- Chapter 8 - An Unexpected Encounter
The reconnaissance unit leader Valbo hurriedly returned from the spaceport alone. Seeing this, Boburo, the captain of the second-class reconnaissance ship Gyogal, called Valbo over to report.
“I ordered you to exterminate the Space Jellyfish. Why did you come back alone?”
“Captain, everyone in the unit is dead. I fought desperately, but there was nothing I could do alone.”
“Tch, as expected, subordinate soldiers from the lower class are useless. There’s no choice; I’ll send the mobile space fleet instead.”
Captain Boburo used the mobile space fleet to annihilate the Space Jellyfish. However, this was only a temporary measure, and unless the spaceport was completely repaired, the invasion of Space Jellyfish could not be stopped.
By that time, the battle with the orcs had intensified, and it was decided to postpone the exploration of the spaceport. The reconnaissance ship Gyogal left the vicinity of the spaceport and headed toward the front lines.

With our worries about air, food, and water alleviated, we resumed our exploration of the spaceport.
“Are we free now?”
Sario shook his head.
“We still aren’t free. As long as there are conditioning terminals on the back of our necks, we’ll remain lower-class citizens.”
“Isn’t there any way to remove them?”
“If we try to remove them carelessly, they might explode.”
I shuddered.
“That’s… we have to find a way to remove them as soon as we can.”
According to Sario, it was possible to remove them in developed countries with advanced medical technology.
It seems we must escape the Gorgona star system and head for a developed country. But we can’t travel to other star systems with the small spacecraft we found. So, what should we do?
I asked Sario about it.
“A small spacecraft alone won’t do. I think we need to find another way.”
We thoroughly investigated the interior of the spaceport and discovered another repair facility. There lay a partially dismantled space cruiser.
“Looks like our luck’s taken a turn for the better.”
Sario suddenly said so. I didn’t understand what he meant, but I thought it had something to do with this space cruiser. It seemed to be an elegant spacecraft about fifty meters long.
We boarded the dismantled ship and searched for usable parts. Then, we discovered a Luon Drive on this space cruiser. The Luon Drive is a propulsion device used for traveling through trans-dimensional space. Trans-dimensional space is a higher-dimensional space that allows for faster-than-light travel.
However, the Luon Drive alone cannot achieve faster-than-light travel. A device for transferring or transitioning into trans-dimensional space is necessary. This is called a trans-dimensional jump field generator. Unfortunately, the space cruiser lacked said trans-dimensional jump field generator.
“Let’s take what we’ve found to the small spacecraft.”
We transported the Luon Drive to the small spacecraft and had the maintenance robots get it operational. The maintained Luon Drive was installed in the power room and modified to be controllable from the cockpit. If it had just been Sario and me, it would have been impossible, but with the numerous maintenance robots, the modifications were completed quickly.
By that time, I noticed that there were no longer any goblins around the spaceport. Most of the goblin vessels had headed to the fourth planet, which had become a battlefield with the orcs.
We searched for a trans-dimensional jump field generator, but could not find one, leaving only one uninvestigated location left. It was a heavily locked room, and the only way to enter was to destroy the door.
“Why is this room locked so securely?”
“Something very important must be stored inside.”
“Important… what could it be?”
“Maybe a new type of weapon. Or perhaps treasure.”
We discussed what method we could use to open it and concluded that we had no choice but to destroy it. We had goblin explosives on hand, so we would use those.
After placing the explosives on the special alloy door, we took cover. Then, I pressed the detonation switch. An explosion occurred that shook the entire spaceport, and debris flew around in the weightless environment. Once the chaos settled, we approached the door.
The parts that had secured the door were destroyed, and the special alloy door had fallen into the corridor. It seemed that the parts securing the door had been unable to withstand the explosion.
“Alright, let’s go inside.”
“Yeah, let’s see what’s there.”
As we entered through the destroyed entrance, we found a corridor. We passed through the corridor filled with floating debris and emerged into a slightly larger room. In that room was a capsule shaped like an egg, about three meters long.
Next to the shining bluish-silver capsule was a nuclear fusion reactor, which seemed to be supplying it energy. I wondered why only this nuclear fusion reactor was operational, but there was a large fuel tank behind it. It appeared that fuel was continuously being supplied from that tank. Perhaps there were operational maintenance robots here as well.
The nuclear fusion reactor developed by the Anubis race must be supplying vast amounts of energy to the capsule. I wondered what that energy was being used for.
At that moment, I heard a voice in my head.
[Goblins, my subservient soldiers. I wish for you to listen to my request.]
I looked around, thinking it couldn’t be a goblin, but there was no one there.
“Could it be coming from inside the capsule?”
[Please follow my voice.]
Having been told that, I found myself unable to resist. I staggered toward the capsule and began to perform complex operations on the control panel embedded in its surface.
“Zen, what are you doing?”
Hearing that voice snapped me back to reality.
“Huh, what the–?”
Cracks began to run across the surface of the capsule. The floor shook and rippled. Then, a large fissure appeared, gradually widening.
“W-what’s happening?”
A person emerged from the capsule. A naked woman. She possessed an otherworldly beauty, and upon closer inspection, her long ears were the only feature that differed from a human. She reminded me of an elf from fantasy stories.
I was confused, witnessing something supposedly impossible. The room was a vacuum with no air. A naked person thrown into a vacuum should die immediately, yet she appeared completely unfazed.
She was clearly not an ordinary human. She exuded a presence that no human could possess. Sario was trembling slightly.
“Are you from the Celestial race?”
[Yes. I am Zorofiene of the Rikager Celestial race.]
