Fake Love with the Movie Queen - Chapter 6
Seeing her look so furious yet unable to vent, Gu Nanxian hummed a cheerful tune with great delight.
Zhu Ningyue couldn’t hold back any longer and punched her lightly on the back.
They often played around like this, always holding back their strength, so it wasn’t a hard hit.
But the live-stream audience had no way of knowing that, and the chat exploded instantly:
What’s happening now? Why are they fighting?
Gu Nanxian must have said something to piss Zhu Ningyue off.
Even if she’s angry, she shouldn’t hit someone—this is live!
Comments flew fast and furious, and Zhu Ningyue was quickly labeled as having a “spoiled rich girl temper.”
After being hit, Gu Nanxian wanted to retaliate, but when she turned around, she saw the massive camera lens pointed right at them.
Her clenched fingers loosened, and she gritted her teeth at Zhu Ningyue, “You got lucky this time. Just wait till we’re alone—I’ll settle this with you then!”
Zhu Ningyue raised an eyebrow haughtily. “Bring it on!”
The two glared at each other before turning away.
In the live stream:
Wait, why do I suddenly ship them?
To the person above: Shipping everything will be the death of you.
I don’t care! I watch dating shows to ship couples—enemies-to-lovers, here I come!
Unaware that she and Zhu Ningyue were already being paired as the “#Enemies” couple, Gu Nanxian pulled out her phone, dodged the camera, and sent a message to Qiu Qing’an:
Wuwu, I just got hit, it hurts so much~ crying.jpg
Qiu Qing’an replied almost instantly:
What happened?
Who hit you?
Should I come find you right now?
Though Gu Nanxian was straightforward, she wasn’t the type to pick fights. With the cameraman following her, how could she have gotten bullied?
Even after sending the messages, Qiu Qing’an was still worried.
Sikong Yuan, walking beside her, noticed her sudden pause. “What’s wrong?”
Qiu Qing’an smiled faintly. “It’s nothing.”
Just as she was about to discuss with the production team and turn back to find Gu Nanxian, her phone dinged with a new message.
Gu Nanxian:
Who else could it be but that awful Zhu Ningyue! pouting.jpg
She took a cheap shot when I wasn’t looking!
Seeing the familiar name, Qiu Qing’an relaxed, though she couldn’t help but laugh helplessly.
These two were always bickering, but they knew their limits—it couldn’t have been too serious.
Still, this was a live show with countless viewers watching.
She’d been worried when she heard they were both joining this dating program, and now her fears had come true.
Truly, not a single day went by without some drama.
Qiu Qing’an replied:
There, there, it’ll stop hurting soon. head pat.jpg
Try to tone it down a little, or you might end up trending again.
Reading the caring words, Gu Nanxian’s heart instantly melted with sweetness, and the anger from Zhu Ningyue’s provocation vanished.
She responded:
Mhm, I know. well-behaved.jpg
After sending it, she put her phone away and shot Zhu Ningyue a smug look, her triumphant expression unmistakable.
Zhu Ningyue took one glance at her face and knew she’d secretly tattled to someone—who must have showered her with sweet nothings.
Ugh! How dare she flaunt having a wife!
She could’ve been out with Ge Jiang right now if it weren’t for this wretched woman ruining their first “date”!
Gu Nanxuan walked into the supermarket entrance under Zhu Ningyue’s hateful gaze, her mood exceptionally cheerful.
The villa chosen by the Falling for You production team was quite remote. The nearby supermarket wasn’t large, but it was clean, bright, and stocked with exquisite goods neatly arranged—clearly catering to a high-end clientele.
Casually pushing a shopping cart, Gu Nanxuan breezed past the entrance without checking if Zhu Ningyue was following and immediately began selecting items.
To prevent the guests from splurging extravagantly and disrupting the show’s dynamics with their wealth, the production team had imposed certain limits on their living expenses.
The six of them had a daily budget of 1,000 yuan, which, when divided among three meals, came to roughly 330 yuan per meal.
Now that they were split into three groups, each team had only about 110 yuan for shopping.
Gu Nanxuan clutched the 110 yuan in her hand, eyeing the price tag of 120 yuan on the shelf, and frowned slightly.
With this little money, they couldn’t even afford a single item.
She turned to ask the cameraman trailing behind her, “Are we really not allowed to spend our own money?”
The cameraman, dutifully shouldering his equipment, pulled out a small sign from somewhere that read “NO.”
Gu Nanxuan: “…”
She regretted bringing the cart in—there wasn’t a single item in this supermarket priced below 100 yuan.
With a dispirited expression, she pushed the cart aside and continued forward empty-handed.
Zhu Ningyue finally caught up. “Why aren’t you picking anything? The stuff here doesn’t seem that expensive.”
“If you want to buy something, go ahead.” Gu Nanxuan shoved the 110 yuan into her hand.
Zhu Ningyue looked at the money, then at the price tags on the shelves: “…”
“Wait,” she exclaimed, “we only have this much?”
Gu Nanxuan spread her hands and shrugged.
A supermarket employee, drawn by the commotion, approached politely. “Is there anything I can help you with?”
