Failed to Pretend to Be an Alpha and Got Marked by the Enemy (ABO, GL) - Chapter 68
Chapter 68
It took over ten minutes to wash two bowls.
Once before the meal and once after, both body and mind felt fully satisfied. With such a sweet and soft girlfriend, Ming Zhu didn’t want to leave.
But she had to go, as Xiao Ye would return soon.
She took off the cute cartoon-patterned slippers, put on her own shoes, and turned around. She saw her little girlfriend following her like a small tail and couldn’t help but smile. “You don’t need to see me off. I can go downstairs myself.”
Yu Jing’s lips moved slightly, her eyes showed reluctance, but she felt shy to ask her to stay. She compromised and said, “I’ll watch you get into the elevator.”
Ming Zhu also felt reluctant, but since it was their first day together, staying over seemed too forward. She opened her arms and said, “One more hug?”
As soon as she spoke, Yu Jing threw herself into her arms.
The girl’s hair was soft, and the shampoo’s scent was light and pleasant. Ming Zhu’s nose brushed her neck and behind her ear, catching sight of the red marks Yu Jing tried so hard to hide…
And more were concealed under her conservative shirt.
Ming Zhu’s clear eyes darkened slightly. She leaned close to her ear and whispered, “If you’re afraid of others seeing, you can use some dark concealer.”
Wrapped up so tightly, Ming Zhu worried she might get heat rash.
Yu Jing understood immediately, blushed, pushed her away, and instinctively adjusted her hair. Realizing this might seem like covering up, she glared softly and said, “It’s all because of you.” How dare she say that…
“My fault,” Ming Zhu apologized quickly, but her next words turned playful. “I didn’t expect my girlfriend to be so delicate… I didn’t even kiss that hard.”
How hard did you want to kiss!
Yu Jing couldn’t stand it, her face burning as she pushed her out.
Ming Zhu chuckled, opened the door, stepped out of the room, composed herself, turned, touched Yu Jing’s puffed cheeks, and said gently, “I’m leaving.”
Those three words snapped Yu Jing out of her shyness. Holding the door, she acted like a good girlfriend and said thoughtfully, “Drive safely.”
“Yeah.” Ming Zhu ruffled her hair.
Yu Jing stood obediently by the door, watched her enter the elevator, saw the doors close, then hurried back inside, ran to the balcony, and craned her neck to look down.
It was too dark.
Except for a few dim yellow streetlights, she saw nothing.
Yu Jing returned to the living room dejectedly, looked around the small two-bedroom apartment, and felt the house was too big for the first time.
She lost all motivation, didn’t want to do anything, and sat on the sofa in a daze.
Suddenly, she heard the door lock turn.
Yu Jing sprang up, eagerly staring at the door.
“Jingjing, I’m back!” But it was Xiao Ye who came in.
Seeing Xiao Ye drag her huge suitcase in excitedly, Yu Jing’s smile faded instantly, and she said listlessly, “Oh.”
She felt foolish. Ming Zhu took the keys when she went shopping and didn’t take hers when leaving, so it couldn’t have been her.
Xiao Ye, oblivious to her quick change of expression, changed shoes and asked cheerfully, “Where’s Sister Ming Zhu?”
Yu Jing flopped back onto the sofa. “She left.”
“Did you eat?”
“Yeah.”
Xiao Ye helped drag her suitcase to her room, came out, sniffed, and said, “What’s that smell in your room? Want me to open the door to air it out?”
Yu Jing jolted, rushed over in two strides, grabbed Xiao Ye’s hand before she could turn the doorknob, and deflected, “It’s you. You reek of smoke and alcohol.”
Xiao Ye sniffed her clothes and indeed found an unpleasant smell. But it wasn’t the same as the room’s scent!
As Xiao Ye opened her mouth to argue, Yu Jing cut her off. “It’s so late. Go take a shower.”
Interrupted twice, Xiao Ye dropped the smell issue and went to her room for clean clothes.
Yu Jing slipped into the bathroom, secretly stuffed her soaked underwear into a small basin.
She poured detergent, but Xiao Ye came in. “Are you on your period?”
Xiao Ye thought the dirty underwear was due to her period.
Yu Jing kept a straight face, said “Yeah,” walked past her, and carried the basin to the balcony.
Xiao Ye watched her stiff back and felt she missed something.
Only after undressing did Xiao Ye recall. While accompanying Shen Jiayu to a social event, she got a call from Ming Zhu that cut off abruptly. She called Ming Zhu’s name repeatedly with no response, but heard strange noises through the phone.
What were those sounds? Xiao Ye wondered.
The thin underwear spun in the breeze.
Yu Jing didn’t want to look at it, closed the balcony door, and said to Xiao Ye in the bathroom, “Remember to throw my clothes in the washing machine later.”
Xiao Ye replied, “Okay.”
Yu Jing went to her room, turned on the light, locked the door, and still caught a faint whiff of that subtle scent.
She quickly turned up the air conditioner, grabbed a perfume bottle, sprayed wildly until the scent was gone, and stopped.
