Ex-Girlfriend Strategy (GL) - Chapter 6
For a week, to quickly familiarize herself with Nanhe’s operations, Yang Jiu worked overtime almost constantly.
Leaving at nine or ten p.m. was normal, though she didn’t run into Shu Nanxuan again.
A week later, Shu Nanxuan organized a management team dinner, ostensibly to welcome Yang Jiu to Nanhe, but really to help everyone get acquainted.
Corporate drinking culture was unavoidable.
Since the dinner was in Yang Jiu’s honor, there was plenty of back-and-forth toasting.
Glass after glass of liquor went down, and Shu Nanxuan watched Yang Jiu’s face turn from pale to flushed, her eyes eventually struggling to focus.
At that moment, Yang Jiu was caught in conversation with the marketing director.
Their department handled external partnerships, which inevitably involved contracts, making the two departments closely connected.
Yang Jiu was good-looking, and years of experience made her adept at polite small talk.
She handled conversations effortlessly, no matter who she spoke with.
The marketing director, either genuinely enjoying the chat or simply drawn to her charm, rambled on for twenty minutes.
Eventually, the director placed a hand on Yang Jiu’s shoulder.
Yang Jiu, as if unaware of the gesture, didn’t pull away and continued chatting.
Shu Nanxuan glanced briefly and looked away, showing no particular reaction, only taking a large gulp of her drink.
When the dinner ended, Yang Jiu seemed out of it.
The others had secretaries to take them home, leaving only Shu Nanxuan and Yang Jiu.
Yang Jiu had come alone, but having drunk, she couldn’t drive.
Her unsteady stance irritated Shu Nanxuan.
If she couldn’t handle drinking, why drink so much?
It looked like Shu Nanxuan was mistreating her subordinate.
“Can you get home on your own?” Shu Nanxuan asked, having drunk little and remaining clear-headed.
Yang Jiu struggled to steady herself.
“I can. I’ll call a driver. Don’t worry,” she said.
She fumbled for her phone, but her vision was blurry, and unlocking it took two minutes.
Shu Nanxuan, growing impatient, snatched the phone and propped Yang Jiu up by her shoulder.
“Come with me,” she said.
The person leaning on her grinned at the words and silently nuzzled Shu Nanxuan’s neck.
Shu Nanxuan paused her steps, feeling the movement, and shrank her neck.
“Behave. Don’t move,” she said.
“Hmm…” Yang Jiu mumbled.
Shu Nanxuan glanced at her, suddenly suspecting Yang Jiu wasn’t drunk but pretending.
All she saw was Yang Jiu’s flushed cheeks and closed eyes.
So trusting—aren’t you afraid I’ll sell you off?
Shu Nanxuan thought as she walked.
A dozen meters from the car, the driver waiting there saw Shu Nanxuan supporting Yang Jiu and hurried out to help.
“Shu, let me,” he said.
“No need. Just open the door,” Shu Nanxuan replied.
The driver withdrew his hand, quickly opened the car door, and stood awkwardly, unsure if he should help.
After struggling to get Yang Jiu into the car, Shu Nanxuan was exhausted and slumped into the seat.
Yang Jiu, still restless, shifted to sit right next to Shu Nanxuan, resting her head on Shu Nanxuan’s shoulder and whimpering as if uncomfortable.
Shu Nanxuan didn’t bother with her.
Their home was close, just a ten-minute drive.
If she wants to learn, let her.
Ten minutes later, the car entered the underground parking lot.
Shu Nanxuan nudged Yang Jiu’s shoulder, but she didn’t move.
“Wake up,” Shu Nanxuan said.
Three minutes later, Shu Nanxuan gave up trying to wake Yang Jiu.
She got out, declined the driver’s help, and supported Yang Jiu’s body, moving step by step toward the elevator.
Fortunately, it was only a few meters away. Inside the elevator, she propped Yang Jiu against the wall, catching her breath.
Drunk people were heavy.
To keep Yang Jiu from sliding down, Shu Nanxuan used nearly all her strength to hold her up.
Their bodies pressed close together, occasionally shifting as Yang Jiu slipped, causing friction that brought strange sensations.
Shu Nanxuan forced herself to ignore it and quickly led Yang Jiu out when the elevator doors opened.
Finding the keys at the door was another hassle.
When Shu Nanxuan finally tossed Yang Jiu onto the bed, she was completely drained and collapsed beside her.
They lay side by side on the bed, the quiet filled only by their breathing.
Shu Nanxuan glanced at the person beside her under the dim light.
Five years had passed, and Yang Jiu seemed to have changed a lot.
She wasn’t as smooth-talking before, but now she could handle people with ease.
Yet, the habit of frowning in her sleep remained unchanged.
Shu Nanxuan raised her hand to smooth Yang Jiu’s furrowed brow, as if trying to flatten it.
After a couple of presses, she realized what she was doing and quickly pulled her hand back.
As she rested and prepared to get up, Yang Jiu rolled over, pinning her down.
A hot, liquor-scented breath hit Shu Nanxuan’s neck, and Yang Jiu mumbled unclearly, “Nanxuan, Nanxuan…”
Her warm lips brushed Shu Nanxuan’s neck as her head moved.
That single action made Shu Nanxuan feel her body react.
She shifted, trying to get up from under Yang Jiu.
Yang Jiu stubbornly held on. Shu Nanxuan struggled a bit to break free.
When she stood, her heartbeat still hadn’t calmed.
She looked at the person sprawled on the bed, her breathing uneven, covered Yang Jiu with a blanket, and quickly left the room.
When the door closed with a sound, the person on the bed opened her eyes.
There was a hint of drunkenness in her gaze, but she was far from passed out.
She shifted, trying to ease her body’s discomfort.
When Shu Nanxuan supported her upstairs, their closeness in the elevator—rubbing and holding—had already stirred her body.
Shu Nanxuan had lain so intimately beside her, smoothing her brow, and Yang Jiu couldn’t hold back, clinging to her.
She thought it would help, but now she felt worse.
She slipped off her clothes, slid under the blanket, and resignedly took a small square packet from the nightstand, opening it and slipping it onto her finger before sliding it between her legs.
Recalling the sensation of their lips touching, her fingers moved to the wetter depths.
Perhaps Shu Nanxuan’s stimulation was too intense, as this time came faster and felt stronger than before.
Her body tensed, then relaxed quickly.
“Nanxuan… hmm…” she murmured.
