Fell in Love with the Crazy Young Lady - Chapter 6
Hua Man pressed her lips tightly together.
Even though she knew the young miss had brought this upon herself, looking at the scene before her, she still couldn’t help but feel concerned.
Hua Man tried hard to ignore it, but her gaze kept involuntarily drifting there.
This wasn’t really her fault, was it?
Hua Man pressed her lips together again. If there was anyone to blame, it was the young miss for having such fair skin and delicate complexion. The young miss was clearly the aggressor, clearly the victor, so why did she look so pitiful?
As soon as this thought arose, Hua Man quickly furrowed her brows.
Had she gone mad?
She was just a lowly underling, how could she think a haughty, domineering rich young lady looked pitiful?
As she was lost in these thoughts, she saw the young miss suddenly open the window connecting to the front seat and instruct the driver: “Stop the car.”
Hua Man was surprised.
It was just an ordinary street outside. Why was the young miss stopping here?
She soon got her answer – the young miss had suddenly decided she wanted to take a stroll in this area.
As a bodyguard, Hua Man had no right to object to her employer’s decisions. She could only obediently follow along.
At first she thought the young miss was just acting on a whim, but watching her walk determinedly in one direction, as if she had a specific destination in mind, Hua Man became unsure.
Logically, this run-down street and alleyways didn’t seem like a place the young miss would frequent.
But the young miss seemed very familiar with the area.
Hua Man’s gaze fell once again. The young miss’s hands were curled at her sides, her reddened and swollen palms slightly turned outwards, the red color glaring.
Originally Hua Man really wanted to not care, but it was too eye-catching, and also… there was a pharmacy up ahead.
“Young Miss.” Seeing the young miss walk past the pharmacy and continue forward, Hua Man couldn’t help but speak up.
Yang Zhao stopped in her tracks. Hiding the gloom in her eyes, she said without turning back: “If you’re trying to persuade me to go back, then shut your mouth. Don’t make me angry.”
Hua Man threw caution to the wind: “Wait for me for two minutes.”
With that, she ran into the pharmacy without looking back.
Yang Zhao stood in place, her face still showing traces of surprise.
Had Hua Man just asked her to wait for two minutes?
Two minutes wasn’t long, but in all her years, it had always been others waiting for her. Today someone actually dared to make her wait?
This experience was surprisingly novel, to the point that she couldn’t even muster any anger, only curiosity about what Hua Man was up to.
Soon, Hua Man came out of the pharmacy with a small bag in her hand.
“You have some nerve, actually daring to…”
Before Yang Zhao could finish speaking, Hua Man held out the bag in front of her and said in an extremely insolent tone: “Take it.”
Yang Zhao’s words faltered as she looked up at her beautiful bodyguard in surprise.
She actually saw an attitude of not caring if she got fired today on Hua Man’s face.
How rare…
Taking the bag, she casually asked while opening it: “You’ve only been by my side for a day and you’re ready to quit. Aren’t you afraid Qin Fangqin will…”
Before she could finish saying “come after you”, she saw what was in the bag.
It was medicine for injuries, the kind that reduces swelling and relieves pain.
Yang Zhao was stunned.
The stinging pain in her palm magnified tenfold in that moment. Various emotions welled up, and she struggled to control herself, not letting them show.
“What’s the meaning of this?” She looked up with a half-smile, suppressing her emotions.
“Your hand is injured.”
Hua Man uncomfortably averted her gaze.
“Yes, my hand is injured.” Yang Zhao sighed as she spoke, “Hurt the enemy a thousand, injure myself eight hundred.”
This time it really wasn’t worth it.
Hua Man calmly stated: “You should have brought Yu Shan.”
Yang Zhao made no comment.
Of course she knew Yu Shan could have helped increase her fighting power, but today was a special day. She had to beat Zhao Yang with her own hands to vent the anger in her heart.
“There’s naturally a reason for bringing you.”
Yu Shan was indulgence, Hua Man was probably… restraint.
Yang Zhao lowered her eyes, her gaze falling on the medicine box for a long moment. She raised her hand and tossed the bag back to her.
“Letting me get injured is a dereliction of duty for you as a bodyguard. You have to take responsibility.”
Hua Man’s heart skipped a beat.
How to take responsibility?
Dock her pay? No, she hadn’t even worked a full 24 hours yet, what pay was there to dock?
Surely she wouldn’t have to pay compensation?
A beautiful and pitiful hand suddenly extended in front of her. The young miss asked matter-of-factly: “Don’t tell me you think I should apply the medicine myself?”
Hua Man: “…”
It was a complicated feeling.
It felt both expected and unexpected at the same time.
At least she didn’t have to pay compensation, right?
Hua Man breathed a sigh of relief. She looked around and finally led the young miss to a small park on the other side.
“You want me to sit on this public bench that who knows how many people have sat on or even stepped on?” Yang Zhao frowned. “Do you know how many bacteria are on it?”
Hua Man: “I just wiped it clean with a tissue.”
What could a tissue really clean?
Yang Zhao frowned deeply, silent for a moment, but eventually sat down gingerly on the edge, still looking disgusted.
Raising her hand, she said impatiently: “Hurry up.”
Hua Man stepped forward, one hand grasping the young miss’s fingertips to open her hand.
Only when the palm was fully exposed could she truly appreciate how delicate this young miss was. Even though she was the one who had hit someone, looking at these injuries, they actually seemed more severe than the ones on Zhao Yang’s face.
