Forced to Romance the Omega Psychiatrist (GL, ABO) - Chapter 4
“I’m definitely the worst villain in this entire story, right?”
Bai Shuixi sat in the teahouse on the second floor, coldly observing the commotion downstairs.
She had just been passing by and, having nothing better to do, decided to stop by the mall where Xia You’s counseling office was located. She had been about to leave when she witnessed the scene unfolding below.
A man with dyed yellow hair had cornered Xia You near the first-floor exit. Whatever had happened between them, the man kept blocking her path, refusing to let her leave.
The mall was crowded at this hour, and it didn’t take long for curious onlookers to gather, forming a loose circle around the two. Even from a distance, Bai Shuixi could see how helpless and humiliated Xia You looked.
[Without a doubt, absolutely!]
The system’s tone was resolute: [In this script, you are the ultimate villain. No one can outdo you in sheer wickedness!]
It affirmed Bai Shuixi’s role with what almost sounded like pride.
“Hmm… is that so?” Bai Shuixi murmured, unsurprised by the answer. She glanced downstairs once more before picking up her long-handled umbrella and standing. “Then he’s just stealing my job.”
[…Huh? What?]
The system was momentarily confused, but Bai Shuixi didn’t bother to explain.
“…Hey, Dr. Xia. Considering these symptoms only appeared after I consulted with you, shouldn’t you take responsibility?” The yellow-haired man’s voice was arrogant, his expression laced with a barely concealed lewd malice.
The crowd of onlookers murmured among themselves, casting judgmental glances at Xia You.
“Who is she?”
“What’s going on here?”
“I heard she messed up someone’s treatment, and now they’re here to confront her.”
“Seriously? How awful…”
Xia You clenched her fists, unwilling to argue with this unreasonable man in public. The stares from the crowd felt like countless tiny needles pricking at her skin, making her unbearably uncomfortable.
“If…” She took a deep breath, forcing her voice to remain steady. “If you truly believe the issue lies with me, there’s no need to argue here. I’ll accompany you to the police station or a testing facility whichever you prefer.”
“Ha!” The man scoffed dismissively, deliberately making things difficult. “It’s been days. Who knows if you’ve already covered your tracks? Throwing out excuses now… Dr. Xia, are you trying to dodge responsibility?”
Xia You was momentarily speechless. “You!”
Their voices weren’t hushed, and the surrounding crowd could hear every word. The whispers continued unabated.
“She’s so young for an Omega, and pretty too. How could she be so unreliable?”
“Exactly. Why else would someone come after her like this?”
“Which department does she work in? I’ll make sure to avoid it.”
“She’s not in any department. I think she’s a counselor at that psychology clinic upstairs.”
“A therapist? I was actually thinking of going there today… Now I’m not so sure.”
Hearing this, Xia You couldn’t help but try to clarify. “That’s not true. I didn’t do anything wrong. There’s no proof this is my fault.”
“Dr. Xia,” the blond man raised his voice, “if it weren’t for you, how could my pheromones have been unstable ever since I left your counseling office a week ago? I nearly went into rut several times! I’ve come looking for you multiple times this week, but you were never here. You’ve been closed for a full week, doesn’t that prove you’re guilty?”
“I…” Xia You wanted to argue but found herself speechless.
How could she explain? Should she say she unexpectedly went into heat early and ended up sleeping with her pursuer in the office, which made her too embarrassed to face anyone, hence the week-long absence?
…There was no way she could say that out loud.
The weight of the surrounding stares nearly suffocated Xia You, and the murmurs of discussion rose and fell like ocean waves threatening to drag her under.
“What do you want?” Xia You asked the blond man, digging her nails into her palms.
“See! See that?” The blond man didn’t answer her immediately, instead riling up the bystanders. “Everyone, look isn’t this an admission? She was stubborn earlier, but she should’ve just admitted it from the start!”
The onlookers clearly agreed with him, pointing and whispering at Xia You from a safe distance.
Xia You’s eyes widened in disbelief at his shamelessness. “How can you say that? I was just asking for your opinion.”
“If you didn’t think you owed me compensation, why would you even ask for my opinion?”
Xia You was left speechless again, so furious she wanted to turn and leave.
But then the blond man smirked, malice glinting in his eyes as he leaned in close, as if Xia You were already in his grasp. “Look at all these people around us. How about it? You don’t want this to escalate, do you? If you don’t want your reputation ruined further, why don’t we talk privately?”
Truthfully, Xia You had initially considered settling this quietly.
Even though she doubted she was responsible, the timing coincided with the day she had unexpectedly gone into heat and ended up entangled with Bai Shui Xi.
What if she really was at fault?
