Fell in Love with the Crazy Young Lady - Chapter 35
Yang Zhao hadn’t woken up, but she was already sweating profusely, holding her tightly. She seemed to be having some kind of nightmare, her expression pained, brows tightly furrowed.
“Yang Zhao?”
Seeing no response from Yang Zhao, Hua Man forcibly pried her arms open and quickly used her phone to contact Yu Shan.
Yu Shan arrived quickly, clearly having just crawled out of bed with her hair sticking up messily. She didn’t bother fixing it, and was followed by a doctor.
“The young miss hates having sweat on her body. Why didn’t you wipe her clean?”
Seeing Yang Zhao’s hair stuck to her face with sweat, Yu Shan couldn’t help but glare at Hua Man in exasperation.
She hurriedly went to the bathroom to fetch a basin of water and a clean towel, then shoved them into Hua Man’s hands. “Quickly, wipe the young miss down!”
“Me?”
Hua Man was surprised. She thought Yu Shan would insist on doing this herself.
“Of course you.”
Although Yu Shan was reluctant, she was clear-headed. The young miss would only bring Hua Man along more often in the future, not less. She had to properly train Hua Man and teach her how to take care of the young miss.
No matter what, she couldn’t let the young miss suffer any discomfort.
“Hurry up,” she urged.
Hua Man had no choice but to wet the towel and clumsily start wiping Yang Zhao’s face.
Even though she was using normal pressure, as soon as she wiped once, a mark appeared on Yang Zhao’s face.
Yu Shan, who had been craning her neck to supervise, immediately jumped up. “Be more gentle!”
Hua Man furrowed her brows. “Got it.”
Her movements became much lighter.
The gentler she was, the slower she went. And the slower she went, the longer she stared.
That flawless face, flushed unnaturally from the fever, took on a startling allure. Like a mountain spirit.
Originally she thought she only needed to wipe the face.
The doctor finally made his diagnosis – it was just a low-grade fever caused by catching a chill. Physical cooling methods would suffice. If the temperature rose or the low fever persisted, then medication could be given.
Make sure to stay hydrated in the meantime.
Yu Shan was worried the condition might worsen later, so she arranged for the doctor to stay nearby.
Just as she was about to start wiping down Yang Zhao’s body herself, Yang Zhao finally woke up.
“Young miss.” Yu Shan’s eyes welled up with tears.
“I’m not dead, why are you crying?” Yang Zhao waved her hand. “Go back. Let Hua Man take care of me.”
“She’s so clumsy, she even hurt you just wiping your face,” Yu Shan couldn’t help but tattle.
Yang Zhao put on a serious face. “I’ll punish her later.”
Yu Shan was finally satisfied. After giving Hua Man detailed instructions, she left.
Only Yang Zhao and Hua Man remained in the room. Hua Man waited quietly to see how Yang Zhao planned to punish her.
“Why are you just standing there?” Yang Zhao raised her eyes wearily. “Wipe me down, I feel awful.”
She hated that sticky, sweaty feeling on her body.
Hua Man responded softly, “Alright.”
Wiping down a sleeping Yang Zhao versus a conscious one was a completely different experience.
Yang Zhao seemed to have no concept of embarrassment. When she said to wipe her body, she simply took off her robe, exposing her beautiful body without reservation.
She stared directly at Hua Man. “Go ahead.”
Hua Man pressed her lips together. Being stared at like that made it very difficult to start.
“Hurry up.”
Seeing her hesitation, Yang Zhao frowned.
Taking a deep breath, Hua Man tried to ignore Yang Zhao’s gaze and gently began wiping her down.
“Too gentle,” Yang Zhao criticized.
She reached out and gripped Hua Man’s chin, saying seriously, “I like it when you’re rougher.”
Since she had said so, Hua Man increased the pressure and wiped more quickly.
Physical cooling didn’t require wiping the chest area, so she deliberately avoided it. But Yang Zhao was unsatisfied again: “Why aren’t you wiping here?”
She directly pointed at her own chest. “There’s sweat here too.”
The soft area sank in under her touch. Hua Man’s face grew hot.
Did she have any sense of shame at all?!
“The doctor said to avoid your chest and abdomen for physical cooling,” Hua Man didn’t dare look anymore and simply grabbed the blanket to cover her. “You should rest.”
Just as she was about to get up, her wrist was grabbed by a burning hot hand.
She looked down at Yang Zhao, who had partially sat up.
Hua Man was so nervous her mind went blank. She thought Yang Zhao would insist on being wiped down, but instead she changed the subject:
“Sleep with me.”
Hua Man was stunned for a few seconds, not expecting Yang Zhao to switch topics so abruptly. She didn’t agree right away. “I need to take care of you and check your temperature periodically.”
“It’s just a fever,” Yang Zhao said dismissively.
Seeing Hua Man still trying to refuse, she grew impatient. “I’m not asking you, this is an order.”
“I’m not asking you either,” Hua Man lowered her eyes, her attitude unusually firm. “My job tonight is to take care of you, not sleep with you.”
Yang Zhao felt like the fever must have fried her brain and she was starting to hallucinate. She let go of Hua Man and rubbed her aching temples. “What did you just say?”
“I’ll go get you an ice pack.”
Hua Man turned and left.
Yang Zhao: “…”
Was Hua Man taking advantage of her illness to start walking all over her? She was getting bolder and bolder.
But with her limbs weak and head throbbing, she didn’t have the energy to confront Hua Man right now. She could only lie limply in bed.
After lying quietly for a while, she couldn’t help saying:
“I feel awful, call the doctor over.”
