Forced to Romance the Omega Psychiatrist (GL, ABO) - Chapter 8
The debate over who seemed more like an AI and whether Bai Shuixi had developed any unnecessary feelings for Xia You lasted most of the night.
However, most of the time, it was just the system ranting on its own while Bai Shuixi went about her business. It wasn’t until bedtime that she finally reminded the system with a single word: ‘Quiet.’
Time passed overnight, and Bai Shuixi took care of Xia You’s housing issue in between her own tasks before settling into a wicker chair on the balcony to flip through a casual read.
Since this was supposed to be a forced possession, Xia You naturally couldn’t live too far away from her.
Originally, the system had suggested Bai Shuixi just move Xia You in directly, but Bai Shuixi wasn’t fond of having other people in her home. Instead, she had her assistant rent out the vacant apartment upstairs.
The keycard, address, and passcode had already been couriered to Xia You, she should be arriving soon.
Who knew if Xia You would actually come after receiving the keycard, though.
Today, the sky darkened slightly earlier than yesterday. By late afternoon, sunlight spilled through the gaps in the golden clouds, casting a glow over Bai Shuixi.
She had just taken a shower. The original body’s taste in clothing was a bit too flashy for her liking, but considering Xia You might show up soon, Bai Shuixi couldn’t exactly dress in her usual style either.
She didn’t like unnecessary complications, so it was better not to let Xia You notice any obvious changes.
After much deliberation, Bai Shuixi ended up choosing a long, lace-covered undergarment and paired it with low-waisted wide-leg pants that accentuated the original body’s slender legs and narrow waist understated yet undeniably alluring.
Now, she sat in the wicker chair with her long legs crossed, flipping through her book with an air of detached indifference. The sunlight draped over her, inexplicably enhancing her aloof demeanor, as if she possessed a cold, divine aura.
Meanwhile, Bai Shuixi was contemplating how to handle Xia You.
During the system’s one-sided debate last night, she had managed to finish reading the original novel and roughly understood how the original owner had tormented the female lead, both physically and emotionally.
Mostly, it involved a lot of hugging, occasional kisses, and even pinning Xia You down for forced marking. The author really had no qualms about writing such scenes, completely disregarding the fate of a transmigrated task-taker like her.
Fortunately, the original owner’s cruelty was more verbal than physical, frequently bringing up Li Wei to make Xia You even more miserable.
The original owner was probably a bit of a sadist, she delighted in seeing Xia You cry and felt even more exhilarated knowing Xia You wanted to leave but couldn’t.
No wonder she ended up getting obliterated in the end.
As the task-taker, Bai Shuixi’s job was to stay as true to the original plot as possible and get obliterated sooner rather than later. Though the system stubbornly believed she had developed some special feelings for Xia You, Bai Shuixi didn’t agree.
Her impression of Xia You remained the same as when they first met not dislike, not repelled by her presence, even finding her somewhat attractive. But no matter how much she acknowledged Xia You’s beauty, she still thought the girl was a bit too stubborn.
To be so devoted to an alpha like Li Wei.
The sudden chime of the doorbell pulled Bai Shuixi out of her thoughts. It was probably Xia You.
She stood up, casually throwing on the shirt hanging nearby before opening the door with a lowered gaze only to see Xia You standing nervously at the threshold.
The moment Xia You saw her, she froze. Her gaze inadvertently swept over the slightly disheveled collar of Bai Shuixi’s shirt, then immediately flinched away as if scalded, her gentle eyes widening slightly in flustered surprise.
Before today, Xia You had always known Bai Shuixi was beautiful just never in this way.
She had always seemed cold and restrained, the kind of person who made others wary, fearful, eager to keep their distance.
Bai Shuixi hadn’t always been like this, either. She used to be far more reckless and volatile, exhausting Xia You to no end. But for some reason, recently, Bai Shuixi had changed completely. In just a few days, this new version of her had left a deeper impression on Xia You than months of their previous interactions.
Yet Xia You had never imagined she would see this side of Bai Shuixi.
The woman before her had a slightly undone shirt collar, not as immaculate as usual, revealing smooth collarbones and a pale glimpse of her chest. A dark red, form-fitting corset accentuated her waist and hinted at the curves beneath, while low-rise pants doubled the allure. Her freshly washed and blow-dried hair framed a gaze that was bold, untamed.
Xia You took an involuntary step back, turning her face away, unable to look at Bai Shuixi any longer.
Bai Shuixi watched Xia You’s flustered reaction with lowered eyes, calmly analyzing the microexpressions flickering across her face until she noticed Xia You’s crimson-tipped ears. She frowned slightly, puzzled.
What’s going on?
The system chimed in lazily: Looks like she’s embarrassed.
Bai Shuixi thought for a moment, then, with the system’s prompting, had an epiphany: Does Xia You actually like this?
Recalling Li Wei’s style subtly provocative, Bai Shuixi gave Xia You, who seemed so soft and demure, a complicated look.
