Ex-Girlfriend Strategy (GL) - Chapter 41
“Yang Jiu, have you received your admission notice?”
This was the fourth time Shu Nanxuan asked this question.
She and Yang Jiu were admitted to the master’s program at their own university.
She chose a master’s in finance, while Yang Jiu, unsurprisingly, pursued a master’s in law.
But for some reason, even though it was the same school, Shu Nanxuan’s admission notice arrived a week ago, while Yang Jiu’s still hadn’t come.
Life after the thesis defense was a rare moment of leisure.
Their undergraduate studies were over, and they hadn’t yet contacted their graduate advisors, so Shu Nanxuan felt quite relaxed lately.
Meanwhile, Yang Jiu was still busy with her law firm internship.
Shu Nanxuan wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but she felt Yang Jiu had become even busier recently.
Sometimes, she couldn’t even get a reply when she messaged her during the day.
“Not… not yet…”
Yang Jiu lowered her head, avoiding Shu Nanxuan’s questioning gaze, forced to lie again.
“Maybe the finance and law admission notices are sent out at different times.”
“That shouldn’t be the case. Everyone’s admission notices come around the same time,” Shu Nanxuan said, thinking it over.
“Even if it’s late, it should only be a day or two, not a whole week.”
“Besides, it’s our own school. Just ask the professor and you’ll know.”
Shu Nanxuan was a bit upset.
She felt that every time this topic came up, Yang Jiu was always brushing her off.
“You’re always busy with your internship stuff and don’t care about anything else.”
“I…” Yang Jiu hesitated, about to speak, but Shu Nanxuan cut her off.
“No way, I’m going to ask Professor Zhang what’s going on.”
Shu Nanxuan pulled out her phone, ready to send a message.
“Hey… wait…”
Yang Jiu hurriedly grabbed Shu Nanxuan’s hand.
“Don’t ask now…”
“What’s wrong?” Shu Nanxuan asked, puzzled.
If she asked now, Yang Jiu would be exposed.
Her heart raced with panic, but she forced a thoughtful expression onto her face.
“Because… because…”
Yang Jiu was acting too strange.
Shu Nanxuan narrowed her eyes, leaned closer, and stared at her with a dangerous tone.
“Yang Jiu, are you hiding something from me?”
Yang Jiu felt sweat forming.
“No, it’s just…”
“It’s just…”
Yang Jiu scratched her hair.
“It’s too late now. If the professor’s already asleep, it’ll disturb their rest.”
Shu Nanxuan glanced at the time skeptically.
It was just past ten—not too early, not too late.
For young people, it was still early, but for Professor Zhang, maybe not. “Really?”
“Really,” Yang Jiu said, holding Shu Nanxuan’s hand.
“The professor who’ll likely mentor me is Professor Zhang, so I want to make a good impression.”
Shu Nanxuan still looked at her with suspicion.
“Really. That’s also why I don’t dare ask. I’m afraid Professor Zhang will think I’m too impatient,” Yang Jiu explained further.
“You know how important it is in the legal field to have a good mentor.”
“Trust me. If I still haven’t received it in a couple of days, I’ll go ask, okay?”
Yang Jiu looked at Shu Nanxuan with pleading eyes.
With Yang Jiu’s assurance, Shu Nanxuan nodded reluctantly, still half-doubting.
“Fine, you said it. If you still haven’t gotten it, you have to ask.”
Yang Jiu set down Shu Nanxuan’s phone, her heart slowly calming.
She pulled Shu Nanxuan’s hand and led her to the bathroom.
“Alright, darling, it’s late. Time to wash up and sleep.”
Shu Nanxuan was pushed through washing up, then pushed into the bedroom, and finally onto the bed.
“Baby, it’s still early. Let’s do something else…”
