Ex-Girlfriend Strategy (GL) - Chapter 11
The voice had not yet faded when Shu Nanxuan closed the door.
Yang Jiu stood in the hallway with a stunned expression, her mind slow as if unable to process.
Five minutes later, her expression slowly changed.
She did not want to know how the engagement rumor spread, but Shu Nanxuan had just denied it.
Even someone as slow as Yang Jiu realized it was a signal Shu Nanxuan sent.
She was not completely without a chance; she still had a chance.
If Shu Nanxuan had no intention of giving her a chance, she would not have let her join the company or denied the rumor just now.
A simple hum would have ended everything between them.
Realizing this, Yang Jiu’s low mood instantly lifted.
She pressed her forehead against the cold wall, her hand clenched into a fist, lightly tapping the wall.
The stairwell darkened again.
Yang Jiu wanted to see her again but could not bring herself to knock on the door.
At the desk, Shu Nanxuan frowned at the screen, unsure of her feelings.
She slightly regretted the two words she said at the door but also felt relieved because of them.
The person outside stood for about twenty minutes before leaving.
Shu Nanxuan glanced at the empty hallway, then left the study to sleep.
Yang Jiu, excited, barely slept.
The next day, she applied more formal makeup to hide her dark circles.
As she pressed the elevator button, Shu Nanxuan opened her door.
“Nanxuan, good morning,” Yang Jiu greeted with a bright smile.
Though she hadn’t slept well, her spirits were high, and she stared at Shu Nanxuan.
“Morning,” Shu Nanxuan replied without emotion, as if greeting an unfamiliar neighbor across the hall.
Though her tone was cold, her slightly stinging lips reminded her of what happened last night.
Yang Jiu’s actions last night were too intense.
When she woke up, she noticed a small cut on her lip, still slightly painful.
During the morning rush, the elevator took a while.
The intense gaze from the person beside her made Shu Nanxuan uncomfortable.
“If you stop staring at me, I’ll feel better.”
“You look beautiful today,” Yang Jiu said, then turned her head.
“I haven’t seen you in years. I want to look at you more.”
Shu Nanxuan’s ears, hidden under her hair, grew warm from the attention.
Fortunately, the elevator arrived, breaking the moment.
The elevator came from above, never empty during the morning rush.
Two people were already inside when they entered, standing to one side, so the two women stood on the other.
Shu Nanxuan entered first, standing in the corner.
The elevator stopped several times, and more people crowded in.
Morning time was a race for workers, and no one wanted to wait for the next one.
People kept boarding until it was nearly overloaded.
Shu Nanxuan was squeezed into the corner.
Yang Jiu stood silently beside her, using her arm to shield her from the crowd.
But with so many people, Yang Jiu was almost pressed against Shu Nanxuan.
Shu Nanxuan didn’t feel crowded, but their distance was hardly reasonable.
“Bear with it; we’re almost there,” Yang Jiu whispered, noticing Shu Nanxuan’s impatient expression.
They were so close that their perfume scents mixed together.
Shu Nanxuan’s ears, still flushed, turned redder as bl00d rushed back, but her hair hid it, sparing her embarrassment.
“Hm,” she responded softly, turning her face aside, wondering why there were so many people today, unlike before.
Meanwhile, Yang Jiu, caught up in their closeness and the scent of perfume, struggled to restrain her desire to get closer.
But recalling Shu Nanxuan’s words from last night, she forced herself to hold back.
Her slightly heavier breathing still caught Shu Nanxuan’s attention.
After a few agonizing minutes, the elevator reached the first floor.
Most people exited, leaving the elevator less cramped.
Yang Jiu stepped back, giving Shu Nanxuan some space, and the intense atmosphere eased slightly.