I never would’ve guessed Xia You was into this type.
“W-What are you looking at?” Xia You clutched the file folder in her arms, her voice tinged with guilt as she glanced at Bai Shuixi.
Instead of answering, Bai Shuixi released the doorknob and stepped unhurriedly toward Xia You, leaning in slightly. Her calm, indifferent eyes locked onto Xia You’s gentle, clear ones.
The distance was too close. Close enough for Xia You to see the utter stillness in Bai Shuixi’s gaze, the sharp perfection of her features, the way her eyes slowly, deliberately traced over her.
Bai Shuixi’s clothes were still, still like that, and she was standing so near. Xia You didn’t know where to look. In her panic, every sensation felt amplified Bai Shuixi’s gaze seemed almost tangible, brushing against her cheek, her ear.
And then there was the faint, clean scent of Bai Shuixi’s shower gel, gradually filling the air around her, seeping into every breath.
Just as Xia You was about to retreat, Bai Shuixi pulled back first, stepping aside to reveal the doorway behind her.
“Come in,” she said flatly.
Xia You blinked. Huh?
Bai Shuixi continued observing her reaction, coming to a detached conclusion: Mm. Confirmed. Xia You really does like this style.
Honestly unexpected.
But if that was the case, maybe she should tease Xia You a little more?
“Don’t you want to know about Li Wei and Rixin Entertainment anymore?” Bai Shuixi leaned against the doorframe with one hand, reminding Xia You of her original purpose for agreeing to become her assistant.
Rixin Entertainment was the company that had signed Zhou Wanwan.
In terms of influence in the entertainment industry, Bai Shuixi’s Tianyin Entertainment couldn’t compare to Rixin Entertainment, but the capital behind her original identity far surpassed Rixin’s. Compared to Tianyin Group’s main business, the entertainment company was more like a side project for the original owner’s amusement.
Xia You seemed to recall this as well. Pressing her lips together, she hesitated before glancing at Bai Shuixi, then stepped inside with her document folder. Only after seeing Bai Shuixi close the door did she seem unable to hold back any longer: “Your, your clothes.”
“Oh, this?” Bai Shuixi casually tugged at her unbuttoned shirt.
She didn’t particularly care, she’d always just preferred dressing conservatively. But her figure was excellent, and occasionally showing a little didn’t make her feel awkward. Rather than saying she preferred restrained clothing, it was more accurate to say she disliked the admiring looks and subsequent advances it invited. Unnecessary conversations only bored her.
Though she didn’t exactly dislike how Xia You stubbornly tried to hide her embarrassment.
Xia You stood stiffly to the side, lips pressed tight. The faint scent of Bai Shuixi’s shower gel lingered in the air, impossible to ignore, and increasingly inappropriate images flooded her mind.
The dim office in the rain, tangled breaths, hands brushing against skin.
Damn pheromones!
If not for what had happened between them, if she hadn’t nearly been marked by Bai Shuixi, she wouldn’t be reacting like this!
Xia You clenched her fists, reminding herself that she was standing in the home of someone who had once bullied her. This alpha wasn’t trustworthy, unlikely to genuinely help her, and might even be plotting something she couldn’t refuse. Yet her gaze still drifted uncontrollably to Bai Shuixi, settling on the open collar of her shirt.
Slender, strong fingers slowly fastened each button with deliberate care.
“What’s wrong?” Bai Shuixi studied Xia You’s conflicted expression, the way she bit her lip while staring and frowned slightly. Did the original owner’s fashion sense really bother her that much?
Xia You snapped back to reality and averted her face. “Nothing. Shouldn’t we get to business?”
Bai Shuixi tilted her head, noting Xia You’s flushed cheeks and stiff tone. Rather than taking offense, she simply chuckled and walked into the living room. “Slippers are in the entryway closet the pink pair is yours. Come in.”
She settled back into the wicker chair. “Let me see the documents.”
Xia You dawdled while changing shoes before awkwardly approaching and handing over the folder. Bai Shuixi undid the sealed flap and reviewed the contents, Xia You’s prepared employment information. After scanning the hobbies and skills section, she returned the papers to the envelope. “My secretary will process your onboarding tomorrow. Then you’ll officially be part of Tianyin.”
“And when can I—” Xia You pressed about her main concern.
“Are you asking about joining a project that Li Wei is involved in?” Bai Shuixi looked up at Xia You, finishing the sentence Xia You hadn’t completed.
“Yes,” Xia You nodded.
It wasn’t surprising that Xia You would ask after all, she had initially agreed to be her assistant because of Li Wei. However, Bai Shuixi’s mission was indeed to forcibly take and seize from Xia You, making it impossible for her to have an easy time “working.”
“Didn’t you promise me you’d work hard?” Bai Shuixi tilted her head slightly, a faint smile curving her lips. “Let’s start by completing your ‘onboarding training’ properly.”
