- Chapter 10 - Celestial Wave Force and Bosol Particles
When I told him about the Nayuta realm, Sario was left astonished.
“It is truly rare for the Rikager Celestial race to teach others about Celestial wave force and how to utilize the Nayuta realm. We’re aware of its existence, but it’s merely superficial information, and compared to the knowledge held by the Celestial race, it might as well be nothing.”
It seems that this is indeed a rare occurrence. From this, one can understand how grateful Zorofiene was to us.
I consulted with Sario regarding traveling to a more technologically advanced nation.
“We will use a small spacecraft to fly out of the spaceport and search for a temporal jump field generator.”
“Perhaps it would have been better if we asked that Celestial race member to move us to another star system.”
I felt a bit of regret.
“If we did that, the small spacecraft would have been left behind. It would be troublesome to be moved to another star system without any money to speak of.”
“Can’t be helped. We should look for a place ourselves then. The problem now is the monsters.”
Since we’ve spent nearly all our ammunition for the space machine guns, we would need another weapon. When I asked if we could defeat monsters with the 5 cm light-ray laser cannons mounted on the small spacecraft, I was told that they could only take down small Space Cliones.
“Can’t we somehow defeat them using your new power, Zen?”
“My power? Ah, you mean the Celestial wave force? But I don’t know how to use the Celestial wave force to repel monsters.”
Sario nodded in response.
“There’s this representative technique used by Dragon-Slayer mercenaries that’s called ‘Particle Shot.’ It involves accelerating a mass of Bosol particles using Celestial wave force to attack monsters.”
Among the Dragon-Slayer mercenaries, who are basically space adventurers, there are those who excel at utilizing what can only be described as magical power, the Celestial wave force. They are referred to as ‘Celestial Wave Force Users’ or ‘Mages.’
I decided to simply call them ‘Mages.’ The foundation of a Mage is the control of Celestial wave force. From that day on, I began practicing the control of Celestial wave force while researching ‘Celestial Wave Force Propulsion Engineering.’
The power conduits are always connected to the Nayuta realm, so when I open the control gate, Bosol particles and Celestial wave force would flow into my body, but the amount I can control is only what trickles in when I open the gate by two or three percent.
This control gate is like a faucet; when turned slightly, water trickles out, but when fully opened, an immense amount of Celestial wave force rushes into the body. By the way, there are relatively few Bosol particles that trickle in.
I referred to the current trickling state as ‘Release Level T.’ ‘T’ stands for Trial, and from there, I defined ‘Release Level 1’ to ‘Release Level 10’ in ten percent increments. This method seems to be standard among the Celestial race.
I began practicing to control Celestial wave force at Release Level T. At first, I had no idea how to control it, and Bosol particles and Celestial wave force merely leaked out of my body.
However, after continuing in that state for a day or two, something was born within me. It was a field of consciousness that resembled sensory organs akin to tentacles. I decided to call this new sensory organ system the ‘Consciousness Field.’
I tried to extend the Consciousness Field to control the Celestial wave force. I struggled to gain control, and the Celestial wave force ended up spilling out from the Consciousness Field. I repeatedly attempted to gather Celestial wave force.
After about five days of practice, I finally grasped the trick to controlling the Celestial wave force. The key was to visualize unifying the Consciousness Field and my own mind.
Having unified the Consciousness Field and my mind, I expanded the Consciousness Field outside my body. I extended the radius of the Consciousness Field to one meter, then two meters, reaching a limit at four meters.
The Celestial wave force energy I could handle at Release Level T should be sufficient to defeat a Space Clione. I continued practicing to manipulate Celestial wave force and Bosol particles freely.
Meanwhile, Sario began modifying the small spacecraft. He set up a combat room about five meters from the bow on the upper part of the hull. Surrounded by a dome-shaped transparent high-strength resin, it created a room that made one feel like they were floating in space. While skilled Mages fight directly in outer space, inexperienced Mages apparently fight from within a combat room instead.
By the time those renovations were completed, I had acquired a relatively good grasp of basic Mage skills. I had gained the ability to convert Celestial wave force into propulsive force. As a result, I became able to use the simplest tactical magic technique, ‘Particle Shot.’ Tactical magic techniques refer to the skills used by Mages during combat.
Around this time, I also discovered something called the Generation Method within the ‘Celestial Wave Force Propulsion Engineering’ knowledge I had been researching. This method allows one to learn how to move large objects like ships using Celestial wave force.
When the Generation Method is executed, it seems to form an acceleration field circuit within the mind. The Generation Method is like an application installation program that is activated using willpower.
I hesitated about what to do, but I decided it would be better to acquire the acceleration field circuit to quickly master ‘Particle Shot.’ I made this decision because I had information that executing the Generation Method would not be dangerous.
I executed the Generation Method with my willpower. At that moment, my consciousness blacked out, and I collapsed. When I regained awareness a few minutes later, I felt a severe headache.
“Zen, are you okay?”
I heard Sario’s voice.
“It hurts; I didn’t expect to experience such a headache. This wasn’t mentioned in the information.”
“What the heck are you saying? You collapsed all of a sudden. Just what happened?”
I explained everything to Sario. Upon hearing my words, Sario let out a sigh. Seeing such gestures made me think that the Kuusi tribe is actually pretty similar to humanity. About thirty minutes later, the pain subsided.
“I’m going to practice ‘Particle Shot.'”
After calling out to Sario, I changed into the Anubis-made spacesuit and headed out of the small spacecraft toward a large factory. A wall of that factory had a massive hole, revealing the vastness of space outside.
Wearing the spacesuit, I opened the control gate to Release Level T while looking at space through the transparent helmet. Then, Bosol particles and Celestial wave force flowed into my body. The Bosol particles leaked out from inside the spacesuit to the outside.
I expanded the Consciousness Field and gathered the Bosol particles overflowing from the spacesuit to form a spherical particle projectile. I then accelerated that particle projectile rapidly with Celestial wave force and shot it forward. The particle projectile began to soar into space, emitting a faint light.
The particle projectile flew at a speed akin to that of a person walking. It was so slow that I began to question whether it was more accurate to say it was drifting rather than flying.
“Pathetic. At that speed, even an elementary school student could hit it back with a bat.”
It was so underwhelming that I criticized it myself. After firing about ten particle projectiles, I started to understand what I needed to do.
After firing about forty particle projectiles, my concentration began to wane. At the beginning of my practice, it took about seven seconds to fire one shot, but that had shortened to about four seconds. According to Sario, if I couldn’t shoot in about 0.3 seconds, I wouldn’t be considered a proper Mage.
By the way, the acceleration field circuit had nothing to do with ‘Particle Shot.’ I couldn’t apply the acceleration field circuit to ‘Particle Shot.’ So, I decided to stop practicing ‘Particle Shot’ for the day.
Afterward, I continued practicing ‘Particle Shot’ every day, and after about forty days, I was finally able to shoot satisfactory particle projectiles. Their speed exceeded eight times the speed of sound. They would be useless in the vastness of space without that kind of speed at the very least.
When I returned to the small spacecraft, I found Sario instructing the maintenance robots to create a sleep capsule.
“How’s the ‘Particle Shot’ training going?”
“I think I can reasonably take down a Space Jellyfish about eight meters in size with it now.”
“Shall we start preparing to head into space with the small spacecraft then?”
