On his way back to his boarding aunt’s house after school, Yue Ran encountered Liu Yugang. Liu, acting overly familiar, slung his arm around Yue Ran’s shoulders. Anyone seeing this would have thought the two were the best of friends!

Liu Yugang said amiably, “Yue Ran, buddy, I’m a bit short on cash lately. Lend me some money, will you?”

It seemed Liu had noticed Yue Ran making some small profits from his class business and wanted a cut.

Yue Ran thought to himself, What a shameless scoundrel, but outwardly, he remained calm. “I don’t have any money,” he replied.

Liu finally dropped the act, revealing his true colors. He coldly threatened, “Yue Ran, unless you want to taste my fists like Zhang Qiang did, hand over the money quietly. I’ll let you go, and I might even look out for you at school.”

Yue Ran was seething with anger but kept his composure. “Who said I want to leave? I’m staying right here. The money’s in my bag—take it if you dare.”

When his threats failed, Liu made a grab for Yue Ran’s backpack. Yue Ran dodged, swiftly picking up a large brick from the roadside. They say no martial art can withstand a brick, he mused.

Liu was momentarily stunned but quickly dismissed the idea—timid Yue Ran wouldn’t dare hit him with it, not in a million years. Boldly, he charged forward, only for Yue Ran to hurl the brick straight at him.

Liu, moving too fast to stop or dodge, took the brick square to the head. Bl00d trickled down his forehead. Fortunately, the distance was short, and the throw wasn’t strong enough to cause serious harm—but the sight of bl00d was alarming.

Next time, I should hold back a bit, Yue Ran told himself, though Liu really had it coming.

Liu was terrified. He’d never met a girl as ruthless as Yue Ran. The weak fear the tough, the tough fear the reckless. Bl00d dripped from his head to his face and the ground, but Yue Ran knew it wasn’t life-threatening.

As Yue Ran stepped closer, Liu scrambled backward, hurling curses. Without hesitation, Yue Ran tore a strip from Liu’s shirt sleeve and bandaged the wound to stop the bleeding.

Before leaving, Yue Ran issued a warning: “Liu Yugang, if you ever try to rob me again, a brick will be the least of your worries.”

Though Yue Ran couldn’t actually do much more, a good scare was necessary. If Liu dared extort classmates now, who knew what he’d do as an adult?

Rounding the corner, Yue Ran was startled to find their dear class president—the school beauty—standing there. She must have witnessed the brick incident and seen Yue Ran patch Liu up afterward.

The class beauty and monitor was indeed a bit afraid of Yue Ran now, worried that she might get a brick to the head next. After much hesitation, the monitor finally decided to stay and warn Yue Ran, though she was also afraid Yue Ran might lash out and attack her in desperation.

As Yue Ran reached the corner, the monitor forced herself to appear calm and blocked her path. Despite her fear, she put on a brave face and warned, “Yue Ran, I saw you just now—you hit Liu Yugang so hard his head was bleeding.”

Yue Ran was already in a foul mood. She replied impatiently, “So what if you saw? Are you planning to report me to the homeroom teacher? Even if you do, Liu Yugang won’t admit I hit him.”

Yue Ran was certain Liu Yugang wouldn’t say anything—after all, he had been the one to rob her first. If he went to Teacher Wang, he’d only be walking into a trap. He wasn’t that stupid.

The monitor frowned at Yue Ran and said disdainfully, “Yue Ran, all you’re good at is bullying your own classmates.”

Yue Ran couldn’t help but laugh at her words. “Mind your own business, Monitor. When your grades surpass mine, then you can lecture me.”

Once again, the monitor was ruthlessly humiliated by Yue Ran. But on second thought, she realized Yue Ran was right—her grades weren’t as good, so what right did she have to judge her?

When Liu Yugang returned to school after his head injury healed, he became much more subdued. At the very least, he no longer dared to provoke Yue Ran, that lunatic.
