From Trashy A to the Heiress’s Little Son-in-Law After the Idol Competition (GL, ABO) - Chapter 4
Xiao Yanjin awkwardly chuckled, “Is there a problem?” They were both women, what could possibly be the issue?
Ji Yunuo didn’t show any visible surprise, but a flicker of astonishment flashed through her cold gaze.
A problem? Oh, there was a huge problem.
An alpha suddenly barging into an Omega’s restroom, if that wasn’t perverted, what was?
As Ji Yunuo walked over, Xiao Yanjin instinctively stepped aside.
When the breeze swept past, Ji Yunuo’s dark hair fluttered, carrying with it a faint, icy fragrance unexpectedly pleasant.
“This is the Omega restroom. You’re an alpha. Do you really see no issue with that?”
She extended her jade-like slender hands to rinse them under the faucet, her voice frosty.
Meanwhile, Xiao Yanjin had already dashed out to check the restroom signs. It was only her first day transmigrating into this world, and she hadn’t yet adjusted to the fact that there were six genders here!
Six genders… Were restrooms hotels now, with so many sections?!
The signs for female Omegas, female alphas, and betas all depicted a red, skirted female figure, only the skirts grew progressively longer.
A vein throbbed in Xiao Yanjin’s forehead. Could the signs be any more idiotic?! Since when did skirts exclusively represent women?!
Ji Yunuo finished washing her hands and walked out, casting her a cold glance.
“My apologies, Miss Ji. I misread the sign. I hope I didn’t cause you any trouble?” Xiao Yanjin had no choice but to apologize.
Ji Yunuo didn’t leave. Instead, she straightened up.
“You’re apologizing to me?” Her voice carried its usual icy detachment, devoid of warmth.
Xiao Yanjin: Well, duh.
“Rumor has it you dropped out of high school and spent your days loitering in bars. I suppose your understanding of relationships is just as chaotic. You walked into the wrong restroom… I don’t blame you. After all, this sort of behavior is hardly surprising from someone like you.”
Ji Yunuo’s sharp gaze pinned her down. Though her tone remained calm and composed, there was a cutting edge to it as if she were peeling open Xiao Yanjin’s chest to expose her shame.
She never outright said her blind date was beneath her, but every word and gesture made it abundantly clear she looked down on Xiao Yanjin.
Her disdain was palpable. It was only natural she’d want to humiliate Xiao Yanjin thoroughly.
But,
Xiao Yanjin burst out laughing. “For real? Did I really walk into the wrong restroom before?”
Ji Yunuo: “…”
Xiao Yanjin suddenly leaned in, whispering by her ear, “Could it be… Miss Ji has been keeping tabs on my past behavior? I’m truly honored.”
“Xiao Yanjin, today you’ve surprised me,” Ji Yunuo said, maintaining her composure, her eyelids lifting lazily. “You should know what comes next.”
Xiao Yanjin raised her gaze, but Ji Yunuo had already walked away.
She chuckled. What else could possibly happen now?
When the two returned one after the other, Wei Qin’s face instantly paled, her grip tightening around Ji Zhiye’s hand.
Feeling his wife’s cold sweat, Ji Zhiye sighed and steeled himself.
“Ah Mu, your daughter is quite something, but our Nuonuo…” Ji Zhiye raised his voice deliberately, hoping to shame Xiao Yanjin, only to glance over and find her counting the legs on a shrimp?!
“Apologies, but after some discussion, we feel Yunuo is still young. Marriage shouldn’t be rushed into.”
Xiao Liangmu was visibly disappointed. He had hoped this arranged marriage would secure the Ji family’s support for the Xiao family. Unfortunately, his daughter just couldn’t measure up.
Ji Zhiye glanced at Xiao Yanjin once more was she actually picking at her nails?!
Ji Zhiye cleared her throat. It was the first time she had encountered someone so indifferent. Her daughter was so beautiful and outstanding, how could anyone remain so calm about it?
