Ex-Girlfriend Strategy (GL) - Chapter 15
Yang Jiu clearly had no experience in pursuing someone.
Her efforts to reconcile were like a high schooler chasing a girlfriend.
Simply put, her actions were very childish, so childish that Shu Nanxuan barely wanted to deal with her.
She created obvious chance encounters, knocked on the door late at night to give something or just say a few words.
Each time, Shu Nanxuan couldn’t help but want to roll her eyes.
Yet, she genuinely felt irritated and restless because of Yang Jiu’s behavior.
Was finding a suitable legal director hard? Yes, but not so hard that it had to be her.
When keeping Yang Jiu, Shu Nanxuan knew what thoughts lingered in her heart.
She couldn’t even fool herself into thinking she had no desire to reconcile.
But that stuck feeling in her throat made it impossible for her to act as if nothing happened and get back together.
No matter what Yang Jiu did, her silence about the past made it impossible for Shu Nanxuan to move past that barrier in her heart.
On Friday evening, Shu Nanxuan pushed away the files in front of her.
She had no patience left for the unfinished document.
In fact, over the past month, this situation often occurred.
Her phone screen hadn’t dimmed yet, displaying a message from Yang Jiu: “It’s Friday, want to have dinner together?”
Shu Nanxuan didn’t reply.
Thinking of Yang Jiu made her feel irritated.
She sat in her chair for a bit, then abruptly stood, grabbed her bag, and left.
She went straight to the basement, got into her car, opened the navigation, entered an address, turned the wheel, and drove out.
Ten minutes later, she stopped at a bar.
She parked, took off her blazer, unbuttoned two buttons of her blouse, touched up her makeup in the mirror, and went inside.
It wasn’t for anything specific; she just didn’t want to be stared at all night with her shirt buttoned up.
She felt too irritated, not wanting to go home or face Yang Jiu.
The bar was lively.
It was Friday, and workers, worn out from the week, danced on the dance floor, swaying to the music, venting high or low emotions.
Shu Nanxuan found a seat in an inconspicuous corner, ordered a drink, and stared at the dance floor, lost in thought.
She just wanted to relax and not think about anything.
Before her drink arrived, someone sat beside her.
“Hey, beauty, here alone?”
The cliché pickup line made Shu Nanxuan frown.
She had no interest in engaging, not even sparing a glance, just wanting to drink in peace.
The person, rebuffed, stood and left awkwardly, leaving Shu Nanxuan alone again.
The waiter placed her drink in front of her, opened it, and left.
Shu Nanxuan poured a small glass and downed it in one gulp.
Her tolerance was good; she wasn’t worried about getting drunk.
The cold liquid slid down her throat, making her feel slightly better.
Maybe the coolness doused that inner fire.
People came and went from her side until Yang Jiu sat beside her.
Shu Nanxuan was slightly tipsy by then, unaware of who was next to her.
Yang Jiu grabbed her hand as she reached for her glass.
“Stop drinking. Let’s go home,” Yang Jiu said.
