Failed to Transmigrate, I’m Back Again - Chapter 10
Tang Wuyun was well aware of her situation. She had stirred up a lot of trouble, none of which had been resolved, and netizens and viewers were watching her every move.
Given everyone’s loose tongues today, her presence on this variety show had undoubtedly become the hottest topic.
Even negative attention was still attention.
She couldn’t fathom what Shi Shuwu was trying to achieve by sticking so close to her in this situation.
Shi Shuwu, who was being maliciously speculated about by Tang Wuyun, desperately wanted to roll her eyes. Doesn’t this woman realize her fans in the live stream might start a fight if she keeps talking like that?
Seeing Shi Shuwu flustered, Tang Wuyun’s mood instantly brightened. She had finally managed to get the last word in.
Shi Shuwu: “We should look for alpacas in this villa.”
Tang Wuyun found the sudden change of topic bizarre. “Why alpacas? Are they a clue?”
Shi Shuwu glared at Tang Wuyun. “No, I just want to find one to spit on you.”
Tang Wuyun choked, immediately glaring back defiantly.
The two women locked eyes in a silent standoff, the atmosphere suddenly tense. Tang Wuyun couldn’t endure it and was the first to break.
“…You’re quite witty.”
So she’s resorting to indirect insults now? When she used to curse me out, she was brutally direct, sparing no harsh words.
Shi Shuwu retorted expressionlessly, “You’re being quite arrogant.”
Tang Wuyun had never acted this way when they played games together before. She used to either shower Shi Shuwu with praise or coax her with a saccharine voice.
Shi Shuwu had never experienced such condescension. In an instant, she realized Tang Wuyun’s previous behavior had been a calculated act to win her over.
Tang Wuyun felt unnerved by Shi Shuwu’s probing gaze, as if she were contemplating something profound. She instinctively took a step back, asking warily, “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Shi Shuwu scoffed and turned to leave, leaving Tang Wuyun with a bewildered view of her retreating back.
Tang Wuyun: “?”
Is she having a fit?
Tang Wuyun stood rooted to the spot, watching Shi Shuwu walk away, torn between following her and staying put.
She personally didn’t want to chase after her, but Shi Shuwu had waited ten minutes for her. If she simply walked off in another direction, the internet would crucify her again.
Tang Wuyun found it absurd that she suddenly cared so much about her online image.
After walking a few meters without Tang Wuyun following, Shi Shuwu suppressed her irritation and snapped her head around, “Aren’t you coming?”
Tang Wuyun silently trailed after her.
Once Tang Wuyun caught up, Shi Shuwu’s tense expression softened considerably. She handed Tang Wuyun the clue she had obtained.
“We found a password box under that camphor tree earlier. This is what we got out of it.”
Tang Wuyun took the silver card from Shi Shuwu’s hand.
Time Freeze Card: When used by a designated team, the remaining time for all members of that team will be frozen, ceasing to decrease. The Time Freeze Card is effective for twelve hours and can only be activated between 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM.
After reading the card, Tang Wuyun stopped dead in her tracks.
Shi Shuwu just got this card?
The card’s purpose was obvious: it could only be used during their rest period tonight. Judging by the description, there were likely four Time Freeze Cards in the game, one for each team.
In this massive Summer Villa, Shi Shuwu found one in less than ten minutes? Her luck is absolutely insane.
The production team hadn’t anticipated anyone lingering at the starting point.
Tang Wuyun felt a little embarrassed. So Shi Shuwu wasn’t just waiting for me after all.
Unaware of Tang Wuyun’s stiff expression, Shi Shuwu stroked her chin thoughtfully. “Should we try to find the remaining three cards? Even if we don’t need them, we could trade them with other teams for valuable items they have.”
For now, the clearest objective was the team mission, so discussing strategy together was perfectly acceptable.
It was just past 3 PM. With five hours of search time, renting a vehicle would give their group enough time to explore the entire Summer Villa. The other teams were bound to find some good items as well.
Tang Wuyun handed the card back to Shi Shuwu, shaking her head. “Let’s put this aside for now. We can’t be sure there are only four Time Freeze Cards, and we have a more pressing issue.”
Shi Shuwu looked bewildered. “What is it?”
Tang Wuyun gave her a how could you be so clueless? look. “The obvious problem: food and accommodation.”
They had obtained Rest Cards, but the production team hadn’t specified where they could rest or where they could eat.
Shi Shuwu’s expression turned serious, and she nodded vigorously. “You’re right, that’s a real problem.”