“So, I plan to let them spend more time together. Perhaps, with time, they’ll grow fond of each other,” Ji Zhiye said with a smile. She couldn’t tolerate anyone being dismissive of her daughter.
Beside her, Wei Qin nearly rolled her eyes and fainted.
Xiao Yanjin, as if hearing the most absurd joke, said, “Auntie Ji, are you joking with me?”
Ji Yi shook his head firmly. “No, no. Let me make this clear, Xiao Yanjin is simply not good enough for Nuonuo.”
Xiao Liangmu frowned. “Old Master Ji, that’s rather blunt, don’t you think?”
Ji Yi scoffed. “The whole world already knows what kind of character your daughter has. Why should I mince words?”
“Old Master Ji, you’ve known my Ajin since she was a child. How can you say such things about her?” Liang Zhi snapped angrily.
“Mom, don’t be upset,” Xiao Yanjin interjected gracefully, holding her back. She picked up a wine glass filled to the brim and stepped between them.
First, she approached Ji Yi, a glint flashing in her eyes. “Old Master Ji, I understand how protective you are of your granddaughter. However—”
Her tone shifted as she turned to Wei Qin, a faint smile playing on her lips. “But I, Xiao Yanjin, have always been a free spirit. I’ve encountered no less than eighty different types of Omegas someone like Miss Ji is hardly new to me.”
Wei Qin’s brow twitched, suppressing the fury simmering within.
Xiao Yanjin then moved behind Ji Yunuo. She took a sip of wine, leaning slightly closer, and suddenly noticed a faint, cool fragrance emanating from her.
Her voice dropped to a magnetic murmur. “Don’t worry, Miss Ji. I wouldn’t dare fancy you.”
Ji Yunuo remained unmoved, like a mountain.
“But you’re too proud,” Xiao Yanjin whispered, bending down to her ear, her Alpha voice soft and teasing. “Though you have every right to be. If Miss Ji ever feels lonely and can’t find company, you’re welcome to seek me out. I may be a flirt, but I’m not bad-looking. Feel free to mark me anytime.”
Ji Yunuo maintained her poised posture, her slender fingers tightening imperceptibly.
“Xiao Yanjin!” Ji Yi roared. “What nonsense are you spouting? Shameless creature!”
“Everyone.” Suddenly, Ji Yunuo, who had been silent all this while, stood up.
Her demeanor was icy, as if even her own mother couldn’t breach the distance.
“Fifty minutes have passed since this blind date began. I’ve heard every single word you’ve said. But let me ask while you’ve been arranging and debating compatibility, did any of you ever consider our opinions?” Ji Yunuo spoke deliberately, each syllable crisp and unwavering.
“I have my own judgment. I don’t need your interference. This blind date was absurd from the start. I came only to abide by your rules. As for—”
She glanced at Xiao Yanjin, her eyes flashing with cold amusement. “Being with someone I have no feelings for is out of the question.”
Hearing this, Wei Qin, who had been on the verge of fainting, perked up with renewed vigor.
Ten seconds of silence passed before someone clapped. Once, twice the sound was particularly jarring.
All eyes turned to the source of the applause.
Xiao Yanjin’s expression remained calm as she clapped steadily and firmly, as if keeping time. Then she raised a thumbs-up.
“Well said!” she shouted.
“You!” Xiao Liangmu was momentarily speechless. Although he prided himself on thinking Xiao Yanjin wasn’t worthy of the other party, once an Omega developed feelings, not even a thousand oxen could pull them back. His daughter should be more proactive in making Ji Yunuo develop a favorable impression of her.
“Zhiye, perhaps we really shouldn’t force the children. Even though they played together as kids, it’s been five years since they last saw each other. How could feelings develop so quickly? Maybe we should step back and let them talk more,” Xiao Liangmu said hopefully.
Ji Zhiye nodded. “Alright, let’s leave them be for now.”
