Ex-Girlfriend Strategy (GL) - Chapter 1
“Alright, that’s it. The departments mentioned earlier will submit a report by the end of tomorrow. The meeting was adjourned.”
Shu Nanxuan tapped the table, stood up first, and walked out of the meeting room.
Her secretary followed closely behind.
She raised her wrist to check the time.
“Secretary Li, I’m stepping out for a bit.”
After speaking, she turned toward the elevator and went straight in.
She had arranged to meet someone at the café downstairs.
There were still a few minutes until the appointed time.
But when she reached the café entrance, she received a message that the other person had already arrived.
Quite punctual, she thought to herself.
At this hour, the café downstairs wasn’t crowded.
She walked in, scanned the room, and spotted a woman sitting with her back to the entrance.
From this angle, she could only see the woman’s long, dark, straight hair.
Her intuition told her this was likely the person.
She walked to the woman’s side and asked softly, “Excuse me, are you Lawyer Yang?”
Shu Nanxuan could sense a momentary stiffness in the woman’s body after she spoke.
Then the woman, who had been looking down at her phone, stood up, faced her, and said in a gentle voice, “Nanxuan, it’s me.”
For a moment, Shu Nanxuan felt dazed.
The woman before her seemed like her ex-girlfriend.
But the fleeting daze quickly passed, and she sobered up.
This woman was indeed her ex-girlfriend, Yang Jiu, whom she hadn’t seen in five years.
Shu Nanxuan couldn’t quite describe her feelings.
She never expected that the person she was meeting today would be her ex-girlfriend.
When her friend introduced her, they only mentioned the surname Yang.
But Yang was such a common surname that it didn’t raise any flags, and she never imagined it would be Yang Jiu.
She seemed to have changed a lot.
Her demeanor was more composed than during their college days, as if time had softened her edges, making her appear much gentler.
“Let’s sit first,” Yang Jiu said softly, as it was awkward for them to keep standing while the waiter glanced their way.
Shu Nanxuan looked at Yang Jiu, her eyes carrying an indescribable emotion, and sat down across from her.
At that moment, the waiter came to take their order.
They casually ordered two coffees and fell silent.
Shu Nanxuan stared directly at Yang Jiu, as if she could see something on her face.
Fortunately, the awkward atmosphere didn’t last long.
Once the coffee arrived, Shu Nanxuan quickly shifted back to work mode.
“Lawyer Yang, hello. I’m Shu Nanxuan, the general manager of Nanhe,” she said crisply, her voice firm, as if they were meeting for the first time and had no prior connection.
Yang Jiu’s gaze darkened slightly, but she responded in a steady voice, “Nanxuan, you don’t have to be so formal with me.”
Shu Nanxuan curved her lips as if she heard something amusing.
“Lawyer Yang, if you’re here just to talk about feelings, I’m sorry, but I have other matters to attend to and won’t stay.”
Her tone was polite but ice-cold, in stark contrast to her expression.
Yang Jiu knew Shu Nanxuan was upset with her, but actually felt it still stung.
The cold words made her heart ache.
“Nanxuan…”
Shu Nanxuan picked up her phone and stood to leave.
Yang Jiu panicked, grabbed Shu Nanxuan’s hand, and hurriedly said, “Don’t go. If you don’t want to talk about that, we’ll talk about work. Work.”
Shu Nanxuan glanced at where Yang Jiu held her wrist.
Yang Jiu immediately let go and stood in front of Shu Nanxuan, blocking her path.
“I’m very skilled in corporate legal disputes. Li Lu should have told you. I’ve also brought cases I’ve handled for you to review,” Yang Jiu said.
For a moment, Shu Nanxuan wavered.
Before Yang Jiu, she had met several senior lawyers, but none felt quite right.
The previous legal director’s skills were subpar, and her first move after taking full control was to replace them.
Disputes were frequent in her industry, and the legal director was a critical role.
She hoped to find someone capable and compatible with her.
“Well?” Yang Jiu prompted.
Shu Nanxuan sat back down.
“Since Lawyer Yang is so confident, let’s see it,” she said.
Yang Jiu pulled a thick stack of documents from her briefcase and handed them to Shu Nanxuan.
“This is just a portion. I’m confident my skills can definitely help you.”