Having never participated in a variety show before, she had assumed they would stay in a hotel arranged by the production team and return in the morning.
Tang Wuyun found Shi Shuwu’s reaction endearing, struggling to suppress a smile. She immediately punched herself in the chest, mentally cursing herself for being so hungry that she was having thoughts about Shi Shuwu.
Shi Shuwu: “???”
Curious, she asked, “Why do you keep hitting yourself? Is that some kind of necessary action?”
Tang Wuyun had already punched herself twice—treating herself no better than she treated others.
Equal-opportunity self-abuse?
Tang Wuyun closed her eyes briefly. “I think I might be sick.”
Who else would go out of their way to make themselves miserable?
Shi Shuwu paused slightly, then nodded earnestly. “I think so too. You should get checked out after filming.”
Tang Wuyun choked, feeling utterly drained. “…You’re being awfully presumptuous.”
Shi Shuwu retorted without backing down, “And you’re being awfully rude.”
How was she being presumptuous? She was genuinely concerned about Tang Wuyun’s well-being!
Ungrateful!
Tang Wuyun gritted her teeth. “You—”
“Hey.”
“How much longer are you two going to flirt?”
Tang Wuyun’s words were cut off by Shi Zhimiao’s icy voice, which cut through the air.
Tang Wuyun followed the sound to see Shi Zhimiao sitting on a stone bench to their right, an unopened treasure chest resting on her lap.
Beneath the shade of a massive banyan tree, Zhang Rui sat beside Shi Zhimiao, her eyes sparkling with gossip as she watched the two women who seemed oblivious to anyone else.
Zhang Rui waved her hand with a mischievous grin. “Carry on, carry on.”
After Tang Wuyun’s initial brazenness, most of the other guests had abandoned all restraint. They said whatever came to mind, openly shipping the pair, knowing full well that it would be Tang Wuyun’s fans who would ultimately suffer the heartbreak.
Hearing the teasing in their voices, Tang Wuyun guiltily looked up at the sky, her gaze skillfully drifting into blankness.
After all, she had started this whole thing with Shi Shuwu. She didn’t have the nerve to retort, especially with Shi Shuwu standing right beside her. Thinking about it, Tang Wuyun felt so embarrassed she wanted to run away.
She couldn’t bring herself to face Shi Shuwu right now.
Shi Shuwu: “……”
Deciding to skip the topic entirely, Shi Shuwu walked over to the two women who looked like they were about to clash and asked Shi Zhimiao, “How did you two end up together?”
Shi Zhimiao: “We ran into each other. There’s a box here, and she’s trying to snatch it from me.”
Zhang Rui crossed her arms and raised her voice, “I saw it first!”
She and Shi Zhimiao had stumbled upon the box by chance. Zhang Rui had just pointed it out when Shi Zhimiao darted forward to grab it.
Shi Zhimiao stubbornly insisted, “I got it first! If I got it, it’s mine!”
Tang Wuyun: “……”
What kind of cheesy, cliché plot is this?
Zhang Rui glared angrily at Tang Wuyun.
Tang Wuyun was baffled by the glare.
What? What did I do? I’m just standing here and I’m getting glared at?
Zhang Rui snapped, “There isn’t a single decent person in your group!”
Shi Zhimiao nodded politely, smiling in agreement. “Thank you for the compliment.”
Tang Wuyun bristled at the insinuation. “That’s nonsense! We’re all good girls!”
The other three members froze simultaneously at her words.
Shi Zhimiao immediately retorted, “Who said anything about being a ‘good girl’? You’re the one who’s… Ugh, how disgusting!”
Tang Wuyun raised an eyebrow and snapped back, “Why didn’t you say it was disgusting when Sister Pei used to praise us as ‘good girls’?”
Shi Zhimiao was speechless. She finally understood how Pei Yinxi must have felt dealing with their rebellious behavior all those years. Being a leader who had to endure so much humiliation and shoulder such heavy burdens—it must have been incredibly difficult for her.
Zhang Rui stared at the smug Tang Wuyun, her expression unreadable. “Your skin is truly thicker than a rhino’s,” she remarked, conceding defeat.
Shi Shuwu, seeing everyone else scolding Tang Wuyun, thought for a moment. Someone had to give Tang Wuyun a way out, so she decided not to join the criticism.
Instead, she looked at Tang Wuyun with a helpless expression and said earnestly, “I’ve been telling you all along—you’re sick and need treatment. I’ll find you a doctor after we finish filming the show.”
Tang Wuyun: “……”