But now, seeing the look in the blond man’s eyes, she inexplicably didn’t want to engage with him. She took two steps back and said, “Say what you want right here. If your demands are unreasonable, I won’t agree to them. Asking for your opinion was just a courtesy, it doesn’t mean I accept responsibility for your situation.”
Hearing her refusal, the blond man’s expression darkened. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Exactly what you heard.” Xia You’s voice was naturally soft and sweet, and even when she lowered her tone, it lacked any real threat which only seemed to infuriate the blond man further.
He closed the distance between them, his face full of scorn and aggression, looking ready to grab Xia You by the collar. “Either you talk to me alone, or I’ll make sure everyone here knows how unsafe your counseling office is! Your choice!”
Panic surged through Xia You, and she instinctively looked around for help.
But the circle of spectators remained coldly indifferent, some even pulled out their phones to film her and the blond man.
Helpless, Xia You pushed him away in distress. “D-don’t get so close! If you have something to say, just say it!”
This action only further provoked the blond guy. His eyes were glued to Xia You as he reached out to grab her shoulders.
Xia You shrank back in fear, but it was no use. The blond man was much faster and would catch up to her in no time.
Just as his hand was about to touch Xia You, a black umbrella suddenly extended from beside her. The tip of the umbrella pressed firmly against the blond’s shoulder, steadily pushing him back with deliberate ease.
The blond hadn’t expected anyone to interfere at the last moment. Clutching his shoulder with a pained grimace, he glared past Xia You and snarled, “Who the hell? Who’s the busybody poking me?”
His words cut off mid-sentence.
Standing behind Xia You was Bai Shuixi, her expression indifferent as she idly wiped the umbrella’s tip with a handkerchief. Only when the blond spoke did she lift her lashes slightly, casting him a cold glance.
Bai Shuixi’s face was striking sharp features paired with an aloof gaze. Stripped of the gaudy makeup the original owner had favored, her natural demeanor emerged: cool, refined, and undeniably intimidating, yet the kind of beauty that would make heads turn on the street.
Bystanders, forgetting their initial intent to film, began snapping photos of the two beauties together. Some even forgot to turn off their flashes.
In the sporadic bursts of light, Bai Shuixi lowered the long-handled umbrella with disinterest, her eyes devoid of warmth as she regarded the blond like he was nothing more than trash. Only her words maintained a semblance of courtesy, though her tone remained haughty:
“Apologies. I have a thing about cleanliness.”
Xia You froze, turning to see Bai Shuixi, who seemed utterly detached from everything around her.
She never would’ve guessed that Bai Shuixi would be the one to help her.
The blond was stunned too. After staring at Bai Shuixi for a moment, he took a few steps back as if recognizing her, his bravado vanishing instantly, replaced by unease.
Bai Shuixi studied him briefly.
His reaction was odd… She should probably question him. But with Xia You here, it made little sense for a villain like her to involve the heroine.
Instead, she glanced at the mall manager trailing behind her, his face plastered with an obsequious smile.
The manager immediately understood, signaling staff and security to “escort” the blond away though it looked more like dragging. Watching the blond’s reluctant, humiliated struggle amid the employees, Bai Shuixi smirked mockingly.
Xia You had been watching her the whole time. Noticing that expression, an inexplicable chill ran down her spine, and she blurted out without thinking, “Why are you here?”
Bai Shuixi paused, then lowered her gaze to scrutinize Xia You, who seemed to radiate soft warmth. With a detached tone, she replied, “What, would you have preferred if it was your childhood sweetheart instead?”
Xia You fell silent, her expression twisting with discomfort as if struck by the remark. She turned her face away without answering.
She couldn’t bring herself to say it, Li Wei wouldn’t come. In fact, she had abandoned her.
Bai Shuixi remained as indifferent as ever.
Xia You was beautiful, and even on the verge of tears, she didn’t look pitiful, just heartbreaking.
The question was whether she’d actually cry.
As the villain, it was time to start tormenting the heroine.
“Look,” Bai Shuixi said lightly, “no matter how much you love her, she won’t turn back to glance at you. Now that you’re being bullied, she doesn’t even know where you are… Oh, perhaps she’s busy accompanying that Omega celebrity instead. So why not sober up and give me some proper consideration?”
“…Those are two separate matters.”
Xia You stayed quiet for a moment before looking at Bai Shuixi. Her eyes had indeed reddened, but she wasn’t crying: “Even if I don’t like Li Wei, it doesn’t mean I’ll necessarily like you.”
“Oh.” Bai Shuixi lowered her lashes.
So, this was simply a refusal to like her?
Well then, she’d have to try a little harder today. There was no rain to interrupt them, she could afford to ‘work overtime.’
Bai Shuixi watched as Xia You, thinking their conversation had ended with that response, turned and walked toward the mall entrance. She then followed after her.
