- Chapter 8 - "Oh, Were You Looking at Me Just Now?"
“It’s nice that you wanted to walk home together, Sana.”
Walking beside me, Wakana-san said this with a slight curve to her lips. Not her usual alluring smile when trying to persuade someone, but a public-friendly, demure expression that looked almost pasted on.
“That wording might give people the wrong idea, you know?”
I countered, keeping my cheerful smile intact. We were still too close to the school, and it was far too risky to talk honestly here.
And yet, Wakana-san seemed amused, glancing at me with a playful twinkle in her eyes.
“Oh? Do you really think it’s a misunderstanding?”
“Of course, it is! Geez, Wakana-san!”
“Then, would you mind walking home with me again?”
“Eh?! W-Well… umm…”
Today was just a one-time thing—for surveillance purposes. Honestly, if we walked home together every day, I wasn’t sure my heart could take it. It was probably best to turn her down gently.
“It’s fine if you don’t want to. But I’d be happy if you did. All my other friends commute by train,” she said, her expression turning meek and subdued.
That was unfair. It made it look like I was the one making her sad. Wakana-san clearly knew I couldn’t refuse when she made that face. She always knew exactly what she was doing—she was so calculating.
“O-Okay… I guess I’ll walk with you.”
“Really?! Yay!”
Wakana-san hopped lightly in excitement, a reaction so far removed from her usual elegance that I couldn’t help but worry a little.
“…You don’t have to be that happy. Your character’s slipping, you know?”
“Huh? Did you say something, Sana?”
“…No, nothing.”
So that’s non-negotiable, huh…
◆◇◆◇
After walking a while away from the school, Wakana-san’s demeanor completely changed as she slipped into her usual self.
“By the way, Sana, your chest is pretty big, huh?”
“…Well, I guess so,” I replied, slightly caught off guard.
“You don’t seem too conscious about it.”
“It’s not that I’m not conscious… it’s just…”
I glanced at Wakana-san. Honestly, she wasn’t exactly lacking in that department herself. Her blazer strained a bit over the curves of her chest, making their prominence clear.
It wasn’t some impossibly exaggerated size like in anime, but still noticeably larger than average. I didn’t think I was particularly special in comparison.
“Oh, were you just looking at mine?”
“…I wasn’t. I’m not interested.”
“Really? Because if you were, I wouldn’t mind showing you.”
Wakana-san’s gaze turned mischievous as she spoke, and she began loosening the ribbon of her blazer without warning.
Here? Outside? What was she even thinking? My eyes widened as I stared at her.
“Hey…! What are you doing in a place like this?!”
“Well, I figured it’d be okay to show you, Sana.”
“That’s not the point! I’m telling you to think about where you are!”
“So… if I consider the location, it’d be okay?”
“It’s not okay anywhere!”
Still, Wakana-san didn’t stop. The ribbon slid free with a soft sound, and she let it fall from her neck.
“––Hn. There, much better…”
Her soft sigh carried a faint, seductive undertone, and her teasing gaze pinned me in place. Slowly, she reached for the buttons of her shirt.
“No, seriously––! Someone might see!”
“No one really passes by this area, you know? Besides, if you’d just look, it’d be over quickly.”
Her words were utterly unreasonable. She’d left me with hardly any options.
“I-I’m not looking!”
That was the only answer I could give. Maybe it was just my pride talking, but––
My gaze inadvertently caught sight of her partially exposed chest. A hint of soft, pale skin peeked out between her slightly open collarbone and the delicate curve of her neck. It was unmistakably hers, a part of Wakana-san.
“…Is this still not enough?”
She whispered gently, her voice dangerously sweet, and before I could respond, her fingers moved deftly to undo another button.
“Ah!”
I caught a glimpse of her bra—a light blue one that hugged her figure snugly. The shadowy lines of her cleavage extended downward, further than I could see. If I just leaned a little closer––
“What do you think? Pretty confident about this, you know.”
“I-I don’t know! Just hurry up and button it back up…!”
“Really? But this area here, see—it’s especially soft.”
As she spoke, she traced a finger lightly along the swell of her chest, exposed just above the bra. It was a deliberately enticing gesture, and I couldn’t help but imagine what it might feel like if I touched it myself––how easily her skin might give under my fingers.
“Are you sure you don’t want to look, Sana? This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance.”
She tilted her head, peering up at me teasingly. Her chest swayed slightly with the motion, soft and full. It was impossible to ignore.
“W-Wakana-san…!”
I wanted to resist her allure, but my instincts fought against me. I could feel my resolve weakening as her teasing intensified.
Just as I was about to give in––
“––Just kidding.”
Her sudden declaration snapped me out of my daze. When I looked up, Wakana-san was grinning mischievously.
“…I knew that,” I muttered, trying to play it cool.
“Really? Because it kinda looked like you were about to take a peek.”
“I––I wasn’t!”
Her laughter rang out as she teased me further. It was clear she enjoyed every second of this. No one else had ever gotten under my skin like this before, but Wakana-san barged into my personal space without hesitation––and with both feet.
“Well, I’m heading this way.”
“…Yeah. And make sure to button your shirt properly.”
“Oh, so I can’t show anyone but you?”
“…You can’t show me either. Absolutely not.”
“Aw, too bad. Well, I’ll see you tomorrow, Sana. Bye-bye!”
As I watched Wakana-san’s figure grow smaller in the distance, I couldn’t help but sigh.
…Yeah. I’m not sure how much longer my heart can take this. Wakana-san is just way too bold.
