- Chapter 6: Conversation on the Jade Chamber
The Jade Chamber is a flying palace propelled by levitation stones, and it is the private residence of Ningguang, one of Liyue Qixing, known as “Tianquan.”
On a clear day, standing on the deck outside the palace gates offers a panoramic view of a significant portion of Liyue Harbor.
Whether it is the magnificent appearance or the height from which one can overlook Liyue, it indisputably signifies Ningguang’s preeminent position among the merchants of Liyue Harbor.
Initially, it was the size of a room, but now it can shield the true Silver Moon in the sky above Liyue. A considerable portion of the wealth earned by Ningguang has been used to continuously expand the Jade Chamber, making it increasingly grand and opulent.
In Ningguang’s view, the Jade Chamber symbolizes her authority and vision, serving as a testament to the prosperity of her business.
Normally, entry is prohibited for others, but today… a special guest has arrived.
“Weren’t you going to Inazuma? Why have you returned?” Ningguang inquired, looking at Beidou, who was carrying the Blackcliff Slasher in one hand and a wooden box in the other.
The relationship between them was evident from Beidou being able to bring these items onto the Jade Chamber.
“There was a slight issue on the way, and I thought it necessary to inform you,” Beidou answered, nonchalantly picking up the tea on the table and drinking it in one gulp.
After finishing, she furrowed her brow.
Indeed, compared to alcohol, this stuff was truly hard to swallow.
“Are you talking about the Fatui’s Brigade?” Ningguang asked, sitting against the railing and gazing at the Liyue Harbor beneath the night sky.
“Hmm? How did you know?” Beidou was slightly surprised, pausing her action of spitting out tea leaves.
She had intended to keep it a secret and tease Ningguang a bit longer.
She didn’t expect Ningguang to guess it so quickly.
“The importance of the resistance movement in Inazuma is clear to both you and me. The fact that you returned midway can only mean it’s related to the Fatui’s Brigade, right?” Ningguang lightly chuckled.
Beidou’s trip to Inazuma this time was not so much to assist the resistance movement as it was to investigate the situation with the Fatui’s Brigade over there.
It seemed that the information she brought back would be more valuable than what was happening in Inazuma.
“The Fatui’s Brigade has a new 12th Harbinger. Have you heard about it?”
“Of course, my proficiency in gathering intelligence is not weak,” Ningguang replied confidently.
The Fatui’s Brigade has always infiltrated various countries under various pretexts, so why wouldn’t the other six nations have their own moles in Snezhnaya?
She received the news shortly after the Fatui’s Brigade announced the appointment of the 12th Harbinger.
She only knew that the person was the Ausbilder of the Pyro Agent, but she didn’t know what he looked like or what his strength was.
“Do you know that he was originally from Liyue?” Beidou lowered her voice when she uttered the second half of her sentence.
Her words surprised Ningguang.
“Liyue?!”
“That’s right. Judging from his accent, he’s from the Lisha District. He not only speaks Liyue, but he also has acquaintances here. That’s what he asked me to bring back,” Beidou said as she gently pushed the wooden box at her feet forward.
Although her subordinates had already checked it, and the box of coconut milk had no issues, Beidou decided to let Ningguang take a look, just to avoid any unexpected incidents after it was delivered to Qiqi.
“This is… coconut milk?” Ningguang took out a bottle of the dairy product and sniffed it.
Although she rarely drank this stuff, she had come into contact with this uniquely flavored beverage due to a special presence in Liyue Harbor.
“Does he know Qiqi?” This was the first time Ningguang frowned today.
On the surface, Qiqi was just a young girl and apprentice in a medicinal shop, but she also possessed the body of an undying body of a zombie alongside a Cyro Vision..
But based on Ningguang’s understanding of Qiqi, she didn’t seem to know a Liyue person who was far away in Snezhnaya, right?
No… as an undying adeptus, Qiqi’s true age was much more than many people of Liyue, Ningguang included, so it would not be a surprise if she were at one point in time acquainted with people all over the continent.
“What else did the Ausbilder say?”
Sealing the box of coconut milk, Ningguang looked at Beidou.
She needed more information to determine the identity of the person.
“He said, ‘A gift for Qiqi, tell her… it’s from Xiao Bai.’ Those were his exact words,” Beidou faithfully relayed Bai Luo’s words, fully aware of the importance of the matter.
Especially the significant appellation, Xiao Bai.
“Bai?” Like Beidou, upon hearing the name Xiao Bai, Ningguang immediately thought of the boss of Bubu Pharmacy, the person known as Baizhu.
“I haven’t heard whether Mr. Bai has any siblings, but since the person called himself Xiao Bai, there’s a high probability that he has some connection to Mr. Bai. However…”
Taking her wine bottle from her waist, Beidou took a sip and offered another thought that had been lingering in her mind.
“Is it possible that he just happens to know Mr. Bai, as well as the existence of Qiqi, and deliberately said that to make us suspicious?”
“That’s absolutely impossible.” Without hesitation, Ningguang dismissed her speculation.
“Qiqi likes drinking coconut milk. This is not something that many people in all of Liyue Harbor know, only a few people who are close to her are aware of this. The fact that he knows… it’s highly likely that he really knew Qiqi.”
‘Xiao Bai… knows Qiqi… Lisha District… Wait a minute? Lisha District?’
“Are you saying that he has an accent from the Lisha District?”
“Yes, probably the southern part of the Lisha District. I have people from there on my ship, and I am very familiar with their accents. I wouldn’t mistake it,” Beidou confirmed.
“Could it be him?”
Ningguang’s gaze turned toward the direction of the Lisha District, and her delicate eyebrows furrowed once again.
She had also inquired about why Qiqi liked this uniquely flavored dairy product.
At first, she thought that Qiqi had been given the drink by some strange person in Liyue Harbor.
But Qiqi gave her an unexpected answer.
“a friend gave it to me, it’s cool… and delicious.”
Could it be that the friend Qiqi mentioned was the Fatui’s Brigade’s 12th Harbinger, the Ausbilder who called himself Xiao Bai?
“Let’s go. We’re paying a visit to Bubu Pharmacy.”
Ningguang waved her right hand, and Geo constructs formed a tray, lifting the coconut milk that Beidou had placed on the ground.
Instead of speculating here, it would be better to go directly and ask the person in question.
Although Qiqi’s memory was not very good, she had a habit of taking notes. Perhaps in her notes, they could find some traces of this Xiao Bai.
“Are you taking this as well? Shouldn’t your people inspect it again?” Beidou asked, wondering why Ningguang wanted to take it with them.
Beidou brought it over because Ningguang had more professional inspectors here.
According to her suggestion, it would be more appropriate to have it checked again before sending it over.
After all, it was a gift from the Fatui’s Brigade’s Harbinger.