The joint below her pinky was swollen, and there were patches of bruising here and there on the rest of her hand, a large area of red and purple. Someone who didn’t know what happened would probably think the young miss was the one who had been beaten.
Hua Man’s eyes flickered.
Even though she knew how these injuries came about, seeing the pitiful state still made her heart feel heavy, as if a large stone was pressing down on it, oppressive and stifling.
“What’s with that expression?” The young miss’s displeased voice rang out.
Hua Man lowered her eyes, meeting the other’s beautiful gaze for a few seconds before deliberately looking away. “It might hurt a bit.”
“Hmph, as if a mere…”
The words cut off abruptly as Yang Zhao sucked in a sharp breath of pain. She instinctively tried to pull her hand back, but her fingertips were firmly restrained by a strong force. She was held in place, unable to move.
Before she could react, the woman standing in front of her had already glanced at her with furrowed brows: “Don’t move around.”
Yang Zhao’s eyes darkened.
So she had just been glared at and scolded?
But looking at Hua Man’s serious expression as she applied medicine, she really couldn’t muster any anger.
There were plenty of good-looking people in their circles, but someone like Hua Man, who could make her heart ripple at first glance, was a first. Qin Fangqin had really put in effort this time.
Yang Zhao carefully observed the woman who had been sent to her side with such effort. Her expression was still very serious, and her movements in applying the medicine were even somewhat clumsy and rough, but Yang Zhao could detect solemnity and gentleness in her brows and eyes.
Yang Zhao slowly lowered her gaze.
The cool ointment spread on her palm, gradually soothing her agitated heart.
She secretly savored the glare Hua Man had given her earlier, feeling her bl00d start to boil again.
Compared to the meek and obedient Hua Man, Yang Zhao preferred the one who had shown her sharp edges just now. It was truly memorable.
“You should probably apply a cold compress when you get back.”
Hua Man said as she withdrew her hand, but in the next moment, her hand was grasped by the young miss.
Hua Man was startled and instinctively looked at the young miss.
The ointment that had just been applied to the other’s hand was now sticky on her own hand, which didn’t feel particularly pleasant.
But more importantly, with the ointment now on her hand, all her efforts from earlier had been in vain.
Her brows immediately furrowed.
“Why are you frowning again?” Seeing this, Yang Zhao asked unhappily, “From now on, don’t call yourself Hua Man anymore. Just call yourself ‘Unhappy’.”
Hua Man pressed her lips together.
She also wanted to say the young miss might as well change her name to ‘Brainless’ from now on. The medicine had just been applied – could she not see it? Even if she couldn’t see, shouldn’t it still hurt?
But given the difference in their status, she naturally wouldn’t actually say these things out loud. She just silently waited to see what new trick the young miss was up to.
But the young miss just held her hand for a few seconds before letting go with a bored huff: “How dull.”
Hua Man fell silent again.
The young miss seemed to have truly lost interest in her and didn’t say much more. But unexpectedly, the young miss didn’t linger there either. She quickly contacted the driver, and in less than five minutes, they were seated once again in the comfortable and spacious car.
Except this time there was the not-so-pleasant smell of medicinal ointment in the car.
Now that she was in the air conditioning, Hua Man’s head cleared. She had really been too rash earlier.
What kind of person was the young miss? Did she need Hua Man to buy ointment for her?
The young miss was so delicate – what if there was a problem with the ointment Hua Man bought? Could she take responsibility for that?
As she silently berated herself, she couldn’t help but secretly observe the young miss’s reaction.
The usually fastidious young miss seemed to have lost her sense of smell. She had no dissatisfied reaction to the strong medicinal scent. Hua Man even felt her mood seemed quite good, with a hint of pleasure in her brows and eyes, completely different from her gloomy demeanor earlier.
She was a very strange person.
Coming to this conclusion, Hua Man withdrew her gaze.
Anyway, she probably wouldn’t be able to keep this job for long. Whether the young miss was strange or not had nothing to do with her.
–
The news of the young miss’s injury caused quite a stir in the Yang household.
As the bodyguard who had gone out with the young miss, Hua Man inevitably faced questioning from Yu Shan.
“Are you mute?!”
Hearing this, Hua Man looked up: “I apologize. I will resign voluntarily.”
Although the salary here was indeed high, and she could potentially enter the Yang Corporation later, her sense of ethics would make her an incompetent bodyguard.
Hearing this, the aggressive Yu Shan was taken aback. She instinctively turned back to look at the young miss, who was having her hand treated by the family doctor.
Having grown up with the young miss, she naturally knew of the young miss’s different attitude towards this woman.
“You think you can come and go as you please?” The young miss raised her head casually and said with a smile, “Manman, want to make a bet with me?”
Hua Man shook her head.
She wouldn’t knowingly walk into a trap.
“You’re not even going to ask what I want to bet on?”
Hua Man continued shaking her head.
Seeing this, the young miss immediately darkened her expression: “When I say I want to make a bet with you, it’s not a discussion, understand?”
Hua Man: “…”
When would she get used to the young miss’s domineering ways?
“What’s the bet?”
Under the circumstances, Hua Man finally lowered her head.
Yang Zhao became satisfied: “Let’s bet on whether you can successfully resign voluntarily.”
Hua Man was stunned, suddenly having an ominous premonition.
When she received the call from the hospital, the ominous premonition finally came true.
She found the butler again and questioned angrily: “It was you who told the hospital not to admit my sister.”
