Fell in Love with the Crazy Young Lady - Chapter 5
Her tone was assertively unyielding. Yang Zhao had been domineering for over twenty years and naturally did not allow anyone to defy her.
After Hua Man sat down across from her, the displeasure on her face finally dissipated.
A waiter came forward to set up cutlery for Hua Man. Looking at the exquisite knife and fork, the thought of whether it should be knife on the left and fork on the right or vice versa flashed quickly through Hua Man’s mind.
As the most ordinary of ordinary people who didn’t even have a formal job yet, she had naturally never been to this kind of Western restaurant before. She had long forgotten all about Western dining etiquette, to the extent that now being suddenly put on the spot, her whole demeanor was awkward.
After hesitating for a moment, she raised her eyes to look at the young miss.
But unexpectedly, the other party had been watching her the whole time. Who knows how long she had been looking. Even after being caught, Miss Yang didn’t seem to find anything inappropriate and looked at her openly, asking in surprise: “You don’t know how to use the cutlery?”
Seeing that she had guessed correctly, Hua Man nodded honestly: “Yes.”
“How rare, there are actually still people who don’t know how to use a knife and fork nowadays.” The young miss frowned with her beautiful brows, resting her chin on her hands, “Manman, even my servants at home know how to use them.”
Hua Man immediately felt embarrassed.
The expression on the young miss’s face was very serious, as if she was genuinely puzzled and also just stating a fact.
After pondering for a moment, she lowered her gaze: “I’m sorry.”
She had done too little preparation, and indeed hadn’t thought that being a bodyguard would require dealing with these kinds of situations.
The sound of a chair being pulled back came from across the table. Hua Man looked up to see the young miss getting up from her seat. She instinctively started to stand up, but the young miss was quicker, gently placing her hand on Hua Man’s shoulder to push her back down.
The young miss’s soft body pressed against her back, and Hua Man’s entire body froze.
Those slender, delicate hands picked up the knife and fork, gently placing them in her hands. Like teaching a child how to hold a pen and write, she wrapped her entire hand around Hua Man’s, gently guiding her to cut.
Hua Man’s mind went blank.
The young miss’s fragrance enveloped her, making it impossible for her to notice anything else.
It wasn’t until her hand was released that she realized the steak in front of her had already been cut into very even pieces. The young miss picked up the fork, and although her movements were casual, they gave off an elegant and noble feeling.
“Try it.”
The steak was pressed against her lips. Knowing this wasn’t up for discussion, Hua Man didn’t bother to resist. She lowered her eyes and bit into the steak.
It was tender and juicy, with a rich meaty flavor.
Naturally, a restaurant that the young miss would go to such lengths to come to wouldn’t have bad food.
But if the young miss asked her to evaluate it, what should she say to not appear too unsophisticated?
Before she could think of a strategy, she saw the young miss sit back down across from her. The fork that she had just bitten quickly entered the young miss’s mouth.
Hua Man lowered her gaze in panic, feeling the heat on her ears. She knew her ears must have turned red again, betraying her.
Weren’t rich people supposed to be the most germaphobic?
Hua Man couldn’t help but raise her head again.
The young miss seemed to sense her gaze and suddenly looked up at her. Then, as if suddenly realizing something, she handed the fork back to her, smiling: “Sorry, I took it out of habit.”
She didn’t look the least bit sorry, and since she had used the fork, Hua Man found it really difficult to use it again with a normal mindset.
Seeing Hua Man’s hesitation to take it, Yang Zhao raised an eyebrow: “You find me disgusting?”
Before Hua Man could speak, she smiled: “Even if you do, you’ll have to put up with it.”
Hua Man: “…”
Taking the fork, she lowered her head and no longer paid attention to the young miss, just focusing on eating.
She decided to throw caution to the wind and no longer cared about Western dining etiquette, eating however was convenient.
In the end, she even turned to the manager standing nearby: “Excuse me, do you have chopsticks?”
The smile on the manager’s face froze for a moment.
The young miss said with a smile: “Get her some chopsticks.”
“Certainly, please wait a moment.”
The waiter quickly brought chopsticks. Hua Man tried her best to ignore the young miss’s gaze and ate as she pleased.
She should let the young miss see her uncouth behavior, so she wouldn’t always want to make fun of her.
Just as this thought arose, the young miss’s voice sounded in her ear: “So cute.”
Hua Man, who had been frantically stuffing food into her mouth like a starving ghost, suddenly paused and stiffly raised her head.
After making eye contact with the young miss, she saw the young miss smiling and nodding: “Don’t doubt it, I’m talking about you.”
Hua Man: “…”
Did the young miss have some kind of cognitive problem?
Because of that comment, Hua Man almost forgot how to use chopsticks, let alone dare to eat as freely as before, for fear that the young miss in front of her would really find that kind of behavior cute.
Fortunately, the young miss didn’t eat much. Sensing her put down her cutlery, Hua Man immediately followed suit.
“Is Manman full?” the young miss asked her.
“I’m full.” Trying hard to ignore that intimate nickname, Hua Man struggled to maintain her expression and stood up first.
“That’s good.” Yang Zhao’s eyes curved in a smile, “You need energy to work.”
