Ex-Girlfriend Strategy (GL) - Chapter 12
The day passed quickly at work.
Near the end of the workday, Shu Nanxuan received a WeChat message from Yang Jiu.
The content was simple, just a few words.
“Do you have time for dinner tonight?”
Shu Nanxuan didn’t reply.
She glanced at the message, locked her phone, and set it aside to continue working.
Perhaps the lack of a response made the other person anxious.
A few minutes later, another message came, as if explaining, “I’m sorry about last night. I want to make it up to you.”
Shu Nanxuan gave a cold laugh.
Her fingers quickly typed a few words on the phone, “Apology received. Dinner isn’t necessary.”
The chat showed “typing…” repeatedly, but no message came through.
Shu Nanxuan had no patience to wait. She put the phone down and resumed work.
Nearly half a month passed, and Yang Jiu had gradually gotten the hang of her job.
Tonight, she finished an early shift and left as soon as her shift ended.
But she didn’t go straight home.
Instead, she went to a nearby mall.
………………
Shu Nanxuan had a social engagement that evening.
She was very busy, with almost no distinction between work and personal time.
Nearly all her time went to work and socializing.
Doing business was like that, very different from a regular job.
Business required broader connections and more relationships to maintain, leading to more social engagements.
Tonight wasn’t about business, just a casual dinner to bond, but it still ended a bit late.
When she opened her door, she instinctively glanced at the opposite door.
No light leaked from the security door, so she didn’t know if anyone was there.
She put down her bag, changed her shoes, and took off her blouse and tight skirt, slipping into comfortable loungewear and cotton slippers.
Only then, stepping out of the bedroom, did she feel a slight sense of ease.
As she grabbed a glass of water and prepared to sit, the door sounded.
At this hour, Shu Nanxuan knew who it was after a moment’s thought.
She didn’t want to open the door, but the knocking was persistent.
She set down the glass, walked to the door, and opened it.
As expected, Yang Jiu stood outside, arms crossed, looking at the stunned person before her.
Shu Nanxuan wore a V-neck camisole dress, the fitted gown perfectly showing her full figure.
Her flawless collarbone was exposed to Yang Jiu’s gaze, and her crossed arms slightly lifted her br3asts, making the cleavage between them appear deeper.
Yang Jiu stared without speaking, causing Shu Nanxuan to frown slightly.
“Seen enough? What’s the matter?”
Yang Jiu hadn’t expected Shu Nanxuan to have changed already.
She hurriedly averted her gaze, forcing herself not to stare at the soft, pale skin.
Her face flushed, sweat beaded on her forehead, and her eyes darted, unable to meet Shu Nanxuan’s. “I-I-I…”
Clear speech was the basic quality of a lawyer, but Yang Jiu couldn’t form a sentence.
Her mind was blank, and she stammered incoherently.
“If there’s nothing, I’ll close the door,” Shu Nanxuan said calmly, as if unaware of the effect she had.
Hearing the door might close, Yang Jiu forced herself to clear the chaos in her mind.
She shoved a bag into Shu Nanxuan’s hands.
“I’m sorry about last night. You didn’t want to have dinner, so I bought you a gift. I hope you’ll forgive me. I won’t do that again.”
This time, her words were clear, though she still couldn’t look at Shu Nanxuan.
Shu Nanxuan didn’t want to linger. She took the bag without looking inside.
“Anything else?”
“No.”
Shu Nanxuan closed the door cleanly, leaving no room for sentiment.
