Forced to Love (GL) - Chapter 66
Lingxi really went.
She couldn’t bear to hear Qin Sui say those words to her in a slightly deep voice, mixed with a hint of grievance and three parts seriousness.
As for the remaining six parts, Lingxi couldn’t quite decipher them—perhaps there was anger, or maybe something else.
The moment she hung up the phone, Lingxi immediately called Yu Tao. On the other end, Yu Tao was still sleeping and was startled awake, thinking something urgent had happened.
But Lingxi calmly said, “I need to borrow your car. Have someone bring it to my company by noon tomorrow.”
The half-asleep Yu Tao took a while to react before cursing, “Damn it,” and then turned over, hanging up on Lingxi.
The next morning, Lingxi was woken up by her alarm, went to the company first, and took care of urgent business.
She then informed her assistant that she wouldn’t be in the office for the time being—all meetings would be moved online, paper approvals would be handled via email, and for documents requiring her signature, an electronic signature would be used instead. If anything was extremely urgent, the assistant could drive over to deliver it.
The assistant noted everything down carefully and confirmed the possible address for document deliveries.
After finishing all the arrangements, Lingxi went downstairs and saw Yu Tao leaning against the car, just about to call her.
Before leaving, Yu Tao leaned on the car window, studying her closely.
“Missy, you’re borrowing my car in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?”
“Where are you going?”
“Wait a minute… with that outfit… you’re not going on a date, are you?”
For the first time, Lingxi felt like Yu Tao was a walking ‘Why Machine.’
She pressed down on the gas pedal as if about to speed off and signaled for Yu Tao to step back. “I have something to take care of.”
As her words fell, only exhaust fumes and a heartless silhouette were left for Yu Tao.
By the time Lingxi arrived at the filming set, it was already around four or five in the afternoon. Her phone and WeChat were flooded with messages from Yu Tao.
She briefly glanced at them, replied, “Not a date,” and then exited the chat.
Qin Sui’s chat window remained silent—no reply to her message from the day before, nor any new ones sent.
Lingxi casually hung her sunglasses on the third button of her light blue shirt and stepped out of the car. Only then did she realize how out of place her sleek black sports car looked among the nanny vans and crew vehicles.
She had barely walked a few steps before a man, who introduced himself as the assistant director, approached her.
“Excuse me, are you President Wei? Hello, hello! Director Yin asked me to meet you. Thank you for coming all this way to visit the set.”
Lingxi responded politely and followed him inside.
“Is Mr. Qin still filming?”
The man bent slightly and replied, “Ah, yes. Originally, the shoot was supposed to wrap up this afternoon, but since it rained heavily in the morning, Director Yin was worried about the film’s visual effects, so it was postponed. It’ll probably go on until nighttime.”
Lingxi nodded, took a call from her assistant, then said, “Everyone has worked hard. I brought some fruit, snacks, and drinks as a treat. Could I trouble you, Assistant Director Li, to distribute them?”
The man smiled and helped lift the black curtain blocking the inner area. “President Wei, it’s nothing at all. Please, this way—Director Yin is just over there.”
Inside, the crew was still busy. Apart from the actors speaking in front of the cameras and the hum of machines, the set was otherwise silent.
The assistant director was about to jog over and inform Yin Tao of her arrival when Lingxi raised a hand slightly, signaling him to step aside.
**”How can you be sure it’s me?”**
**”Lieutenant Du?”**
The words, spoken deliberately and with a hint of intrigue, drifted into Lingxi’s ears.
Lingxi stopped behind Yin Tao and looked at the woman standing under the soft glow of the set lights, dressed in a pale, elegant qipao with delicate floral patterns.
Her eyes were slightly narrowed, the corners subtly raised, lips curved into a faint smile. She held a folding fan in one hand, gently swaying it.
Even though she had no weapon in hand, appearing thin and fragile, she exuded an aura as if she were the one holding a gun to someone’s head.
Lingxi didn’t know how long she had been staring until Yin Tao finally called out, “Cut!” Qin Sui stepped out of the shot, tilting her head slightly as their eyes met.
For a split second, Lingxi thought she saw her smile. The sharpness in her gaze, like a blade, dissipated in the next moment like a breeze.
“Oh, our dear President Wei is here! How long have you been standing there? Why didn’t you say something?”
Yin Tao suddenly turned to look at her.
Lingxi had no choice but to shift her gaze. “Filming is important. You looked so focused—I didn’t want to disturb you.”
“Haha, no need to be so polite with me,” Yin Tao laughed, then asked, “Did you come straight here? You didn’t go to the hotel first?”
“Not yet. I figured I’d wait until you were done, then we could all go together.”
From a distance, a few crew members were shouting while distributing supplies. Yin Tao glanced over. “Whoa, you bought this much?”
“It’s not much. Just a little something for everyone since you’re filming into the night.”
Yin Tao squinted at her with a smirk. “Oh? So is this gesture for my sake, or for a certain someone else?”
Lingxi hesitated for a moment. For some reason, Qin Sui’s image from the film suddenly flashed through her mind.
That faint smile, those distinct fingers lightly pressing against a gun. In a quick shift of the scene, it felt as if she was close enough to breathe against Lingxi’s neck.
Cool, with a tingling numbness.
Lingxi said, “For Teacher Qin, and also—”
“And also what?”
Before she could finish, a voice from behind interrupted.
Qin Sui walked over and stood beside her, fanning herself slowly, her gaze carrying a teasing glint.
She still had her makeup on—like a striking, thorny rose.
Lingxi unconsciously held her breath for a second. The words on the tip of her tongue were swallowed back down.
She said, “It’s for Teacher Qin.”
Yin Tao clicked his tongue. “Hey, that’s cheating! Doesn’t count, doesn’t count!”
“What doesn’t count?” Qin Sui stopped smiling and handed her fan to an assistant behind her. “Fine, I won’t look at her. Let her say it herself.”
Lingxi paused, meeting Yin Tao’s expectant gaze. Her tone was sincere, even carrying a hint of apology.
“This time, I really did come specifically for Teacher Qin.”
Yin Tao’s eyes widened. “Since when did you two get so close?”
