Flirting Under Favor (GL) - Chapter 28
Since the next day was the weekend, the two slept until they woke up naturally. Mu Fan woke up first. As her consciousness gradually returned, the warm, moist sensation on her lips became clearer. When she opened her eyes, she realized Wang Lin was lying flat, and she was lying on her side, with her lips exactly pressing against Wang Lin’s face. She quickly pulled away. As her body moved, she felt a soft sensation coming from her palm. She instinctively squeezed it firmly, and instantly felt like she was struck by lightning. Her hand reflexively snapped back.
Seeing Wang Lin sleeping peacefully while she herself had been kissing and touching her, Mu Fan internally cursed herself for being a beast and committing such misconduct. She glanced at Wang Lin, found her still fast asleep, with the quilt on her chest rising and falling gently and steadily. Mu Fan couldn’t help but let her imagination run wild, but ultimately did nothing. She withdrew her gaze, stared at the ceiling, her eyelids drooping, looking heavy with worry.
I really want to be close to her. But I can’t. ‘Gay and Straight’ are different. How can I take advantage of her while she’s my friend and commit such shameful acts?
This feeling was truly agonizing. Mu Fan’s eyebrows drooped lower and lower.
Mu Fan was lost in confused thoughts for an unknown length of time before Wang Lin finally showed signs of waking up. She mumbled and grumbled a couple of times, then instinctively snuggled into Mu Fan’s arms. She pulled her body in, buried her face under Mu Fan’s neck, and mumbled twice more.
Mu Fan didn’t dare to move, only allowing Wang Lin to get comfortable. She gently and tentatively asked: “Are you awake?” Wang Lin was usually quiet when she slept and didn’t move much. Since she was moving so much, Mu Fan figured she must be awake.
“Mhm.” Although awake, Wang Lin had no intention of getting up. She just nestled in Mu Fan’s arms, unwilling to move. She took a big sniffle, then twisted her head from side to side, like a small worm frantically trying to burrow into a crack in the ground. Of course, she couldn’t burrow anywhere; she only left Mu Fan dumbfounded.
This girl is getting more and more excessive. Mu Fan pressed her chin against Wang Lin’s head to stop her from moving, asking helplessly: “What are you doing!”
“You smell so nice.”
“…” Mu Fan was silent. Does she have to be so ambiguous?
Wang Lin lay back properly, then said something out of the blue: “That’s strange.”
“What’s strange?”
Changing her position to lie on her side facing Mu Fan, Wang Lin replied: “My dream.”
“What kind of dream?” Mu Fan asked.
“I forgot.” Wang Lin answered casually, but in her heart, she was thinking that she was almost an adult, yet in front of Mu Fan, she acted like a child. She didn’t even act this affectionate and spoiled in front of her mother, Lin Jia.
Is this what liking someone is? Wanting to get close, to merge into one.
But Wang Lin still had to restrain herself. She didn’t dare to act too recklessly.
This feeling is truly agonizing.
The two lingered in bed for about ten minutes before finally leaving the covers reluctantly. After all, they had agreed to go out and have fun today. If they slept any longer, they wouldn’t be able to go.
After washing up and eating a little, the two set off. The destination was a classical garden and historical site. The scenery in spring was indeed beautiful: willows drooped gently in the breeze, flowers bloomed vividly, stone bridges spanned flowing water, green lotuses floated among brocade carp. The winding bluestone paths connected one elegant and unique corridor or painted building after another, showcasing a high level of classical architecture. However, this was not what Wang Lin valued. She had chosen this place for another reason. Although they were unfamiliar with the area, the bodyguards had planned the route, so they didn’t have to worry once they got into the car. Upon reaching the destination, Wang Lin didn’t want anyone following them. She told Si Qing and her colleague to go explore by themselves. The two were happy to have some time off and even got free tickets, so they naturally didn’t object, choosing a different route and disappearing into the crowd.
Wang Lin stood on her tiptoes, watched the two “light bulbs” (third wheels) leave, then turned and led Mu Fan toward another touring route. Mu Fan finally asked a question that had been bothering her: “Do they report your situation to your family?” In Mu Fan’s view, these two bodyguards were practically glued to Wang Lin.
“No, they’re not here to spy on me. As long as nothing happens to me, they couldn’t care less. Well, my mom is the same. The public security here is good. There’s no danger.”
“She cares about you.”
“Mhm. They do have their uses sometimes. Once, I was stopped by a boy who insisted on confessing to me. It was quite a big scene.” Mu Fan’s heart tightened. Wang Lin continued: “Later, the bodyguards scared him off. After that, no one has bothered me.”
Mu Fan listened and said seriously: “Your mother is right.”
Wang Lin saw Mu Fan’s concern for her. Her heart warmed, and she smiled brightly: “Don’t talk about that anymore. Look, look, the peach blossoms over there are so beautiful.”
Mu Fan looked in the direction Wang Lin pointed. The several peach trees not far away were covered in vibrant, stunning flowers.
Spring. Time passes so quickly.
New Year, hope for a new start.
“Yes, it’s spring,” Mu Fan said. Then she saw Wang Lin scratching her head, tilting it as if thinking about something. “What are you thinking about?”
“Let’s call them over to take pictures for us. Oh right, let me tell you, Si Qing is a photography master.” Wang Lin said while scrolling on her phone with her head down.