Zhu Ningyue gave her an awkward smile. “No, thank you.”
Once the employee left, she whispered, “Is the production team this stingy? Then where did all the money I sponsored go?”
“No matter how much you sponsored, this is all we get for living expenses.” Gu Nanxuan pointed at the cameraman. “It’s part of the show’s arrangement.”
The cameraman nodded in agreement.
Zhu Ningyue: “…”
Gu Nanxuan ignored her and headed to the fruit section.
There were no loose fruits here—each one was wrapped in cling film and neatly boxed.
Under the bright lights, they looked fresh, plump, and juicy.
Gu Nanxuan called over an employee and asked, “Can these fruits be sold individually?”
The employee gave her a skeptical glance but maintained a polite smile. “I’m sorry, but no.”
Noticing the cameraman behind Gu Nanxuan, she courteously added, “But if you have such a request, I can ask our manager for you.”
After a moment’s thought, Gu Nanxuan gave up on buying anything here. “No need, thank you.”
She called out to Zhu Ningyue, who was still wandering around the supermarket. “Let’s go.”
Zhu Ningyue asked, “We’re not buying anything?”
Gu Nanxuan: “Everything here is too expensive. Let’s try somewhere else.”
“Oh.” Zhu Ningyue had no objections—she wouldn’t have known how to pick things out anyway.
The two walked out of the supermarket and strolled along the street, checking out the nearby shops. They found two fruit stores.
Gu Nanxuan glanced at the store signs and chose the one that looked more appealing to her.
“Welcome,” greeted the shop assistant politely inside.
The fruit store wasn’t very big, and with several people plus the camera equipment, it felt a bit cramped.
One of the female shop assistants asked curiously, “Are you filming a show?”
Both Gu Nanxuan and Zhu Ningyue were exceptionally striking in appearance, standing out noticeably among the others—it was hard not to notice them.
Plus, they had a cameraman with them, which led to her guess.
Gu Nanxuan pointed to the shelf. “Could you help me pick a few peaches?”
The shop assistant, seeing that she didn’t respond to her question, felt a little disappointed.
She pulled out a plastic bag and asked, “We have several varieties of peaches. Which kind would you like?”
Gu Nanxuan looked them over and pointed to the mid-priced ones. “This one, please.”
Zhu Ningyue, noticing her shopping, squeezed in beside her and chimed in, “I want cherries!”
Gu Nanxuan replied coolly, “If you want them, go get them yourself.”
Zhu Ningyue pouted and walked over to the cherry display. Just as she was about to reach out, she suddenly remembered something. “Can I eat them before paying?”
“You know you haven’t paid yet?” Gu Nanxuan shot her a glare. “Have you forgotten how much money we even have?”
Zhu Ningyue looked aggrieved. “Then why are you only buying what you like?”
Gu Nanxuan: “Because I’m the one buying.”
At that moment, the shop assistant weighed the peaches. “That’ll be 96.8 yuan. Cash or mobile payment?”
Gu Nanxuan patted her pockets and suddenly remembered she had given the money to Zhu Ningyue. She had no choice but to hold out her hand to her.
“What?” Zhu Ningyue looked at the hand extended in front of her and swatted it away. “I’m not falling for that!”
Gu Nanxuan was speechless. “What are you thinking? I’m asking for the money.”
Zhu Ningyue also remembered the money was with her, and her eyes immediately lit up with triumph as she looked at Gu Nanxuan. “Since I have the money, I call the shots.”
She turned to the shop assistant and declared, “I want cherries, not peaches.”
The shop assistant hesitated and glanced at Gu Nanxuan. “Um…”
Gu Nanxuan: “…Do as she says.”
Today was her mistake—letting Zhu Ningyue take control of the “financial power.” Otherwise, she wouldn’t have given in so easily.
The shop assistant had no choice but to put the weighed peaches back and pick out some cherries instead.
She checked the scale. “That’ll be 156.7 yuan. Cash or mobile payment?”
“Huh?” Zhu Ningyue leaned in, incredulous. “How is it so expensive?”
The shop assistant patiently explained, “Cherries are 120 yuan per pound, and this is a little over a pound. Our prices are clearly marked—we won’t overcharge you.”
Zhu Ningyue checked the number on the scale—it did say 156.7. She puffed her cheeks. “Then take some out. I only want 110 yuan’s worth.”
The shop assistant followed her instructions, removing some cherries and carefully adjusting the amount. “Now it’s 109.8 yuan. Is that okay?”
Zhu Ningyue nodded and handed over the money.
The clerk needed to give them change, so she simply grabbed a tangerine from the shelf. “How about I give you this tangerine to make up for the remaining twenty cents?”
Gu Nanxuan didn’t have any objections.
Zhu Ningyue took the cherries from the clerk, then accepted the tangerine. “Thanks!”
Viewers in the livestream watched them finish their shopping and couldn’t help but comment:
These two only bought this little bit of fruit—is it really enough for all six of them?
Who knows? But I think Ge Jiang’s group bought quite a lot.
Actress Chou is already back with a full haul!
A few more comments scrolled by, and the already sparse audience in their livestream dwindled even further.
