“Do you have any ideas?”

“It seems that this spaceport doesn’t have a temporal jump field generator, so I was thinking of looking elsewhere.”

“Specifically, where do you plan to search?”

“The most likely place would be a space station, but there are goblins there…”

After discussing with Sario, we decided to head to the sixth planet. The sixth planet is a rocky planet like Earth, and it seems the Anubis race mined resources there. That planet had no atmosphere and its gravity was about eighty percent of Earth’s.

The gravity of Earth was a figure derived from examining my body. By studying the genes and structure of the body, it seems one can understand the environment in which they were raised to some extent.

There is a small space colony near the sixth planet. However, it has been completely destroyed by the Celestial race, and even the goblins deemed it unnecessary to investigate the wreck.

That space colony seemed to have numerous shipyards, and we thought there might be some devices related to spacecraft left behind. However, since the space colony was thoroughly destroyed, the chances of finding anything intact were slim.

This information was derived from the basic data stored in the control brain of the small spacecraft and observations of the current situation.

“The problem is that we don’t have much propellant for the plasma engine.”

“Are you saying we don’t have enough propellant to reach that space colony?”

“No, we have enough propellant for that. However, if we use it at that rate, it will run out quickly.”

“Then what should we do?”

“Zen, can’t you use the ‘Celestial Wave Force Drive’?”

The Celestial Wave Force Drive is a spacecraft propulsion method that utilizes an acceleration field generator, performed not by machines but by the abilities of a mage instead. The time has finally come for the acceleration field circuit that I painstakingly obtained to be useful.

There was a passage leading from the hangar to the outside of the spaceport, so we took that route to bring the small spacecraft outside.

“Zen, go to the combat room that we created on the upper part of the hull and operate the ship from there.”

“Understood.”

I moved from the cockpit to the combat room and sat down in the seat. The combat room is surrounded by a dome-shaped transparent high-strength resin, giving me the feeling of floating in space.

“I’ll decide the course from here first, and then we’ll accelerate.”

“Got it.”

Sario piloted the small spacecraft, and it began to move. In the Space Alliance, there’s a unit of speed called ‘Varch.’ ‘Varch 1’ represents a speed of 0.1 percent of the speed of light, which serves as the basic unit for space travel.

Varch 1 corresponds to a speed 874 times that of sound. The small spacecraft accelerated to about seven times the speed of sound using propellant, and then we planned to accelerate to Varch 5 using the Celestial Wave Force Drive.

“Zen, start the acceleration.”

“Understood.”

I opened the control gate of the power conduit to level T and began to channel Celestial wave force into the acceleration field circuit engraved in my mind. After setting the small spacecraft as the target for acceleration, I felt the Celestial wave force enveloping it, and then we began to accelerate.

However, the amount of Celestial wave force that can be used at level T is not substantial, so we wouldn’t achieve much acceleration with it. Therefore, I switched to level 1. When I practiced ‘Particle Shot,’ I could only control the Celestial wave force that flowed in at level T. However, with the help of the acceleration field circuit, it seems I could significantly enhance my control.

I thought that if ‘Particle Shot’ could utilize the acceleration field circuit, it might be able to take down large monsters in one hit, but since that kind of usage isn’t possible, there’s nothing I can do about it.

I could only raise the speed of the small spacecraft to nearly Varch 1 after about thirty minutes of effort. At that point, my mental energy was depleted, so I returned to the cockpit.

“Ah, I’m dead tired.”

I sat in the cockpit seat and voiced my exhaustion.

“Good work out there. If we perform the Celestial Wave Force Drive three or four more times, we should reach the planned speed.”

Sario informed me while looking at the piloting monitor.

I lay down in the rest room behind the cockpit to recover, and repeated the process of performing the Celestial Wave Force Drive once I regained my energy.

After flying at Varch 5 for about a day, we decelerated using the Celestial Wave Force Drive method and finally docked at the destroyed space colony near the sixth planet.

We changed into our powered armor and ventured into space. Using our thruster packs, we entered through a large hole opened in the space colony, where numerous wrecks of spacecraft floated around.

Desperately searching among the debris, we looked for a temporal jump field generator. After about twenty days, we discovered the wreckage of what appeared to be a cruiser.

“This cruiser looks promising.”

In the area that used to be the shipyard of the space colony, two cruisers were drifting apart, disassembled.

“To me, it only looks like a pile of junk.”

Most of what I could see was destroyed, and it seemed there were no intact machines.

“Don’t give up. If we search patiently, we might find something.”

So, we continued searching for several more days. We finally discovered a temporal jump field generator.

“I found one!”

Hearing Sario’s voice, I hurried over. In front of Sario was a machine about three meters wide and two meters tall. However, a piece of steel debris seemed to be embedded in the edge of the machine.

“Wait, isn’t it broken?”

“I think it can be repaired with only this much damage. Let’s take it back to the small spacecraft.”

We transported the temporal jump field generator to the small spacecraft. We also found several wrecks of other temporal jump field generators, but the one from the cruiser seemed to be in the best condition.

Since the parts from the other wrecks might still be usable, we had the maintenance robots disassemble them and brought back the intact parts to the small spacecraft.

I instructed the maintenance robots to examine the temporal jump field generator. This was an investigation to see if it could be repaired. Three maintenance robots began disassembling and investigating it. These military maintenance robots were manufactured to maintain the military vessels of the Anubis race. Therefore, knowledge about the advanced technology used in the temporal jump field generator was packed into their artificial brains as well.

However, that knowledge was limited to the techniques necessary for maintenance, and they couldn’t create a temporal jump field generator from scratch. If they could, we would have acquired enough wealth to live comfortably for a lifetime.

While searching for the temporal jump field generator, we also discovered other devices that seemed useful. Among them were eight intact charged particle beam cannons. Charged particle cannons require a vast amount of energy and are often installed with a dedicated ultra-compact fusion reactor.

These eight charged particle beam cannons were about seven meters long and were often mounted as secondary weapons on combat corvettes that are about one hundred fifty meters in length. We brought all of them back to the small spacecraft.

By the way, it’s certainly strange to use the term ‘beam’ for a charged particle cannon since it fires plasma instead, but it seems to be a long-standing tradition to use the term ‘beam,’ just like with laser cannons.

While Zen and Sario were investigating the destroyed space colony, a space battle between the Orc and Goblin races had begun near the fourth planet.

The second-class reconnaissance ship Gyogal was observing the fierce battle. As a reconnaissance ship, Gyogal didn’t actively participate in combat as it was considered non-combatant ship. Instead, it was using its excellent radar systems to send information to the allied fleet.

“Captain Boburo, the radar has detected a massive object.”

“Is it reinforcements from the Orc race?”

“It doesn’t seem to be the case.”

“Could it be a giant monster?”

“It’s a creature about six jiras and three kilometers long.”

Captain Boburo immediately contacted the flagship Galchura, where Fleet Command was located.