Hua Man’s heart skipped a beat.
Work?
What work?
What else could a bodyguard do besides protect their employer? Hua Man suddenly had a very strong sense of foreboding.
–
Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the most high-end luxury club in A City.
This was clearly where some rich young people were gathering.
And it was a birthday party too, that beautiful cake was really eye-catching.
Feeling the tense atmosphere caused by the young miss’s uninvited arrival, Hua Man discreetly took a step forward.
“Ah Zhao, why are you here?”
Someone came forward, wearing an unnatural smile.
Yang Zhao smiled and said: “I heard you all gathered here to celebrate that little b1tch Zhao Yang’s birthday with a party. As her good sister, of course I had to come.”
The young miss spoke gently, but Hua Man felt her scalp tingle hearing it.
The expressions on everyone else’s faces also became stiff.
Standing to the side, Hua Man felt nervous for these people. Clearly, the young miss had come to confront them.
“Ah Zhao, don’t be like this.” A man with dyed yellow hair walked forward, “We all grew up together as friends. Yang Yang hasn’t offended you, and Aunt Qin also hasn’t…”
Slap—
A merciless slap landed on the man’s face. His handsome face quickly showed clear finger marks, indicating how much force the young miss had used to hit him.
Hua Man immediately became extremely alert, afraid the man would retaliate against her reckless employer.
Surprisingly, although anger was evident on the man’s face, he didn’t lash out. Instead, a woman suddenly rushed out from behind him, red-eyed and looking pitiful.
“Sister, I accept that you don’t like me and target me, but why do you always hurt the people around me?! They’re innocent!”
Clearly, this was Zhao Yang.
She looked like the typical white lotus often seen in TV dramas – thin and delicate, with long black straight hair, a face free of makeup, and clear doe-like eyes. She was a completely different type from the young miss.
The young miss’s beauty was extremely aggressive, domineering and flamboyant.
Hua Man suddenly became very curious how the young miss would respond to this white lotus type.
Just as this thought arose, the familiar sound of a slap rang out again.
Zhao Yang’s face was slapped to the side, bl00d already seeping from the corner of her mouth, her fair face quickly swelling and reddening.
“You don’t want me to hurt the people around you?” Yang Zhao said with a smile, “Then stop hypocritically hiding behind others. Next time, just stick your face out directly, so I don’t waste my time.”
As she spoke, she raised her hand and grabbed Zhao Yang’s hair, dragging her towards another direction.
Zhao Yang let out a shrill scream. Hua Man knew she shouldn’t defy her employer, but at this moment, she still couldn’t help but reach out to stop her.
Yang Zhao stopped in her tracks.
She looked down at the hand gripping her arm, narrowing her eyes slightly.
“Let go.”
It was a cold tone different from before.
Hua Man was startled by the chill in her eyes and instinctively let go.
The next second, Zhao Yang was unceremoniously shoved face-first into that beautiful cake by the young miss.
“Celebrating?” Yang Zhao sneered, “You’re not worthy.”
–
The young miss was incredibly strong in combat, able to take on ten opponents single-handedly without any problem. Hua Man had no opportunity to be of use. By the time they returned to the car, she still hadn’t recovered from the shock.
“Hua Man.”
The young miss called her name in a cold tone.
Hua Man lowered her gaze, knowing the young miss was going to reprimand her.
After all, she hadn’t helped when the young miss was hitting people, and had even tried to stop her.
But if she could do it over again, she would probably make the same choice.
The car fell silent as the young miss didn’t speak again for a long time. Unable to bear the prolonged silence, Hua Man couldn’t help but look up.
The young miss immediately turned her head away, her tone icy: “If what happened earlier happens a second time, I’ll fire you on the spot.”
Hua Man was stunned.
Both because of the unexpectedly light reprimand, and because of what she had glimpsed just now.
The young miss’s eyes seemed to have turned red.
Was it from anger, or…
After a while, she responded softly: “Mm.”
Perhaps she wouldn’t even need the young miss to fire her, she might not be able to stay on her own.
This time the young miss took action herself, but what about next time? If the young miss ordered her to bully someone, should she listen to her conscience or just do the job she was paid for?
She probably couldn’t bring herself to hit people casually like the young miss did.
Thinking this, her gaze unconsciously fell on the young miss again.
She was still facing the window, her jaw tense, seemingly still angry. The atmosphere in the car was oppressive, but in Hua Man’s mind, she kept seeing those reddened eyes.
Would the young miss cry?
Like Zhao Yang did earlier, crying pitifully.
The young miss’s indignant voice suddenly rang out: “If I had known you would be so useless, I should have brought Yu Shan instead.”
She seemed extremely dissatisfied with Hua Man’s performance earlier, turning her head to glare at Hua Man with great disappointment.
Hua Man: “…”
So the young miss was still reviewing the earlier situation?
What was she thinking earlier?
Why did she think the young miss was sad just now?
This person was probably only regretting not hitting harder, right?
Hua Man lowered her eyes wordlessly, at a loss for what to say.
Suddenly, her gaze paused.
The young miss’s hand resting on her leg was curled up. Her skin was so fair that the redness and swelling on her palm was especially noticeable.
