Flirting Under Favor (GL) - Chapter 16
“Okay!!!” Three exclamation marks couldn’t even express Wang Lin’s excitement. In fact, she had wanted to go to Mu Fan’s house for the past few days. She missed Mu Fan and wanted to sleep with her (mist), feeling empty when she slept alone. Even the pillow she had hugged for so long suddenly lost its appeal. However, she was also shy and knew it wasn’t quite right to run to someone else’s house every day. She was contemplating what excuse to use in a few days, but Mu Fan’s unexpected invitation made her ecstatic.
She immediately packed efficiently, changed her clothes, and quickly went downstairs to get into her little red Benz. In a great mood, she hummed a little tune as she drove toward Mu Fan’s place.
On the other side, in front of the refrigerator, Mu Fan put down her phone and stood quietly for a moment, feeling a little heavy. Wang Lin was acting so happy; how sad would she be to know this was a farewell?
She took out the ingredients she needed one by one, thinking about what dishes to make. There was still a considerable amount of time before dinner, but it was good to prepare now. Everything would be much easier and save a lot of time when it came time to cook.
After washing and cutting all the ingredients and placing them into small porcelain bowls, Wang Lin still hadn’t arrived. Mu Fan returned to the bedroom, opened her computer, and carefully browsed through files. She needed to learn more about the project in K City in advance.
It was silent until a knock sounded at the door. Mu Fan closed the computer, quickly walked to the door, and opened it.
The moment the door opened, Wang Lin was standing there, smiling sweetly. Immediately after, a soft body crashed into her arms. Her waist was hugged, and Mu Fan felt gentle breath on her neck.
The person in her arms trembled, and Mu Fan heard a soft gasp, but the person still said with a laugh: “Why did you suddenly invite me over?” The exhaled breath was warm and light.
The searing pain in her foot nearly brought tears to Wang Lin’s eyes. She had been holding her laptop, but when she saw Mu Fan, her hand slackened to free her arms to hug her. The laptop fell from her hands and smashed onto her instep.
Her instep throbbed with pain, and her foot reflexively refused to bear weight, so her entire body leaned against Mu Fan. After speaking, she couldn’t help but gasp from the pain.
Noticing Wang Lin’s abnormality, Mu Fan supported her and asked: “What’s wrong?”
Wang Lin looked wronged, her eyes glistening with tears, and she stammered: “The laptop hit my foot.”
Mu Fan looked down upon hearing that. Wang Lin’s laptop was pressing crookedly on her instep. Wang Lin had hugged her so suddenly that Mu Fan hadn’t even heard the sound of the laptop dropping. A trace of panic and worry flashed in Mu Fan’s eyes. She quickly bent down to pick up the laptop bag, supporting Wang Lin as she walked towards the sofa.
“What happened?”
After two steps, seeing Wang Lin’s face turn pale from the pain, Mu Fan sighed helplessly. She tossed the laptop onto a corner of the sofa, circled one arm under Wang Lin’s armpit, and scooped up her legs with the other, lifting her into her arms.
Although Wang Lin wasn’t heavy, Mu Fan wasn’t very strong either. She quickly walked to the sofa and set the person down. The downward momentum carried her to pounce slightly in front of Wang Lin, breathing lightly.
“It was in my hand, but I don’t know how it dropped,” Wang Lin said, still recovering from Mu Fan’s princess carry, looking at the slightly panting Mu Fan in front of her.
Mu Fan chuckled at her silly words, squatted down, and began to take off her shoe, saying as she did: “Then where did your hands go?”
Wang Lin’s face flushed with embarrassment. Her action was incredibly silly. She confessed honestly: “My hands went to hug you.”
After taking off Wang Lin’s shoe and sock, the instep of her left foot was slightly red. Wang Lin’s laptop was specially chosen as a gaming rig, so it was heavy. It looked like, unfortunately, the sharp corner had hit her foot. But the skin wasn’t broken. Mu Fan was relieved. It was painful, but this kind of injury would subside after a while; it wasn’t serious.
“Aren’t you silly?” Mu Fan asked.
Wang Lin was speechless for a moment, then spoke a surprising line: “I was hit because I was hugging you. You have to take responsibility.” She looked at Mu Fan, watching her reaction.
Mu Fan was amused by her unreasonable words but didn’t refute her. She went along with it: “Fine, I’ll take responsibility.” She gently blew air onto the injured spot, then brought over a pair of slippers. “The injury isn’t bad; it’s not a big problem.”
Getting Mu Fan’s promise, Wang Lin was overjoyed and obediently put on the slippers.
“Does it still hurt?” Mu Fan asked her.
Wang Lin wiggled her foot in the air a few times: “A little bit.” She stood up, tried to hop, and was mostly fine.
“Oh, right,” she asked Mu Fan, “You still haven’t answered me. Why did you suddenly ask me to come over?”
“I accidentally bought too many vegetables the other day. They’ll go bad if I don’t eat them soon,” Mu Fan answered honestly.
“So you called me over to eat,” Wang Lin said with a smile, running to the kitchen on familiar legs. Sure enough, she saw a variety of cut ingredients. Her eyes scanned them. The first time, she noticed there was nothing she disliked. The second time, her gaze stopped at a small bowl. In the bowl was a pile of finely chopped green.
“Huh?” she lightly questioned in confusion.
Mu Fan followed her from behind.
Wang Lin turned and asked: “Why is there green onion? Don’t you dislike green onion?”
