Fake Love with the Movie Queen - Chapter 2
Gu Nanxian scoffed lightly, “So even an award-winning actress can’t be punctual?”
“Actress Qiu was delayed because she was rushing from another commitment,” Yu Qianxue interjected, noticing Gu Nanxian’s cold expression, trying to ease the tension. “Besides, we haven’t been waiting that long.”
As an actress—and a recent Golden Award-winning one at that—Qiu Qing’an’s schedule was naturally packed to the brim.
Yet, despite her busy schedule, she had canceled an entire month’s worth of commitments to participate in this dating show, which spoke volumes about her sincerity.
Being slightly late at the start was hardly a big deal.
Not just Yu Qianxue, but almost everyone present felt the same way.
The barrage of comments on the live stream grew even more intense:
Heartache for our actress! Finally joining a dating show only to run into someone like Gu Nanxian.
Exactly! Please don’t pair these two together later—I refuse to ship this couple even a little.
Gu Nanxian, get out of the show!
“It’s alright,” Qiu Qing’an said, her beautiful eyes curving into a gentle smile. “I really was late, and Nanxian isn’t wrong to point it out.”
She opened her suitcase and took out some items she had prepared in advance. “Luckily, I brought some gifts—consider them my apology.”
The camera crew on set immediately focused their lenses on her suitcase as she moved.
One side of the suitcase was sealed shut, likely containing her clothes, while the other side neatly held several carefully wrapped gift boxes.
Qiu Qing’an handed out the gifts to each of them.
Si Kongyuan set down the half-made coffee she was working on and accepted the gift, unwrapping it on the spot.
“Wow, it’s Aherd perfume! I’ve been wanting this but couldn’t bring myself to buy it!”
Aherd was a world-renowned brand, and just this single bottle of perfume cost at least five figures.
Given Si Kongyuan’s earnings from streaming, buying it wouldn’t have been impossible—but her expenses were high, leaving little left over, so she had to cut back on unnecessary luxuries.
Seeing Si Kongyuan open her gift, the others gradually unwrapped theirs as well.
Surprisingly, each gift was different.
Yu Qianxue received a silk scarf, Zhu Ningyue got a brooch, and Ge Jiang was given a small decorative piece.
Though the gifts varied in type, they were all roughly equal in value and unexpectedly well-suited to their recipients.
“Aren’t you going to open your gift, Nanxian?” Yu Qianxue asked curiously, noticing Gu Nanxian sitting motionless on the sofa.
Gu Nanxian’s expression remained indifferent. “What’s there to see?” She seemed utterly unimpressed by the gift.
Her reaction was so dismissive that even Ge Jiang, who usually avoided confrontation, couldn’t help speaking up. “Nanxian, maybe you should open it and take a look?”
Everyone else had opened theirs—Gu Nanxian’s refusal made her stand out in a way that could easily lead to exclusion on a show like this.
Gu Nanxian frowned but still didn’t move.
The live chat erupted with criticism.
Fortunately, the show’s staff arrived just in time to announce the schedule for the dating show’s live broadcast.
The entire show would run for a month.
During that time, the production team would arrange various tasks designed to increase the “chemistry score” between the paired guests.
Once the “chemistry score” was maxed out, the guests could go on a date arranged by the show.
The couples who successfully matched by the end would also receive a mysterious grand prize from the production team.
“Falling for You,” as a live-streamed dating show, truly tests each guest’s ability to think on their feet.
Since it’s broadcast live, almost every action of the guests is captured on camera.
Although most participants are actors, it’s inevitable that some “off-camera” behaviors might slip out in daily life.
One careless move, and it’s easy for their image to “collapse.”
The host carefully explained the key points guests should pay attention to during the dating show. They also emphasized that if anyone felt uncomfortable or encountered an unexpected situation, they could withdraw from the live broadcast at any time.
The production team wouldn’t force anyone into anything and would do their best to accommodate each guest.
They hoped all guests could present their reactions naturally and authentically to the audience.
