Forced to Romance the Omega Psychiatrist (GL, ABO) - Chapter 2
The rain poured heavily, forming streams of water that cascaded down the transparent, elongated glass panels.
Xia You hadn’t expected Li Wei to react so strongly to what had happened between her and Bai Shui Xi.
“You mean you and her?!” Li Wei abruptly stood up, staring at Xia You in disbelief as if she were a stranger.
Xia You panicked, her eyes reddening as she desperately grabbed Li Wei’s hand. “No, no, Weiwei, I don’t like her. It was just an accident.”
“Even if it was an accident, you shouldn’t!” Li Wei blurted out instinctively but swallowed the rest of her words when she saw Xia You’s expression. Still, her gaze remained accusatory, as if silently reproaching Xia You for her actions.
Truthfully, Li Wei and Bai Shui Xi were complete opposites.
Li Wei came from a background similar to Xia You’s, and the two had grown up together. Their childhood homes had connected rooftops, and during their school days, they would often sneak up there to share a piece of fruit, taking turns with each bite before lying side by side to gaze at the stars.
Later, they attended the same high school, wearing identical white blouses and pleated skirts as part of their uniform.
It was during that summer, on a rooftop draped with sun-drenched white bedsheets, that Li Wei had gently kissed Xia You’s forehead and whispered how beautiful she was.
Xia You couldn’t quite define what that fleeting kiss had meant whether it was born of affection, friendship, or even sisterly care. But Li Wei had never made her feelings explicit.
Yet, Xia You had probably always loved Li Wei.
Even back in middle school, Li Wei’s bright, unrestrained personality had begun to shine through. She was cheerful, thoughtful, and always considerate of others.
Li Wei had many friends, but she always managed to quietly cater to Xia You’s preferences in a crowd.
During gatherings, she would slip Xia You her favorite candy; on trips, she would steer clear of others to explore hidden alleys with Xia You, buying souvenirs only the two of them would share; and on their walks home, she would weave a ring from wild grass by the roadside…
All these little moments had accumulated like scattered starlight, gradually forming a galaxy of affection in Xia You’s heart.
Even after Li Wei went abroad for university, separating them, Xia You would sometimes feel, after their long-distance video calls ended, as though they were in a secret romance, one Li Wei would someday openly declare to the world.
And so, Xia You waited quietly, full of hope, for four years.
When Li Wei returned, she had matured significantly. After briefly reconnecting with friends back home, she set her sights on one of the country’s top entertainment companies and quickly made a name for herself as a talent agent. But with her rising career came a hectic schedule. Though she still cared for Xia You, something between them felt different.
“…How could you be with someone else?” Li Wei’s brows furrowed, her gaze complex, tinged with a faint trace of heartache.
Perhaps due to her work in the entertainment industry, Li Wei’s style had grown increasingly polished and commanding over the years. Her short, subtly dyed hair was impeccably styled, her lips painted with a muted purple hue. The sharp angles of her brows and the slight upward flick of her eyeliner lent her a shrewd, striking beauty but now, paired with that disappointed, sorrowful look, it made Xia You’s heart clench.
“I… I didn’t mean to…”
Xia You’s voice carried a hint of grievance. She was genuinely afraid of the reproach in Li Wei’s tone, as if she might leave her at any moment so afraid that she didn’t even realize she had instinctively taken the blame.
Li Wei looked at Xia You with pained eyes, her gaze deep and searching: “Xia Xia, I thought, you liked me.”
“Of course I like you,” Xia You stood up anxiously, “I’ve always liked you, ever since we were kids. You’re the only one I’ve ever liked…”
Xia You’s words were cut short by Li Wei, whose expression was complicated, her eyes scrutinizing: “Then why did you sleep with someone else?. Are you really not just making excuses? Have you grown tired of me? Is that Bai Shui Xi really so much better than me?”
Xia You immediately shook her head, her voice urgent: “No, no, Wei Wei, of course I only like you. It was really just an accident.”
From the moment it happened, Xia You had avoided thinking too deeply about it. She was a psychologist herself, but even she needed time to recall the details, figure out who had triggered her early estrus, gather evidence, and process the trauma.
She just wanted some quiet time alone.
If it hadn’t been Li Wei calling, Xia You wouldn’t have come out at all.
But how had things ended up like this?
A distinct notification tone interrupted Xia You. The sound came from Li Wei’s phone, and Xia You recognized it, it belonged to Zhou Wanwan, Li Wei’s most popular artist.
This unique notification tone was reserved solely for Zhou Wanwan on Li Wei’s phone; everyone else got the cold, default system tone.
Xia You had once asked Li Wei why only Zhou Wanwan had a special tone.
Li Wei had replied: Because Zhou Wanwan is the most famous and the most likely to get into trouble. If anything happens to her, I need to respond immediately.
At the time, Xia You had found the explanation reasonable. She just hadn’t realized how literal Li Wei’s “immediately” would turn out to be.
Even now, upon hearing the notification, Li Wei ignored Xia You’s attempts to explain, bending down to grab her phone. After a quick glance, her face filled with urgency as she tucked it into her handbag and began prying Xia You’s fingers from her wrist.
Startled by the sudden force, Xia You instinctively tightened her grip, tears welling uncontrollably in her eyes: “Where are you going?”
