…? —!”
My body was pressed more firmly against Wakana-san’s. My slightly swollen chest was about to be crushed against hers.
I fought the urge to close my eyes and looked at Wakana-san instead. Her eyes reflected only me. It seemed like she couldn’t think of anything else. They had a dangerous glint.
“Sana… Is that okay?”
I couldn’t answer. I could feel Wakana-san’s warmth through my blazer. I sensed an uncontrollable heat rising within me.
Wakana-san would break me. Surely, she would do so to the point where I couldn’t stand up anymore. She would act on her desires, doing what she wanted. I wouldn’t have the strength to resist. I would probably just go along with it. There would be none of her usual kindness. As I gasped, Wakana-san would move her body more intensely.
A sweet scent filled the air. Wakana-san leaned her small face closer. I realized she intended to unleash her overflowing desires and stress. Suddenly, I felt scared. Just before it happened, I closed my eyes again.
Surely, when everything was over, the sweet scent would dissipate, and our two scents would blend together.
“…?”
However, nothing shocking happened. Only the warmth of Wakana-san enveloped my body in a lingering moment.
“Wakana-san…?”
“Ahhh! That felt refreshing!”
Wakana-san stepped back from me, her face radiating happiness as she said this.
“…Huh? What do you mean…?”
“They say hugs can relieve stress, you know?”
She said it so casually. But I still couldn’t hide my confusion.
“Did you really think I would do something that intense to the point of breaking you?”
Wakana-san leaned in slightly, looking at me as if to confirm.
“…When you make such a serious face, it’s hard not to think that.”
“I won’t do anything you dislike, Sana. Even if I were to do something, I would definitely be gentle.”
“…Oh, really?”
Was that moment already fixed in Wakana-san’s mind? It felt both embarrassing and like something I wanted to refuse. A strange sensation.
“I guess that’s it for today’s stress relief.”
As she watched the slowly moving clouds, Wakana-san murmured to no one in particular.
It was something she did almost every day. Something like today’s hug.
“…Could it be that Wakana-san’s usual way of relieving stress is…?”
Spending time with me, perhaps? The thought made me feel embarrassed. I could feel my cheeks heating up again, which I thought had cooled down.
Wakana-san smiled gently, as if she could see through my emotions.
“It’s the most precious time, you know.”
Her hair, swaying in the wind, was incredibly beautiful. Her smile was even more radiant. Until Wakana-san touched my shoulder, I was captivated by her appearance.
