Failed to Pretend to Be an Alpha and Got Marked by the Enemy (ABO, GL) - Chapter 71
Chapter 71
Yu Jing suspected the room’s air conditioner was broken too.
A burning heat spread from her ears to every part of her body. Ming Zhu’s teasing left her limbs weak, her mind filled with indescribable images. She tilted her head back, gazing at Ming Zhu dazedly.
Her eyes held half shyness, half enchantment, her cheeks and eye corners flushed with a rosy glow. Ming Zhu’s heart surged. She turned Yu Jing’s body, letting her sit sideways on her lap.
The sudden shift startled Yu Jing. She quickly wrapped her arms around Ming Zhu’s neck, still adjusting to the intimacy. Ming Zhu lowered her head, accurately sealing Yu Jing’s soft lips.
Their breaths and sounds melted between their lips. Yu Jing closed her eyes.
Ming Zhu kissed her restrainedly at first, her palm supporting Yu Jing’s thin back, feeling the warmth of her skin seeping through the fabric, heating her hand.
She wasn’t wearing anything underneath.
Realizing this, Ming Zhu pressed harder, wanting to deepen the kiss.
“Click—” The second bedroom door suddenly opened.
Xiao Ye, who drank too much milk tea, came out to use the bathroom. Opening the door, she saw the passionate scene on the living room sofa. Her eyes widened, and she couldn’t help but gasp, “Ah!”
Yu Jing, lost in the kiss, caught the sharp sound with her sensitive ears. She lifted her eyelids, saw Xiao Ye staring in shock, snapped back to reality, dodged Ming Zhu’s lips, left her embrace, and sat flustered to the side.
Ming Zhu’s arms emptied. She opened her eyes, saw Xiao Ye, and the intensity in her gaze softened. Despite slightly ragged breathing, she appeared calm and unaffected, as if nothing happened.
“Uh, sorry, I didn’t mean to.” Unintentionally interrupting the couple’s moment, Xiao Ye was terribly embarrassed. She turned to return to her room, then remembered she hadn’t used the bathroom. She passed them to head there.
“…”
“…”
Xiao Ye finished quickly, darted past them again, and slammed her door shut with a “bang.”
The TV screen had switched to another group of trainees. Whether Zhao Xinyu was the center of the previous group no longer mattered to anyone.
The air stilled for a few seconds.
Continuing was impossible. Yu Jing glanced at the composed Ming Zhu, her heart racing, but she pretended to be even calmer. She smoothed her wrinkled clothes, fixed her hair, sat up straight, pointed at the TV, and asked, “Want to keep watching?”
Ming Zhu wiped a trace of saliva from Yu Jing’s lips with her fingertip. “Up to you.”
Yu Jing pursed her lips, not wanting to watch with her anymore.
Being together felt too dangerous.
Yu Jing wanted to act reserved, but Ming Zhu’s constant teasing overwhelmed her. She picked up the fallen pen and paper, stood, checked the time, and said matter-of-factly, “It’s late. Want to shower first?”
The apartment had only one bathroom, so showering required taking turns.
As a guest, Ming Zhu followed the host’s arrangement, agreed readily, stood, walked to Yu Jing’s room, grabbed clean clothes from her suitcase, and entered the bathroom.
The living room sofa faced the bathroom door.
The door was frosted, obscuring the inside, showing only a vague outline. Water sounds came through as Ming Zhu undressed inside.
Yu Jing glanced accidentally, feeling hotter. She quickly moved to the other end of the sofa, grabbed the remote, and turned up the TV volume.
Ming Zhu didn’t shower long.
Opening the bathroom door, she saw her girlfriend diligently watching the show with pen and paper. Ming Zhu walked over, flicked the small bun on Yu Jing’s head, and interrupted, “Your turn.”
Yu Jing looked up.
Her eyes first caught a pair of long, straight legs, silvery silk fabric swaying between them, a slender waist, and a full, shapely chest. A water droplet slid along Ming Zhu’s alluring swan neck, over her collarbone, into the hidden area between…
Yu Jing couldn’t tell if the nightgown was too short or Ming Zhu’s legs too long. Fresh from the shower, Ming Zhu looked irresistibly sexy, and Yu Jing’s eyes locked on her.