Mu Fan teased: “What photography master? Just a photo tool, that’s all.”
“Haha, that’s true too.” The two continued to stroll for two or three minutes before Si Qing came running over, not even out of breath. Mu Fan suspected they hadn’t actually gone far at all.
Wang Lin handed her phone to Si Qing, then, regardless of whether Mu Fan was willing or not, pulled her to stand under a peach tree. Wang Lin wanted to strike a pose, but Mu Fan was standing stiffly, making the scene a bit awkward.
Si Qing shook her head and walked over.
“Miss Mu, like this, like this. Miss, you like this, like this.”
Eventually, the two were posed with Mu Fan’s hands resting on Wang Lin’s shoulders, Wang Lin’s arms wrapped around Mu Fan’s neck, and their foreheads touching. Before Mu Fan could even feel nervous, click, Si Qing had already pressed the shutter button. She gave the two an “OK” gesture: “All done.”
The pose had been so ambiguously heart-stirring. Hearing Si Qing say “All done,” Mu Fan quickly stood back up, adjusting her guilty conscience. Wang Lin then pulled her to another spot. Si Qing followed behind. Her phone suddenly chimed with a notification. She took it out and saw it was a red envelope from Wang Lin, with the note: “Well done.”
She rubbed her chin and smiled proudly, a knowing look in her eyes.
How can you succeed without having good judgment?
Things were much easier after that. Every time Wang Lin wanted a picture, Si Qing would arrange the two in various intimate poses.
“Miss Mu, it looks good photographed like this. Trust me, I’m a photography master.”
As the two walked ahead, Si Qing would occasionally use her own phone to secretly take pictures from behind. In the photos, the two walked shoulder to shoulder through long streets, small paths, covered walkways, and stone bridges. With Si Qing’s photography skills, the images possessed considerable beauty.
Si Qing looked at the photos with a pleased, ‘auntie’ smile, murmuring: “I ship this couple first.”
The scenic area wasn’t very large. After walking around, they arrived at the last spot. The most famous feature here was a large willow tree that took two people to hug. It was famous not because it was thick, but because it served as a wishing tree. If you paid for a specially made wishing slip from the scenic area, the staff would hang it on the tree after the area closed for the night. Of course, if too many people hung them up, there might not be enough space, so the price was naturally not low. The entrance ticket was only forty yuan, but a wishing slip cost five hundred. It’s so easy to make money from couples. This is definitely a stupidity tax. Mu Fan could only pay with Wang Lin, even though they weren’t a couple yet.
“Let’s go AA. You paid for the ticket, so I’ll get this.” Wang Lin paid first. Mu Fan couldn’t argue. Is this really ‘going AA’?
Wang Lin wrote seriously on the wishing slip: “Make Mu Fan like me. Wang Lin, xxxx Year xx Month xx Day.”
After finishing and sealing it, she leaned over to look at Mu Fan’s. “What did you write?”
Mu Fan hadn’t started writing yet, so Wang Lin couldn’t see anything. An elderly woman nearby smiled and said: “It won’t work if someone sees it.” She was also there to hang a wishing slip. The first customers for the wishing tree business were couples, and the second were some local elderly people.
At that moment, Mu Fan had already finished writing, sealed the slip, and handed it to the staff.
“Is it about me?” Wang Lin asked.
Mu Fan: “Yes.”
Wang Lin’s heart filled with joy.
“Your numbers are xxxx and xxxx. You can bring binoculars next time to look for them.”
“Okay.”
Mu Fan had worried that the scenic area might not actually hang them up. It seemed she worried too much. They only cleared out all the slips at the end of each year.
Leaving the wishing slip office, they took a photo under the wishing tree, which concluded their pleasant tour.
The thick willow tree’s dense branches were covered in flourishing green leaves. Many wishing slips tied with red ribbons hung from them. The red and green contrast created a very picturesque scene. Mu Fan wondered, Will wishes really come true? Mu Fan hoped it would come true, and also hoped it wouldn’t, because she had written: “May our friendship last forever.”
She hadn’t specified who the friendship was with, but Mu Fan herself knew it was Wang Lin.
But why would she hope it wouldn’t come true? Did she not want to be friends with Wang Lin anymore?
Mu Fan was confused.
The tour finished, and after lunch outside, the group drove back to the hotel. Wang Lin and Mu Fan were currently sitting in the back, admiring Si Qing’s masterpieces one by one. It had to be said, the photos were indeed good. Si Qing’s capturing of their expressions and moods was very precise. The two people in the photos looked at each other with affection, looking more like a couple than actual couples. Even Wang Lin, the instigator, felt her cheeks burning and her heart pounding.
Si Qing, in the front, didn’t turn around, saying proudly: “How is it? I request an extra chicken drumstick for dinner.”
Wang Lin blurted out: “Didn’t I already give you one?” Seeing Mu Fan give her a questioning look, she felt a little guilty and actively explained: “I thought the photos were pretty good at the scenic spot, so I already rewarded her. Two hundred yuan! That’s enough to buy a lot of drumsticks.” She turned to Si Qing and glared at her fiercely: “How can you be so greedy? Next time, you won’t get a penny!”
Si Qing quickly pleaded: “Don’t say that, don’t say that.”
The colleague driving teased her: “You’re Miss’s bodyguard and earning extra money from Miss. You’re something else.”
“Are you jealous?”
“…Psh.”
