- CHapter 7 - Before Xu Mifei could react, a mechanical voice came from the aircraft...
Before Xu Mifei could react, a mechanical voice rang out from the aircraft, “Baby, I’m here to pick you up! Baby, I’m here to pick you up!”
Frowning, she ran up to the rooftop and saw an aircraft that had appeared out of nowhere. The cockpit was empty—the mechanical voice was coming from the control panel.
“Who is this? Don’t call me ‘baby.'” Xu Mifei felt a surge of irritation at the term, bordering on PTSD. The original owner’s fondness for such cloying pet names was nauseating, and the sheer frequency of them was unbearable.
The mechanical voice responded, “Okay, sweetheart. Have you forgotten? You programmed me to come pick you up whenever you said you were annoyed, to help you change your mood. The VIP air route has been cleared for you. We’ll reach the Nitaer Underground Tower in two minutes via superluminal speed. The gates of paradise are always open for you.”
“I’m not going.” Xu Mifei immediately sensed this was no good place. She glanced down at her phone and paled.
Jiang Lingyu, I need you.
When had she sent that? She hadn’t even finished typing—how had such an ambiguous message gone through? Now it was too late to recall it.
And Jiang Lingyu hadn’t replied at all.
The message was like a peacock flaunting its feathers. Even though she had already explained to Jiang Lingyu that she was a beta, it still came off as deliberate flirtation.
They had just agreed not to interfere with each other—Jiang Lingyu had even emphasized it.
Damn it, Xu Mifei thought.
She could only try to salvage the situation by sending another message, Just a typo. Don’t come back. I’m fine.
Still no reply from Jiang Lingyu.
Great. Jiang Lingyu must think she was some kind of weirdo.
The aircraft suddenly blared a sharp alarm: “Sweetheart, come get your wedding gift. Get in.”
“Stop it.” Xu Mifei winced—the noise was giving her a headache. But the aircraft wouldn’t stop unless she boarded. Annoyed, she stuffed her phone into her pocket and stepped inside. The mechanical voice instantly turned sweet again: “Welcome aboard.”
“…”
Fine. She might as well check this place out. She needed to learn more about this world anyway.
As they neared the destination, a mechanical arm appeared out of nowhere, holding out a bottle of pills.
“Take this to reduce your sensitivity to pheromones. We can’t have you biting people the moment you arrive… After all, you’re not like me—unaffected.” The aircraft’s screen suddenly turned to static, pulsing with an unfamiliar voice like the wavelength of a heartbeat.
Xu Mifei hesitated but took the bottle without consuming the pills, tucking it into her pocket. The aircraft landed on the rooftop of a building that looked no different from any other skyscraper. Before she could steady herself, it plummeted abruptly, like an elevator whose cables had snapped.
Xu Mifei nearly vomited again. The force made her grip tighten, nearly reopening her wound. The pain, at least, brought a sliver of clarity.
Then, the aircraft stabilized. After a brief moment of darkness, the sound of a door opening echoed. Countless beams of light shot from all directions, and in an instant, Xu Mifei’s senses felt completely overwhelmed.
Too much. Too many clashing pheromones. Thick, cloying—even sickeningly pungent.
She was surrounded by people—some kneeling, others crawling toward the guests in the booths. They were barely dressed, all with their scent glands exposed, each bearing deep bite marks.
Moans and screams filled the air as a putrid atmosphere thickened. Alphas and Omegas stripped each other bare right in front of Xu Mifei, as if humanity had been stripped away, leaving only the primal instincts and desires of beasts.
Not far away, on a circular stage, stood a massive octagonal cage. A battered alpha was released inside, crawling on the ground while the surrounding crowd roared, “Keep going! Keep going!”
Xu Mifei stood frozen, unable to move. She felt physically sick.
With a beep, the platform beneath her rose to the second-floor balcony, separating her from the others.
At the end of the corridor, Zhou Siwu, with her flamboyant red curls, approached. She removed her leather gloves and handed them to a servant before embracing Xu Mifei lightly. “Tasting the pheromones of a top-tier Omega really changes a person, huh? These people don’t affect you as much anymore, do they?”
This was the first time Zhou Siwu had seen Xu Mifei enter without biting an Omega. It was unusual.
Xu Mifei was processing her memories, finally realizing where she was.
Underground Tower Nital—a lawless zone established by Zhou Siwu. Despite being a Beta herself, Zhou Siwu had built her fortune on erotic performances, making her one of the original owner’s so-called “friends.”
Here, Alphas and Omegas were forced to struggle like caged beasts, ultimately submitting to the dominance of pheromones and becoming slaves to desire. Zhou Siwu profited immensely from this, and the original owner had been a frequent visitor.
What was touted as a paradise was, in truth, a den of sin and extravagance.
Noticing Xu Mifei’s silence, Zhou Siwu assumed she was affected by the online backlash. “Don’t be upset, A-Fei. There’s plenty of time—no need to rush. If you’ve had a taste, the rest will follow.”
Zhou Siwu leaned in closer, whispering, “Wasn’t that bottle of inducer effective?”
Xu Mifei reacted violently, stepping back abruptly. So the inducer had come from Zhou Siwu.
