Forced to Love (GL) - Chapter 65
The cold, robotic female voice on the phone was sharp and emotionless.
This was the eighth call Lingxi had made, only to be rejected again.
The phone screen dimmed in just a few seconds, but in each passing second, Lingxi felt her bl00d boil, screaming one undeniable fact—
**Qin Sui was angry.**
And very angry.
The moment she turned away, Lingxi regretted it.
She hadn’t even figured out how to make her stay before her thoughts jumped to an extreme—imagining herself tying Qin Sui down right in front of her.
Feeling frustrated, Lingxi tapped the screen to light it up again. As she reached for her wine glass, she noticed the lipstick stain on the rim. Her mind instantly pictured Qin Sui after drinking, smiling at her with a teasing look.
Lingxi closed her eyes slightly and leaned back into the sofa.
“Little Boss Wei, what’s going on? I was only gone for a short while, and now you’re like this?”
Yu Tao walked over just as Lingxi’s phone screen went completely dark.
Not only had Qin Sui ignored her calls, but she had also turned off her phone.
Lingxi opened her eyes slightly and glanced at Yu Tao. Not seeing Lan Zhiyao around, she asked, “Your canary left?”
“Yeah, I have something to do in the morning, so I sent her back first,” Yu Tao said, sitting down. “But don’t change the subject—what’s up with you? You look like you know Qin Sui?”
Lingxi didn’t answer, watching the swirling lights in front of her.
Yu Tao seemed to realize something and chuckled, “And it looks like you two are close? This is the first time I’ve seen our little boss Wei being so considerate.”
Her gaze landed on the coat beside Lingxi. Lingxi looked at it too.
The coat had just been returned and was draped over her arm, still carrying the lingering warmth and faint scent of Qin Sui’s perfume.
A scent that was both unique and ordinary.
Lingxi had always disliked strong perfume, yet at some point, she realized she not only didn’t mind Qin Sui’s scent but even found it addictive.
But when the same perfume was on someone else, she would still frown.
Hearing this, Yu Tao had once said that Lingxi wasn’t picky about perfume—she was picky about people.
She even pestered Lingxi for days, trying to find out who this person was.
Suddenly, Yu Tao jumped up. “Wait! That mysterious person—is it Qin Sui?”
Lingxi shot her a glance and said, “Tell Sister Ji to change the sofa. I’ll pay for it.”
“Change the sofa?”
Lingxi glanced at her phone again, then clicked into a pinned chat and sent a message.
**[Did you arrive?]**
She needed a breakthrough.
Then, she said casually, “Yeah, this one bounces too much. It’s a safety hazard.”
With that, she stood up, grabbed her coat, and walked out.
Yu Tao quickly reacted, chasing after her with a laugh. “Heartless!”
###
Even after Lingxi got home, her WeChat remained silent.
She took a shower, then picked up her phone, staring absentmindedly at their chat.
The conversation was still stuck at half a month ago—simple, with barely a few lines.
Lingxi had asked, **[How have you been?]**
A long time later, Qin Sui had replied, **[Joined a filming crew.]**
It wasn’t that they never talked; Lingxi just preferred calling over texting.
But looking at the chat now, she felt an unfamiliar distance in their words—like routine exchanges rather than real conversations.
A drop of water slid from the tip of her hair onto the phone screen, reflecting a faint light. Lingxi sighed softly, pushing her damp bangs back.
How did things end up like this?
If she could, she would go back to before she lost her memory and grab herself by the collar to ask—
**How could you do something so shameless?**
**How could you keep a canary?**
Even in this shameless state, she still ended up liking Qin Sui.
The same person who once firmly wanted to end things was now hesitating, her attitude wavering.
Lingxi suddenly remembered the first time she saw Qin Sui after waking up in the hospital.
Qin Sui had been sitting by her bedside, silent. But in her eyes, Lingxi had seen a flicker of fire and a brief wisp of mist.
Qin Sui’s dark pupils reflected Lingxi’s weak form. When she saw Lingxi wake up, she stood and called for the doctor.
Several people rushed in, checking her condition, changing her bandages.
Lingxi couldn’t move, but her eyes never left Qin Sui.
At that moment, she was thinking two things—
**Who is she?**
And—
**She’s really beautiful.**
Later, during her recovery, Qin Sui was the person she saw most frequently.
Yet no matter how hard Lingxi tried, she couldn’t remember her.
She even asked her parents if she had a sister, describing Qin Sui’s features in detail, but they firmly denied it.
Lingxi then suspected Qin Sui might have been her girlfriend before she lost her memory. She even asked Yu Tao, but before she could finish explaining, Yu Tao burst out laughing.
“Impossible! You, in a relationship? You can’t even be bothered to go out and have fun, let alone date someone.”
Lingxi coldly kicked her out.
One day, a sudden text notification reminded her of something. Lingxi checked her messages and even looked up her bank statements—only to discover a fixed monthly transaction between her and Qin Sui.
Confused, she asked Qin Sui the next time she visited, “Are we good friends?”
Qin Sui smiled. “No.”
Lingxi stared at her for a long time before hesitantly guessing, “A canary?”
The room fell silent.
After a while, Lingxi saw Qin Sui raise an eyebrow slightly, her expression indifferent.
Then, she heard her say, “Yes, I am your canary.”
###
Outside, it had started to drizzle, raindrops tapping lightly against the glass.
Lingxi snapped back to reality. It seemed Qin Sui wasn’t going to reply to her.
She checked the route from Nightfall to Qin Sui’s filming location. Even by car, the fastest time was still three and a half hours.
It was 3 AM now, but without any other choice, Lingxi dialed again.
Even if Qin Sui didn’t pick up, she had to keep calling—how else could she feel at ease?
Leaning against the window, she rested one knee up, setting the phone on her leg with the speaker on.
The robotic female voice repeated over and over, numbing Lingxi’s ears. Her eyes lost focus as she stared outside.
Then, suddenly—
The robotic voice disappeared.
Instead, she heard the beeping of a connected call.
Then even that disappeared.
The night was deep, and Lingxi was lost in her thoughts. The rain and silence made her reactions sluggish.
She sighed, lowering her head and pressing her palm to her forehead, fingers threading through her hair.
“It’s still raining,” she murmured.
“If I had known, I should’ve listened to Yu Tao and gotten another car.”
Her quiet words were quickly swallowed by the sound of rain.
Then, a soft chuckle came through the phone.
Lingxi’s head snapped up.
A familiar voice followed—
**”You should listen to me more instead.”**
Lingxi grabbed her phone. The screen lit up—
**Call in progress: 30 seconds.**
She was speechless.
Qin Sui asked, “Are you worried about me?”
Her background was completely silent, only her voice coming through.
“Mm. Did you get to the hotel?”
“Yes.”
Lingxi glanced out the window. “Not raining?”
“A light drizzle. Nothing heavy.”
“That’s good.”
Qin Sui chuckled again—soft, clear, and heart-stirring in the quiet night.
She said, “My call log is full of your name.”
Lingxi hesitated before saying, “You’re mad.”
Qin Sui asked slowly, “So you’re calling to tell me not to be mad?”
“Mm.”
Qin Sui sighed. “Little Boss Wei, is this how you comfort people?”
She added, “What if I’m still mad?”
Lingxi thought for a moment. “I’ll drive to you.”
“Didn’t you say you don’t have a car?”
“Yu Tao does.”
Qin Sui fell silent for a few seconds before saying, “Then come tomorrow.”
Just as Lingxi was about to speak, Qin Sui added—
“I’m still mad.”