She opened her suitcase, found the two suppressants, and felt both annoyed and amused.
Because of her carelessness in grabbing the wrong ones, Ming Zhu had to temporarily mark her without a suppressant. A marked Omega becomes very dependent on the Alpha. Yu Jing didn’t expect a temporary mark to have such a strong effect. As soon as Ming Zhu left, she started missing her.
But she didn’t want to seem clingy.
After unpacking her suitcase, Yu Jing sat bored on the bed, picked up the new phone Ming Zhu gave her, opened the app store, and downloaded needed apps.
She installed WeChat and logged in.
As a small-time figure, Yu Jing had few industry friends. Messages flooded in, overwhelming her.
The other four regular MCs of “Treasure Hunt” contacted her right after her incident. None believed she’d forcibly mark an Omega, a criminal act. Xiao Yihuan and Chen Chen were emotional, Peng Ze and Xie Haichao calmer, but all were worried about her.
Yu Jing felt touched reading their messages.
The six-person group chat was unusually quiet. She opened it, pressed the voice button, and said carefully, “Brother Chao, Brother Chen, Yihuan, Little Ze, thank you for believing in me. The issue is resolved, and I’m fine. I’m embarrassed to admit, during the first episode’s recording, I differentiated. I struggled to accept going from an Alpha to an Omega, so I hid it. I’m really sorry.”
Xiao Yihuan replied, “Jingjing, you finally showed up! I was so worried. I knew there was something fishy about that video. I didn’t believe you’d do that. But I didn’t expect you’re an Omega too. We’re the same kind. I’m so happy!”
Peng Ze said, “Jingjing, you hid it too well. I never sensed you’re a sweet Omega. Every time Brother Chen bullied me, you stepped up to protect me, super Alpha-like!”
Chen Chen said, “What do you mean bullied by Brother Chen? That’s too much, Little Ze. I was just teasing you. But Jingjing, you hid it so well. We partnered twice, and I never noticed you’re a sweet Omega!”
They sent voice messages. Hearing their familiar voices, Yu Jing’s lips curved upward uncontrollably.
Though they’d known each other for just over a month and weren’t fully familiar, these friends were worth keeping.
What a pity. Starting next episode, Yu Jing couldn’t join them.
Chen Chen said, “Sigh, no Jingjing next episode, and no Yihuan either. The show will be less fun.”
No Yu Jing because the production team unilaterally ended her contract. Was Xiao Yihuan also…?
Yu Jing quickly typed, “Yihuan, you’re not filming the next episode?”
Xiao Yihuan replied, “Not just the next one, I’m skipping all future ones. I’m joining ‘Youth Training Camp’ next month. Didn’t your company sign you up?”
Yu Jing stared at “Youth Training Camp” for a long time, recalling Shen Jiayu’s earlier advice, and suddenly understood.
She pulled the “Youth Training Camp” application form from her bag and checked the deadline.
Good, it was mid-month. She still had time.
Yu Jing chatted casually with the group, put down her phone, took a pen from the nightstand drawer, lay on the bed, and started filling out the form.
At the second gender blank, there was a heavy black dot from her earlier mistake. This time, Yu Jing didn’t hesitate, neatly wrote “Omega,” and filled in the other blanks in order.
Though just an internal company form, she felt a bit nervous after finishing. She checked it several times, folded it carefully, put it in her bag, and planned to give it to Shen Jiayu at the company tomorrow.
She capped the pen, stood up, and rubbed her sore waist from lying too long.
Her phone suddenly rang.
The screen lit up with “Sister” on it. Yu Jing nearly twisted her waist, lunged for the phone, and answered, “Hello?”
It connected after one ring. Ming Zhu, on the other end, paused and said, “Were you waiting for my call?”
Yu Jing realized she answered too fast. Her ears burned, and she stammered, “No, I was using my phone and just saw it.”
It wasn’t a lie. She hadn’t expected Ming Zhu to call.
Though she wasn’t intentionally waiting, she did hope Ming Zhu would reach out…
Ming Zhu didn’t question her words, chuckled softly, and said, “I just got to the hotel.”
Yu Jing felt confused. “Why are you at a hotel so late?”
Ming Zhu changed into slippers, walked into the quiet hotel room, and explained gently, “The place I stayed before had noisy neighbors upstairs, so I moved out early. I haven’t found a suitable place yet, so I’ve been staying at a hotel.”
Yu Jing didn’t even know she had nowhere to stay and was at a hotel!
She felt like a failure as a girlfriend, scratched her hair, and asked quickly, “Won’t you be bored alone at the hotel?”
Ming Zhu always lived alone and was used to it. But hearing her say this, her thoughts shifted, and she asked softly, “Why don’t you come keep me company?”
Author’s Note: Guys, I’m so fed up. I revised the last chapter a dozen times, deleted everything required, and it still didn’t pass! I don’t know if that trash platform is targeting me. Just pretend the last chapter doesn’t exist.
I’m in a terrible mood and can’t write. It’s short, sorry.