“Xia Xia, it’s an emergency,” Li Wei said, slowly but firmly loosening Xia You’s hold.
“But what about us?” Xia You stood rooted, struggling to keep her expression calm despite the tears threatening to spill, her voice trembling slightly.
Li Wei gave Xia You one last deep look, said nothing, and without hesitation grabbed her handbag, striding then running toward the mall entrance without a backward glance.
Directly across from Exit B1 of the mall, a slender figure dressed entirely in black stood in the rain, holding an umbrella.
The steady drum of raindrops against the umbrella’s surface was heavy and muffled, but the person beneath it seemed oblivious, unmoving even as splashes soaked the hem of her pants.
Only when a sharp-dressed woman emerged from the mall exit did Bai Shui Xi tilt her umbrella slightly upward.
…So, this was that, Li Wei?
Bai Shuxi watched indifferently as Li Wei opened an umbrella and walked out of the commercial building, stopping a Porsche that happened to pull up at the entrance. She opened the rear door. It was at this moment that another slender figure followed her out.
Bai Shuxi tilted her umbrella slightly again, even cocking her head a little as she silently admired the other woman’s figure through the curtain of rain and the not-so-short distance between them.
So beautiful.
But that was all it was admiration.
She rarely felt any additional emotions, but she couldn’t deny that the woman who had followed Li Wei out seemed to perfectly match her aesthetic.
Bai Shuxi quietly observed the woman who had appeared later presumably the omega female lead, Xia You as she reached out and grabbed Li Wei’s arm. Whatever they said to each other, the conversation didn’t last long before Li Wei shook off Xia You’s hand and coldly slammed the car door shut in her face.
Perhaps because the rain had made the ground slippery, Xia You stumbled back a couple of steps when pushed away and accidentally fell, her umbrella flying out of her hand.
The torrential rain poured down on Xia You, soaking her clothes almost instantly.
From a distance, Bai Shuxi watched all this unfold and came to a detached conclusion: The woman she was supposed to bully without mercy seemed to be a bit of a fool.
Even if she had a great figure, Bai Shuxi had no interest in someone who wasn’t sharp.
It was just a task, after all.
The woman in the rain sat there in disarray, her blouse and A-line skirt drenched. Water droplets slid down her hair, revealing a slender neck as pale and delicate as white jade.
Bai Shuxi slowly approached, the sound of her high heels stepping through the puddles crisp and clear.
A black umbrella parted the rain as Bai Shuxi unhurriedly crouched beside Xia You, her tone light and casual. “See? I told you, only I would ever love you.”
Xia You looked up at the sound, revealing a face that was pale yet strikingly beautiful.
Bai Shuxi froze, completely unprepared for the sight of the face from her dreams appearing before her now. Xia You seemed to have been crying, the edges of her eyes were tinged with a lovely red, and there were faint teeth marks on her lips.
Did Xia You have a habit of biting her lips when trying to suppress her tears?
Bai Shuxi studied her with a strange look in her eyes.
The faint flush from Xia You’s tears didn’t make her seem disheveled at all. Instead, it added a touch of alluring decadence to her rain-drenched pallor.
I think I’ve always liked this look, Bai Shuxi mused absently. When she met Xia You’s furious, guarded gaze again, her voice softened slightly. “I meant every word, jiejie.”
Bai Shuxi remembered that calling someone ‘jiejie’ sometimes worked.
But she couldn’t recall where she’d picked that up, she never bothered storing things she wasn’t interested in. Lost in thought, she absentmindedly reached out and twirled a dripping lock of Xia You’s long hair around her finger.
The next second, the strand was yanked away.
Bai Shuxi’s lashes fluttered once, but she didn’t withdraw her hand. Instead, she turned to Xia You with a questioning hum.
Xia You glared at her angrily, her full chest rising and falling rapidly.
“What’s wrong?” Bai Shuxi asked.
“Don’t think you can fool me,” Xia You’s voice was gentle, making even her defiant words sound soft and sweet. “I know who I am. Even without Li Wei, there would be others who love me, I’m not that worthless. And you’re not special either. What’s special is the person I choose to love.”
Bai Shuixi held up her umbrella, murmuring, “Hmm…”
That actually made sense.
Drenched and pale, with only a trace of bl00d on her lips from biting them, Xia You pushed away Bai Shuixi’s umbrella and stumbled into the rain on her own.
“Hey,” Bai Shuixi tilted the umbrella handle, “are you sure you don’t want me to take you home?”
Xia You’s response was to run even faster, soon disappearing into the shopping complex, likely heading for the stairwell.
She’d rather endure this humiliation under strangers’ gazes than accept a ride from her?
Bai Shuixi released the hand that had been clutching her coat, ready to take it off, and slowly straightened up. “She doesn’t want to get close to me,” she muttered to herself.
The system: […]
You’re the villain here. It’d be weird if she did.
Bai Shuixi’s black trench coat was soaked, its hem darkened by the rain, chilling her legs where it clung to her trousers.
“Have I ever told you…” Bai Shuixi suddenly spoke.
[Oh?]
The system responded promptly.
Watching Xia You vanish from sight, Bai Shuixi lightly brushed the wet fabric at her ankles. “I actually have mysophobia.”