After thanking the sponsors and the various broadcasting platforms, the host announced the first task of the day:
“Since all six guests are participating in a dating show for the first time, our first task is very simple:
Staff will distribute paper and pens to each guest. You’ll need to draw your favorite fruit on the paper.
Remember—do not write your name or any words on it.
Once the staff collects the drawings, they’ll shuffle them and arrange them in random order.
Following the sequence, each guest must select a ‘heart-fluttering drawing’ from the others (excluding their own).
That’s the full breakdown of today’s task.”
After reading out the instructions, the host looked at the six guests present. “If anything is unclear, feel free to ask now. I’ll explain in more detail.”
“What happens after this task?” Sikong Yuan asked curiously.
The host gave a mysterious smile. “The results are a secret.”
She glanced at the other guests. “Since there are no further questions, shall we begin?”
The others sat quietly on the sofa, ready to follow instructions.
Seeing this, the host signaled for the staff to escort each guest to separate rooms.
A cameraperson followed behind every guest for close-up filming.
The live stream was split into six sections, each dedicated to one guest.
Viewers could choose to enlarge any feed based on their preferences.
Unsurprisingly, the most-watched stream belonged to the award-winning actress Qiu Qing’an, followed by Sikong Yuan and Ge Jiang.
The least-viewed, without a doubt, was Gu Nanxuan’s.
Most of those who clicked into her stream just wanted to see what she drew—so they could brace themselves.
They wanted to make sure their favorite celebrity wouldn’t pick her drawing as their “heart-fluttering choice.”
After seeing Gu Nanxuan’s artwork, these fans breathed a sigh of relief.
Her drawing was downright awful—anyone with even a shred of taste would never choose it.
Gu Nanxuan set down her brush, handed the drawing to a nearby staff member, and returned to the villa’s living room.
She was the first guest back and resumed her seat on the sofa.
Qiu Qing’an came out second and sat down beside her.
“What did you draw?” Gu Nanxuan whispered, leaning in close.
Her voice was soft, and she was far enough from the recording equipment that the live audience couldn’t make out her words.
But from her lips, they could roughly guess—prompting a flood of displeased comments:
Don’t give hints, Best Actress!
“Ahhh, what is Gu Nanxuan doing?! Best Actress, you must not soften your heart!”
The host had been monitoring the live stream and, upon seeing the flood of comments, stood up and said officiously, “Contestants, please do not share information with each other.”
Gu Nanxuan sat back up, looking somewhat disgruntled.
Qiu Qing’an’s elegant face carried a faint smile. “You’ll understand when you see it.”
The live chat collectively breathed a sigh of relief, though a few observant viewers sensed something amiss:
“Why do I feel like Best Actress Qiu and Gu Nanxuan seem to know each other?”
Other fans immediately countered:
“Don’t overthink it—there’s no way!”
“If Best Actress Qiu knows Gu Nanxuan, I’ll livestream washing my hair while standing on my hands!”
More and more people in the chat began making similar vows.
Ge Jiang and Zhu Ningyue finished their drawings and left the room one after the other, with Yu Qianxue following behind them.
Only Si Kongyuan, eager to showcase herself, lingered inside for quite some time.
Noticing this, the host walked over and lightly knocked on the door to hurry her along. “If you’ve finished, please come out as soon as possible.”
Si Kongyuan apologized and quickly handed her completed drawing to a staff member before stepping out.
“I like quite a few fruits, so I took some time deciding. My apologies,” she said with a regretful smile toward the camera.
Her fans in the live chat immediately flooded the screen:
“Yuanyuan’s drawing is amazing!”
“You can tell at a glance who put in effort and who didn’t.” This was clearly a dig at someone.
Seeing that everyone had gathered, the host brought over a cardboard box. “Now, it’s time for everyone to draw lots.”
The six exchanged glances.
“Should Nanxuan go first?” Yu Qianxue suggested, seeing that no one else spoke up. “How about we draw in the order we arrived at the villa?”
“I think Qianxue’s arrangement is very appropriate,” Qiu Qing’an agreed softly.
With her approval, the others naturally had no objections.
Gu Nanxuan stood up and reached into the box.
