Forced to Romance the Omega Psychiatrist (GL, ABO) - Chapter 7
“Don’t want to go?”
In the underground parking garage, Bai Shuixi and Xia You were still silent over whether to go upstairs and take a look. Watching Xia You hesitate, Bai Shuixi suddenly recalled the ‘forced possession’ she had planned for later.
After all, it was all about tormenting the body and mind starting a little earlier wouldn’t hurt.
“If you really want to understand the relationship between Li Wei and Zhou Wanwan,” Bai Shuixi tapped her fingers lightly on the steering wheel, “I have another way to help you see the truth for yourself.”
Xia You froze, lifting her head to look at Bai Shuixi.
“As I mentioned earlier, I own an entertainment company, technically in the same industry as Li Wei. It’s easy for me to track her movements.” Bai Shuixi turned toward Xia You.
Xia You’s gaze landed on Bai Shuixi’s face, barely discernible in the dim light. The smooth, refined line of her jaw caught the faint glow, accentuating her striking nose and pale, thin lips, giving her a somewhat fragile appearance. In contrast, her ever-calm, enigmatic eyes remained shrouded in shadow, making her expression unreadable.
Xia You felt an inexplicable unease. Ever since their reunion, she had slowly lost her grasp on what Bai Shuixi truly wanted.
“What are you trying to say?” Xia You asked hesitantly.
“Come work as my assistant,” Bai Shuixi said casually, turning her gaze forward again. “Once you’re in my company, you’ll naturally handle business matters and that means you’ll have access to everything Li Wei is doing.”
“What?” Xia You was stunned.
Bai Shuixi chuckled softly, having anticipated Xia You’s reluctance. She added leisurely, “You don’t really understand how the entertainment industry works, do you? If you pass up this chance, you’ll be just like before relying entirely on Li Wei for information. But she probably doesn’t tell you everything, does she? Are you sure you don’t want to see for yourself?”
Xia You’s breath hitched.
She didn’t want to go. Just the thought of potential interactions with Bai Shuixi made her want to retreat. Moreover, she could tell Bai Shuixi was deliberately provoking her.
But could she really dismiss all her doubts about Weiwei?
She had already seen how close Weiwei was with someone else. During the times she didn’t know about, had Weiwei really never been with anyone else?
The car was dimly lit, the only illumination coming from the garage lights. Bai Shuixi’s figure beside her was slightly blurred, but their slow, measured breaths were unmistakably clear.
“I just want to understand Li Wei’s work. I’m not thinking of anything else,” Xia You said, gripping her seatbelt as she looked at Bai Shuixi.
Seemed like the bait had worked.
Having hooked her target, Bai Shuixi lowered her eyes with a faint smile, masking the quiet calculation in her gaze. “Of course. What else could there be?”
Xia You pressed her lips together, taking a moment to collect herself. A complicated sense of guilt settled over her. “I thank you for helping me.”
If Weiwei really was hiding something from her, Bai Shuixi was probably the only one who could help her uncover the truth.
But she would never like her.
Even if Bai Shuixi occasionally crossed the line, that was a separate matter. She could be wary of Bai Shuixi’s actions, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t acknowledge her kindness.
Bai Shuixi responded lightly, starting the car and shifting gears. “It’s nothing. If you really want to thank me, how about putting in some good work instead?”
“Of course,” Xia You nodded. She would have taken it seriously even without Bai Shuixi’s reminder. “Since I agreed, I’ll take responsibility.”
“Then I’m truly grateful,” Bai Shuixi smiled, glancing at Xia You before releasing the brake. As the scenery began to move slowly, she added, “Oh, I forgot to mention, I only need one personal assistant. Someone who follows my daily routine closely, preferably living nearby.”
Xia You: “…”
Why didn’t you say so earlier!
The car returned to Xia You’s residential complex.
With a stiff expression that betrayed her irritation, Xia You stepped out of the passenger seat, slamming the door before marching toward the building entrance.
Bai Shuixi chuckled and rolled down the driver’s side window. The mottled colored lights from the roadside cast shifting patterns across her face, softening her usually cool eyes with an unexpected warmth.
“Hey, Dr. Xia,” Bai Shuixi called lazily, resting her elbow on the window frame as she watched Xia You walk away.
Xia You turned back, her rosy lips pressed tight, brows furrowed in frustration. Even her gentle, beautiful eyes burned with indignation clearly upset.
Remembering how Xia You had been too flustered to retort properly in the car earlier, Bai Shuixi couldn’t help another laugh. The rare amusement lent an uncharacteristic warmth to her normally composed voice: “Don’t forget to report for work.”
Xia You, still fuming over feeling trapped, found herself momentarily disarmed by that smile.
The old Bai Shuixi had been gloomy and irritable, lacking empathy. Though she’d recently softened somewhat, that cold detachment remained, tinged with melancholy.
This was the first time Xia You had seen genuine gentleness from her.
But it lasted only a moment.
After speaking, Bai Shuixi raised the window, her aloof, aristocratic features disappearing behind the glass. The turn signal flashed as the car reversed and left the compound.
G City’s prosperous economy meant bustling streets even late at night. Intersecting beams of light highlighted Bai Shuixi’s sharply defined profile, making it appear even more severe.
Her system had been chattering incessantly, but Bai Shuixi only tuned in now to abruptly ask, “Didn’t you say this body was restored to full health? Meaning, I can experience emotions now.”
The system paused mid-ramble. 【Theoretically, yes.】
Though its host’s emotional fluctuations still registered below average.
“I see,” Bai Shuixi murmured.
So that strange sensation earlier, one she’d never felt before must have been what normal people call emotions.
How peculiar.
Bai Shuixi had grown accustomed to emotional detachment. She’d never understood how people reacted under ordinary emotional fluctuations.
Now, experiencing it firsthand, she couldn’t even begin to define it.
【Host!! This isn’t the time for such questions! I’m asking again, why did you alter the plot?!】
“Hmm? Does this count as a change?” Bai Shuixi responded to the system unhurriedly, turning the steering wheel twice. “Didn’t you say we should take by force? Keeping her by my side means I can take whatever I want, however I want. Isn’t that better?”
[Eh? Wait, what?] The system was startled, [Actually that does make some sense?!]
“Otherwise, what did you think I was keeping the female lead around for? To pay her salary?” Bai Shuixi’s confusion was utterly genuine.
The car turned into an upscale residential area that was no less luxurious than Zhou Wanwan’s neighborhood. The headlights flashed through the meticulously landscaped greenery, designed to mimic nature with carefully arranged foliage.
System: [Well, I thought you had taken a liking to the female lead. Similar things have happened before, and as a system, I’ve suffered terribly from it, wuwuwu…]
This time, Bai Shuixi didn’t respond.
In the eerie silence, the system sensed something amiss: [What?! Wait a minute! Don’t tell me you actually plan to dabble in some romance with the female lead!]
“Romance? I’m not sure, I understand!” Bai Shuixi frowned slightly, her reaction indifferent. “What’s the difference?”
System: […]
