“Didn’t you tell me that pheromone was randomly synthesized in a lab?” Gao Qi hunched over, shrinking into a hidden corner at the turn of the corridor, her voice low and strained as she spoke into her phone.
A jumble of chaotic emotions churned in her mind, buzzing in her ears.
But the cheerful male voice on the other end of the phone still drilled in clearly, like a cold black snake slithering through her, its hard scales rubbing against each other with a rustling sound. Gao Qi’s hand holding the phone couldn’t help but tremble.
“Did I say that?” The man’s voice was as nonchalant as ever, seemingly still eating crab. The sound of hard crab shell being crushed by teeth reached Gao Qi’s ears like hysterical wails and screams.
“Nah, what fun stuff would I have coming out of a lab… damn it, this crab leg almost cracked my back molar.”
“Don’t you fucking play dumb with me!” Gao Qi cursed without thinking, but immediately looked around nervously, afraid of being overheard.
“Aiya, aiya, my dear Qi Qi, please don’t make things difficult for me, okay?” The man pleaded with a chuckle while sucking on the inside of a crab leg.
“I’m just a middleman, making a little money, helping out a little. You, on the other hand, should calm down and get over your shock. So? Did you run into the real deal? Heh, what’s the big deal? Just with those big b00bs of yours, Qi Qi…”
Gao Qi hung up before he could finish his nonsense.
She hadn’t gotten any information, but Gao Qi wasn’t surprised at all.
The man on the other end of the phone, everyone called him Ahe, was a Beta. Apart from that, very few people even knew his real name.
Just like he said himself, he was just a middleman. As long as you could pay, no matter what you wanted, legal or illegal, he could get it.
“One shot and I guarantee any Alpha will fall head over heels for our Qi Qi.”
Gao Qi remembered him saying that when he handed her the syringe.

Gao Qi splashed a handful of cold water hard on her face. She leaned on the sink, her eyes staring straight at her reflection in the mirror.

She used her fingers to lift the corners of her mouth upwards, the forced smile more awkward than a cry, but she couldn’t linger outside any longer.
Before Gao Qi even walked back to the auction hall, she heard the sound of the gavel falling, signaling the completion of a bid.
It was for those few Qin Dynasty bamboo slip fragments, the very purpose of Fu Ying’s trip. However, the transaction price was a staggering 2.76 million, far exceeding Fu Ying’s prediction.
And the person who successfully bid for those fragments was none other than the female Omega exuding the minty cold fragrance, Su Qing.
Gao Qi finally saw her appearance clearly.

The female Omega was turning her head to look at Fu Ying, the smile on her face looking a little apologetic, probably feeling like she had taken something someone else wanted?
Gao Qi sneered inwardly. This Su Qing was clearly doing it on purpose. During the auction, she frequently raised her paddle to compete with Fu Ying, dragging several originally neutral onlookers into the fray and raising the price by two or three times!