Wei Qin helplessly massaged her temples. Forget about staying to nurture feelings they might as well just pack up and leave.
Xiao Liangmu shot Xiao Yanjin a meaningful look, urging her to use her pheromones.
Pheromones were unique scents only alphas and Omegas could emit, with each person’s scent being distinct.
For instance, the original body’s pheromone was a milky fragrance, while Ji Yunuo’s carried the scent of roses.
Whether from an Omega or an alpha, if they intentionally released a strong concentration of their pheromones, it could induce physical changes in the opposite s3x. This could serve as a form of intimacy between AO couples or attract the opposite s3x to develop feelings.
However, because of this, many ill-intentioned alphas often exploited pheromones to force Omegas into premature heat. During heat, an Omega’s immune system weakened, leaving them unable to resist.
The alpha would then take the opportunity to mark them. A marked Omega would develop a sense of dependence, gradually falling in love with the alpha who marked them.
Such behavior was undoubtedly illegal and morally reprehensible.
As a paragon of modern womanhood, how could Xiao Yanjin disregard a woman’s consent and force a mark?
So, she rolled her eyes at her father in disdain.
Once everyone had left, the empty room held only the two of them.
“You played well earlier,” Ji Yunuo said, pouring a glass of wine and raising it in a toast.
“Thanks for the compliment,” Xiao Yanjin replied with a smile.
After a long silence, Ji Yunuo finally spoke. “Actually, you’re not the same as before.”
Xiao Yanjin nodded. “People change.”
“My elders were quite aggressive with you earlier. I apologize on their behalf.”
“No need to apologize. They were right after all, who would want their precious treasure to be snatched away by a pig? If they just handed you over to someone worthless, they wouldn’t be family.”
Ji Yunuo smiled faintly. A true socialite was different, even her smile was restrained. Yet, her eyes still gleamed coldly, as if the smile was merely an act.
“What’s wrong?” Xiao Yanjin raised an eyebrow. “Do you find it funny that I called myself a pig, Miss Ji?”
Ji Yunuo took a sip of wine before setting the glass down. Her cool voice drifted like a breeze to Xiao Yanjin’s ears. “Don’t sell yourself short. Someone who can defeat a university literature professor is no pig.”
Xiao Yanjin’s heart jolted, and for a moment, she felt unsteady on her feet.
“You were quite right earlier, they carried on their discussion without consulting us, which was indeed a flawed approach. But may I ask, does Miss Ji not have someone she likes?”
Ji Yunuo’s lips curved slightly, her eyes glimmering faintly as she replied softly, “I will never have someone I like.”
“Oh?”
Ji Yunuo picked up a damp tissue and wiped her fingertips until they gleamed like polished jade.
Xiao Yanjin chuckled lightly, observing her aloof demeanor. The idea of her having romantic feelings for anyone would indeed be surprising.
Xiao Yanjin burst into laughter. “Well, that’s not so strange. As I said before, if Miss Ji ever feels lonely, you’re welcome to come to me.” If she was going to be obnoxious, she might as well commit to it fully.
Ji Yunuo remained composed and countered, “You seem quite eager for that, don’t you?”
A cold sweat broke out on Xiao Yanjin’s back. She had only recently transmigrated into this world, how was she supposed to know about “marking”? Besides, the original owner of this body didn’t seem to have marked anyone either.
“It’s getting late. I should head back.” Xiao Yanjin stood up, unwilling to waste any more time. She and Ji Yunuo were fundamentally different, whether it was the original owner’s identity or her own from her previous world, neither could compare to this socialite. For that very reason, she intended to keep her distance.
“Goodbye.” And hopefully, never meet again.
Ji Yunuo finished her glass of wine.
Her feigned warmth once again gave way to cold detachment. She was not one to give up until she achieved her goals.
Her return from abroad wasn’t about inheriting the family business.
It was about fulfilling her own dreams, how could she ever lower herself to marriage?
Impossible. Absolutely impossible.