Ming Zhu leaned down, intentionally or not, her gaze level with Yu Jing’s. “Still watching?”
Watching what?
From this angle, Yu Jing only saw the deep V revealing a dazzling expanse… Her bl00d rushed, and she turned away. “N-No, not watching.”
Before she got a nosebleed, Yu Jing turned off the TV. She ran to her room for clothes. Coming out, she saw Ming Zhu sitting on the sofa facing the bathroom door, playing with her phone. Her scalp tingled. She walked over, pulled her up, and said, “Don’t sit here. Go to my room.”
Ming Zhu, discussing the new apartment with Zhou Qi, looked puzzled. “Can’t I sit here?”
It wasn’t about whether she could—it was that Yu Jing felt like Ming Zhu was watching her shower from there.
Though she knew Ming Zhu wasn’t like that, it still felt uneasy.
“The sofa cushion’s bad, too soft. I’m worried your back will hurt if you sit too long.” Yu Jing made up an excuse, dragged Ming Zhu to the master bedroom, and shut the door.
Ming Zhu sat on Yu Jing’s soft bed, touched the new sheet prepared for her, and chuckled.
Her bed was much softer than the sofa cushion.
The bathroom still held Ming Zhu’s post-shower fragrance and steam. Yu Jing showered quickly, stopped by the master bedroom, and knocked.
The door opened instantly.
Inside, Ming Zhu looked sexy and charming, making Yu Jing, in her plain loungewear, seem bland by comparison.
Ming Zhu studied her closely. Yu Jing’s skin was naturally fair, her face dotted with water droplets, her features delicate, her brows and eyes soft, her gaze clear as a spring, exuding youthful innocence.
Ming Zhu couldn’t help but reach out, touched her tender face, and said seriously, “Jingjing, are you really an adult?”
Many girls liked saying they were sixteen or eighteen when asked about age. Yu Jing cared about her age like others and was pleased to be called youthful, but thinking of the six-year gap with Ming Zhu, she felt a bit uneasy.
She grabbed Ming Zhu’s wrist, her bright eyes fixed on her, a hint of worry in her heart. “Do you think I’m immature?”
Ming Zhu paused, pinched her pink cheek, and smiled helplessly. “Not immature. You just look so young, it makes me feel guilty, like I’m dating a minor.”
You didn’t seem guilty when you were kissing and touching me…
Yu Jing playfully winked, teasing, “Actually, I lied about my age. I’m not eighteen yet.”
“Really?” Ming Zhu showed no surprise or panic, pulled her into the room with force, and pinned her against the door. “Then I’ll just have to be a sinner.”
“Mmph…”
…
Ming Zhu’s new apartment had many issues. The next day, Zhou Qi brought a cleaning lady to tidy up and called an air conditioner repairman to check the unit. After much hassle, they could finally move in.
That evening, the four of them ate dinner in the new place to celebrate.
Yu Jing and Ming Zhu cooked together, with Yu Jing leading and Ming Zhu assisting, making four simple dishes and a soup.
Xiao Ye, who helped a lot today, was starving. Seeing Yu Jing bring out a plate of sweet-and-sour fish, her mouth watered. She raised her chopsticks to grab the tenderest belly piece, but another pair snatched it first.
Watching enviously as Ming Zhu fed the piece to Yu Jing, Xiao Ye bit her chopstick and said sourly, “Having a doting girlfriend is so nice.”
Zhou Qi, watching silently, said nothing.
As Ming Zhu’s manager, Zhou Qi only learned today that she and Yu Jing were together. She was a bit shocked but not entirely surprised.
When Ming Zhu broke her rule to shoot a couple’s magazine cover, Zhou Qi sensed her different attitude toward Yu Jing. Back then, she didn’t know Yu Jing was an Omega, so she didn’t think much of it.
