Ex-Girlfriend Strategy (GL) - Chapter 5
During university, Shu Nanxuan was the proactive one.
The barrier between them was so thin it barely existed.
Even her friends thought they were already dating, but Shu Nanxuan knew Yang Jiu was avoiding her.
University romances were innocent and subtle.
Shu Nanxuan felt too shy to confess directly, so they maintained an ambiguous relationship for nearly half a year.
But while words could deceive, the desire for closeness couldn’t.
When Shu Nanxuan grew unsatisfied with just this ambiguity and wanted to take things further, she noticed Yang Jiu avoiding her attempts at intimacy.
She didn’t know why, but as a young and impulsive person, she grew frustrated after repeated rejections of her attempts to hold hands or hug.
By the end of the semester, there were hardly any classes left.
The remaining time was for review and exams.
For students like Shu Nanxuan and Yang Jiu, this period was the most relaxed, requiring little time for studying.
But Yang Jiu stayed in the study room every day.
Shu Nanxuan joined her, sometimes reading academic books, sometimes flipping through finance magazines.
When they left the study room at night, the sky was full of stars.
Late June was already warm, but the evening temperature felt comfortable.
“Yang Jiu, it’s still early. Shall we take a walk?” Shu Nanxuan asked.
Yang Jiu checked the time.
There were still over forty minutes before the dorms closed.
Going back now meant they would part ways to their respective dorms.
“Sure, to the sports field?” Yang Jiu suggested.
Shu Nanxuan shook her head and led Yang Jiu in the opposite direction toward the school’s artificial lake.
Yang Jiu had no objections.
It didn’t matter where Shu Nanxuan wanted to go as long as they were together.
“Any plans for the summer?”
Shu Nanxuan asked after strolling for a bit.
The area had grown quieter, and she stretched, looking tired.
Yang Jiu paused before answering, “No plans.”
In truth, she had plans.
She applied to stay on campus during the break and found a summer job to earn money for the next semester’s living expenses.
“Yang Jiu, you’re not telling me again,” Shu Nanxuan said, turning to her with a hint of anger.
Yang Jiu stayed silent.
Shu Nanxuan gave up.
This was just how Yang Jiu was—when she didn’t want to talk, no amount of prodding worked.
“Fine, whatever,” Shu Nanxuan said.
Yang Jiu was terribly quiet, leaving Shu Nanxuan to do most of the talking.
Eventually, Shu Nanxuan grew tired and sat on an empty bench.
Yang Jiu sat beside her, about two fists’ distance away.
Shu Nanxuan scooted closer and grabbed her wrist.
Yang Jiu tried to pull away but couldn’t, so she shifted uncomfortably to the side.
“Yang Jiu, my shoulders feel sore,” Shu Nanxuan said, holding Yang Jiu’s arm to keep her from moving away.
“Then… should I massage them?” Yang Jiu asked, biting her lip.
They had spent the whole day in the study room, and sitting for so long could cause discomfort.
“Okay,” Shu Nanxuan said, sitting facing her with a smile.
They were close, and Yang Jiu coughed awkwardly.
“Turn around so I can massage you,” she said.
Shu Nanxuan ignored her, staring at Yang Jiu’s face.
“Massage like this. It works this way too,” she said.
Yang Jiu knew Shu Nanxuan was doing it on purpose but still placed her hands on Shu Nanxuan’s shoulders and gently massaged.
Summer clothes were thin, and Yang Jiu’s nervousness raised her body temperature, making her palms much warmer than Shu Nanxuan’s skin.
When her hands touched Shu Nanxuan’s shoulders, Shu Nanxuan’s body trembled slightly.
“Yang Jiu, are you hot?” she asked.
Her voice lost its earlier clarity, carrying a hint of hoarseness.
Yang Jiu didn’t reply.
Her fingers slowly kneaded Shu Nanxuan’s shoulders.
The motion was almost like embracing her.
As time passed, the atmosphere between them gradually heated up.
“Yang Jiu…”
Shu Nanxuan’s hand slid around Yang Jiu’s waist, her body leaning closer, her eyes fixed on Yang Jiu’s lips.
Yang Jiu bit her lip, turned her face away, and pulled Shu Nanxuan’s hand off.
“Alright, let’s head back. It’s late,” she said.
The hazy mood cleared with Yang Jiu’s action.
It was always like this—whenever Shu Nanxuan showed the slightest desire for closeness, Yang Jiu deflected and refused.
This time, Shu Nanxuan didn’t want Yang Jiu to brush her off again.
As Yang Jiu stood up, Shu Nanxuan grabbed her wrist in an instant.
Yang Jiu looked back, puzzled, but in the next moment, Shu Nanxuan yanked her back onto the bench.
Yang Jiu’s back hit the backrest, and she groaned in pain.
“Nanxuan, you…”
Shu Nanxuan didn’t wait for her to finish.
She stood, straddled Yang Jiu’s lap, held her face, and kissed her.
Yang Jiu tried to struggle, but Shu Nanxuan pinned her hands tightly, leaving her unable to move.
It was Shu Nanxuan’s first time, and she wasn’t skilled.
She only pressed her lips against Yang Jiu’s, occasionally letting her tongue slip out to lick.
Even such simple contact made both of them flush red with embarrassment.
Too nervous to remember to breathe, they parted, gasping for air.
Shu Nanxuan hugged Yang Jiu, burying herself in her arms, her body feeling weak.
But she forced herself to sit up.
“From now on, you’re my girlfriend,” she declared.
Yang Jiu felt helpless against Shu Nanxuan’s assertiveness but couldn’t refuse the idea of being her girlfriend.
All her previous rejections had already taken so much self-control.
This time, she couldn’t manage it.