She had no interest in staying any longer. If she did, she might actually vomit.
The Alphas and Omegas before her varied in size, skin tone, and appearance, but they were all reduced to mindlessly repeating the same acts.
“Calm down. Look at you—don’t be so impatient. I know you’re in your susceptible period today, but I have a way to soothe you.” Alphas in their susceptible period were prone to aggression, and given Xu Mifei’s already volatile temper, Zhou Siwu didn’t suspect anything. Instead, she directed her attention to the central stage.
The heavy iron doors creaked open, and another Omega was pushed out to the excited cheers of the crowd. Her face appeared in close-up on the large screen.
Xu Mifei’s pupils constricted slightly.
Jiang Lingyu?!
No—it wasn’t Jiang Lingyu.
It was a young woman who bore a sixty-percent resemblance to Jiang Lingyu. The Alphas eyed her like prey, their gazes turning predatory as they prepared to pounce.
“Happy? I know you like Jiang Lingyu, so I found the closest match for you. Don’t worry—Xie Xingqi will be obedient. Consider her my wedding gift to you.” Zhou Siwu gestured. “Your circle calls her ‘Little Jiang Lingyu.’ You can take her after the show.”
A chill ran down Xu Mifei’s spine as she saw someone preparing to inject an inducer into Xie Xingqi’s nape.
“That’s enough, let her go. I’m not watching the show.”
As soon as Xu Mifei finished speaking, a message came through on her phone. She picked it up to look:
Jiang Lingyu had actually replied to her!!
I’m coming to find you now.
!!!!
Xu Mifei lowered her gaze, steadied her breathing, and turned to leave almost at a run. She couldn’t let Jiang Lingyu know she’d come here.
“Don’t you want the rest of the video?! A-Fei!” Zhou Siwu called after her, but Xu Mifei didn’t even look back.
“So impatient… alphas in their susceptible period really are unreasonable.” Zhou Siwu shook his head thoughtfully, then instructed his subordinates, “Send Xie Xingqi over.”
The journey that had taken less than ten minutes to arrive now felt endlessly long. Every passing second seemed to drag for Xu Mifei—she at least needed time to compose herself.
She didn’t even realize it herself, but when Jiang Lingyu’s message came through, she had instantly breathed a sigh of relief.
Xu Mifei had never met Xie Xingqi and had no other thoughts about her. But she couldn’t bear to see that face so resembling Jiang Lingyu’s being defiled in the fighting arena. From those people’s bloodshot eyes, she could feel it.
They weren’t watching Xie Xingqi being trampled—they were seeing Jiang Lingyu, that top-tier omega they could never touch.
Just as her aircraft landed at her villa, Xu Mifei exhaled in relief. The vehicle automatically retracted into the garage—she had made it back first.
Carefully, she messaged Jiang Lingyu, Where are you now?
There was no reply. Xu Mifei guessed she was driving.
She sat upright on the sofa waiting, as formally as if awaiting an interview.
Suddenly, she heard someone stumbling down the stairs.
…
What was going on? Had a thief broken in? Xu Mifei immediately stood up, only to see Xie Xingqi descending barefoot, wearing nothing but a sheer layer of gauze.
“Assistant Manager Zhou sent me,” Xie Xingqi said timidly, beginning to release her pheromones as Zhou Siwu had instructed.
“Stay back!” For a moment, Xu Mifei forgot to maintain her usual alpha composure, her voice tense with alarm.
Zhou Siwu had taken matters into his own hands, actually thinking she wanted this omega! What kind of mess was this? Xu Mifei’s brows furrowed. “Go back upstairs. Get on the aircraft that brought you here and leave. I’ll pretend you were never here.”
The woman’s presence was too overpowering. Just sitting there, her demeanor alone made Xie Xingqi’s legs weak. Those peach-blossom eyes turned cold, like a thin layer of frost. Xie Xingqi panicked inwardly, but she knew Xu Mifei was her best option.
“President Xu, you’re in your susceptible period. I can soothe you,” Xie Xingqi said desperately—she had no other choice.
Once she released her pheromones, an alpha in their susceptible period wouldn’t be able to control themselves.
In her eyes, Xu Mifei’s resistance and aloofness were just a facade. Who didn’t know about Xu Mifei’s notorious playboy tendencies?
“Get out now!” Xu Mifei’s tone turned icy. She took another step back, but the overwhelming wave of pheromones instantly filled the living room. Xie Xingqi let the flimsy gauze slip from her shoulders entirely.
Seeing reasoning was useless—and since the pheromones had no effect on her anyway—Xu Mifei decided to grab Xie Xingqi’s hand and take her away before it was too late.
“No! President Xu, President Xu, I… I feel so terrible, please help me…” Xie Xingqi sobbed weakly, pushing and then collapsing into Xu Mifei’s arms.
At the same time, the door opened.
Amidst the overwhelming scent of pheromones thick enough to choke on, Jiang Lingyu stood expressionless, her gaze fixed on Xu Mifei—whose arm was wrapped around the waist of a barely dressed woman.
Seemed she’d returned at the wrong time, interrupting Xu Mifei’s little escapade.