What surprised her was Ming Zhu renting this place without consulting her, just to be near Yu Jing. Such impulsive, thoughtless behavior wasn’t like the calm, steady Ming Zhu she knew.
Love was indeed irrational.
Ming Zhu had a girlfriend, and Zhou Qi was happy for her. She turned to Xiao Ye and said, “We’re just two third wheels.”
Xiao Ye nodded in agreement.
Ming Zhu didn’t comment. Yu Jing felt a bit embarrassed by their teasing.
Zhou Qi and Xiao Ye were tactful, leaving after eating.
Yu Jing and Ming Zhu cleared the table and washed dishes together. While resting on the sofa, they heard a sudden meow from the second bedroom.
They exchanged a glance and walked over together.
The small room now had a cat tree, a cat bed, litter, and toys. A purebred white tabby, curled up, lifted its head at the noise, saw an unfamiliar face, stood, and hissed warily at the approaching Yu Jing.
This was the white cat Ming Zhu always mentioned.
It was asleep when Zhou Qi brought it over. Now awake, Yu Jing wanted to get closer, but its reaction stopped her. She asked Ming Zhu, “Does it bite?”
“No. It’s probably not used to you yet.” Ming Zhu put an arm around her shoulder, her tone gentle, but her face turned stern as she warned the cat, “This is Jingjing, my girlfriend. Don’t be mean.”
The cat seemed to understand, retracting its claws and teeth, lowering its head with a soft “meow.”
Yu Jing found it adorable, took a few steps closer, crouched, and boldly petted its head.
With its owner’s warning, the cat didn’t dare act up, nuzzling her hand tamely.
Yu Jing scratched its chin, heard its purring, her eyes curved, and asked Ming Zhu, crouching beside her, “Does it have a name?”
Ming Zhu smoothed the cat’s matted fur and said, “Little White.”
The cat, thinking its owner called it, perked up and meowed loudly.
Yu Jing laughed, rubbed the fluffy bundle, and teased, “That name’s so lazy.”
Ming Zhu laughed too. “I didn’t name it. Its previous owner did.”
Yu Jing blinked, whispering as if afraid the cat would hear, “Why didn’t its previous owner want it?”
Ming Zhu’s petting paused, a flicker of emotion in her eyes, and she said, “Because she went abroad.”
“Oh.” Yu Jing didn’t think much of it.
Her legs numbed from crouching. Little White, petted to sleepiness, wanted to doze. Yu Jing wanted to play more, tried picking it up, saw it didn’t resist, and happily carried it to the living room to pet while watching TV.
The TV played ‘Youth Training Camp’. The second performance ranking was out. Zhao Xinyu dropped to F-class due to a major mistake.
Yu Jing nudged Ming Zhu, sitting beside her, and said sarcastically, “Your dear Xinyu is about to be eliminated.”
Her words dripped with jealousy. Even if Ming Zhu was slow, she caught on, her gaze leaving the screen, smiling faintly. “Jealous?”
Yu Jing denied it, grabbed the remote, and deliberately watched Zhao Xinyu’s scenes.
Ming Zhu was torn between laughter and tears. She’d randomly mentioned a name last night, hadn’t even memorized Zhao Xinyu’s face, and now Yu Jing was jealous.
A jealous girlfriend needed coaxing.
Ming Zhu reached to hug her, but her phone on the coffee table rang.
Their phones sat side by side; it was Ming Zhu’s ringing.
The lit screen showed “Lin Yi.” Clearly a girl’s name. Yu Jing glanced at it, then looked at Ming Zhu subtly.
Ming Zhu’s brow furrowed slightly at the name. She picked up the phone and said to Yu Jing, “I’ll take this call.”
Yu Jing raised an eyebrow. “Go ahead.”
She thought Ming Zhu would answer there, but Ming Zhu took the phone to the bedroom and closed the door.
The cat in her arms suddenly wasn’t fun to pet. Staring at the closed door, Yu Jing felt uneasy.
Couples could have privacy, but she didn’t understand why Ming Zhu needed to avoid her for a phone call.
Who was Lin Yi?