Footsteps approached. Yang Zhao turned her head slightly to see Hua Man walking towards her. Hua Man’s expression was serious as she pressed down on Yang Zhao’s shoulder, pushing her back onto the bed. Before Yang Zhao could react, an ice pack was placed on her forehead.
“It’s cold.”
She shook her head unhappily, trying to dislodge the ice pack.
“Don’t move.”
Her head was quickly held still, Hua Man’s tone forceful.
Hearing this, Yang Zhao’s eyes flashed as she stared intently at her. “I said I feel awful. Call the doctor over.”
“The doctor left medicine.” Being stared at like that made Hua Man uncomfortable. She turned to get the fever reducer, then went to pour some tea. Her voice softened. “Will you take the medicine?”
Seeing her return to her previous meek demeanor, Yang Zhao’s eyes flickered. “Fine, help me sit up.”
Hua Man reached out to support her, helping her up.
When it came to taking medicine, Yang Zhao wasn’t fussy. She swallowed it efficiently in seconds, drinking the entire glass of water, then lay back down.
This time she obediently stayed still.
Sick, she looked listless, her face pale and eyes dull. She actually appeared somewhat pitiful.
Hua Man tried to suppress that thought.
Yang Zhao could never truly be pitiful. She couldn’t be fooled by Yang Zhao’s current weak appearance.
The room grew quiet.
After taking the medicine, Yang Zhao quickly fell back asleep.
Listening to Yang Zhao’s gradually steadying breaths, Hua Man discreetly let out a sigh of relief. She sat silently by the bed, observing closely: probably still uncomfortable, even in sleep Yang Zhao’s brows remained furrowed.
She didn’t start talking in her sleep like they show on TV, delirious with fever. She slept quietly, looking harmless.
In the second half of the night, Yang Zhao’s temperature didn’t rise further. The medicine seemed to be taking effect, her fever coming down quickly. The tight furrow between her brows slowly smoothed out.
Hua Man took out her phone to message Yu Shan:
–
The fever has gone down.
After a moment’s thought, she also sent a photo of the temperature reading to increase credibility.
Yu Shan clearly hadn’t slept yet and immediately replied: Thank you for your hard work, please take good care of the young miss!
Hua Man didn’t respond further. She was about to put her phone down when her gaze inadvertently swept over Yang Zhao, making her pause.
As if possessed, she raised her phone and secretly took a photo of Yang Zhao sleeping.
It was just a casual snap, but the result turned out quite nice, with a sense of peaceful contentment.
Feeling sleepy, Hua Man put away her phone. Instead of getting in bed, she lay down directly on the tatami mat beside it.
After the long night, her eyelids grew heavy. Within seconds of lying down, she fell into a deep sleep.
This sleep was very unsettling.
She seemed to be having a nightmare, but upon waking with a start she couldn’t recall any of the dream’s contents. She only felt a sense of palpitations and panic that took a long time to subside.
“Had a nightmare?”
A slightly hoarse voice suddenly sounded by her ear.
Hua Man’s gaze sharpened. Only then did she realize Yang Zhao was sitting cross-legged on the floor in front of her, wrapped in a small blanket.
“You were talking in your sleep just now.” Yang Zhao reached out, her fingertip stopping at Hua Man’s still-furrowed brow. “You were calling for your mom.”
She sighed. “You really are a mama’s girl, huh?”
“To be honest, seeing that mature face of yours frowning and calling for mommy was quite shocking.”
“You’re lying.”
Hua Man didn’t believe she would do something as childish as calling for her mom in her sleep, so she was certain Yang Zhao was teasing her.
“How could that be?” Yang Zhao sighed softly. She tossed aside the small blanket and crawled towards Hua Man, squeezing onto the tatami mat with her. “How could I lie?”
As she spoke, she hugged Hua Man tightly. “Manman, how could you wrongly accuse me?”
She hugged so tightly that Hua Man could barely breathe.
What was she up to now?!
Hua Man pulled away slightly. “What are you doing? Are you feeling better?”
But the next second Yang Zhao hugged her tightly again. Her tone was certain: “You had a nightmare.”
“Yes, I did have a nightmare.” Not sure why Yang Zhao was suddenly acting crazy again, Hua Man decided to concede first. Whether true or not, she’d agree for now.
Yang Zhao continued: “You miss your mom.”
This Hua Man really couldn’t nod to. “You must have misheard…”
Although she couldn’t remember what kind of nightmare she’d had, missing her mom could definitely be ruled out as an option.
Unfortunately, before she could finish speaking, Yang Zhao bit down on her lip.
It was a merciless bite. Hua Man felt a sharp pain that instantly jolted her fully awake. She tasted bl00d, and could clearly feel Yang Zhao sucking away the bl00d that welled up from her lip.
Like a vampire.
Yang Zhao quickly released her and lay on top of her, staring intently with eyes still stained with Hua Man’s fresh bl00d.
At this moment, Yang Zhao still carried an air of aggression. It seemed if Hua Man didn’t nod, she would immediately bite down again. With her lip still stinging, Hua Man turned her head away and chose to concede again: “Fine, I miss my mom.”
Yang Zhao was satisfied.
She lowered her head again. Hua Man tensed up nervously, her toes curling as she braced herself to be bitten once more.
But this time, Yang Zhao’s kiss was gentle.
A complete contrast to before, the kiss seemed to soothe and coax. It was so tender it nearly made Hua Man melt.
Like a flame, burning until her whole body felt like it would dissolve.
Hua Man unconsciously parted her lips.
So hot, so scorching.
Had she forgotten something?
A burning hand pressed against her chest. Her breathing instantly became erratic. Just as she was about to kiss back, in the next moment, she suddenly came to her senses.
Yang Zhao felt so hot – could her fever have returned?!