“You said you like it.” Mu Fan walked to the side, picked up a rag to wipe the table. But the tabletop had long been clean. She wiped back and forth, concealing her guilt.
“Mu Fan,” Wang Lin called softly.
“Mhm.”
The girl’s face was full of surprise, and she spoke the words Mu Fan didn’t want to admit.
“Did you buy the ingredients specifically for me?”
The words from behind caused Mu Fan’s hand to stop. She didn’t want to admit it, but the fact was that she did. She felt her ears burning, a little flustered.
“Hehe,” Wang Lin laughed clearly, leaning her head close to Mu Fan, tilting it to look at her. “Is it? Is it?”
Mu Fan managed to squeeze out one difficult word: “Yes.”
Her eyes darted away, afraid to look.
Her expression was clearly visible to Wang Lin. Mu Fan obviously didn’t want to admit it. She had clearly bought the food for her, yet she didn’t want to admit it, saying she “accidentally bought too much,” a clumsy attempt to hide the truth.
She saw Mu Fan’s flustered eyes, an expression she had never seen before. Mu Fan was usually gentle and calm. This contrast excited Wang Lin immensely.
She’s too cute!
Wang Lin couldn’t resist hugging her again. Her heart blossomed with joy, feeling incredibly sweet. She rubbed her head against Mu Fan’s chest and whispered: “You are so cute.” She quickly released her, turned back, stood straight, and smiled at her.
Mu Fan was confused by the fleeting intimacy and words. She looked at Wang Lin, puzzled: “I’m cute?”
“Mhm.” She nodded heavily, then looked up and said innocently: “I like you so much.”
I like you so much.
Mu Fan felt a little breathless, her heart racing. Her hand trembled, and the rag accidentally dropped to the floor. She wanted to pick it up, but Wang Lin beat her to it, bending down to retrieve it and handing it to her.
She took it, put the rag back on the table, and used her hands to steady herself on the edge of the table.
Wang Lin stared at her, her gaze sincere, and asked again: “Do you like me?”
Mu Fan couldn’t answer. She turned her head, feeling like Wang Lin was driving her crazy. She knew Wang Lin’s words were purely innocent, but she couldn’t help but be flustered by them.
“It’s still early for dinner. Let’s go play the game,” she said, trying to maintain her composure.
Not getting an immediate, direct answer, Wang Lin was a little disappointed, but hearing Mu Fan suggest playing the game, she happily nodded and said, “Okay.” Recalling how Mu Fan initially didn’t want to admit she bought the food for her, Wang Lin figured Mu Fan must be too shy to say she liked her and decided to ask again later.
She was certain Mu Fan liked her too.
Eyes can reveal a lot of information. Wang Lin always felt that the way Mu Fan looked at her was very similar to the way her mother, Lin Jia, looked at her—a look that couldn’t refuse her. But there were differences she couldn’t quite explain.
That look allowed her to cautiously test, approach, and be bold.
Sitting down in front of the computer in the bedroom, Mu Fan took a deep breath. Behind her, Wang Lin carried her laptop over, set it up, opened it, and looked joyful.
As soon as she entered the game, Wang Lin asked: “What should we play?” She was still in the exploratory stage of the game and had no concept of what to play. She just followed Mu Fan’s lead.
Mu Fan looked straight ahead, thought for a moment, and said: “Let’s go run Zhulong Palace [a dungeon]. I’ll get you some horse gear.” Wang Lin’s horse was the free-system Rongxue at first, which was extremely slow. After she became familiar with the cash shop, she decisively bought a fast horse, which had good stats, but the gear it used was still poor. Good horse gear only dropped in dungeons.
“Sounds good,” Wang Lin didn’t care what they played and readily agreed.
Mu Fan first went to Yu Banxian in Taiyuan, teleported Wang Lin over, and then instructed her on how to enter the dungeon. Zhulong Palace was pitch black and rugged. Wang Lin hopped behind Mu Fan to the boss. The story plot was long and tedious. While waiting for the cutscene, Mu Fan habitually started meditating. Wang Lin jumped all over her head.
Then she ran to the boss to compare their height, finding that she was only as tall as the boss’s leg. She couldn’t help but complain: “This modeling is too outrageous.”
Mu Fan also came over to compare and said: “Mhm, it’s two of me tall.”
The wait for the cutscene was quite boring. Mu Fan used a head pat emote on Wang Lin. After Wang Lin agreed, the beautiful Qin Niang (Mu Fan’s character) bent over and continuously rubbed the head of the little Hua Luo (Wang Lin’s character). Hua Luo looked up, behaving sweetly and enjoying it. Wang Lin smiled widely at the sight and quickly took a few screenshots.
Mu Fan, meanwhile, picked up the book on the side and began to read. After a while, she felt a hand touch and rub her head. She turned to see Wang Lin.
“You rubbed mine, so I’m rubbing yours too,” Wang Lin said with a laugh, then tentatively rubbed a little harder.
Mu Fan raised her hand and caught Wang Lin’s hand. Wang Lin stopped moving, letting Mu Fan place her hand on the desktop. Then, she saw Mu Fan raise her hand again, quickly ruffle her hair once, and quickly pull it back, messing up her hair.
Mu Fan wasn’t guilty at all and said seriously: “Only adults can pat a child’s head. Children can’t touch adults’.”
Wang Lin naturally didn’t accept this argument, but she didn’t refute it either. After they both sat up straight, she watched for an opportunity, reached out, and ruffled Mu Fan’s hair into a mess. Triumphant, she couldn’t help but boast: “I’m going to touch it anyway.”
