Getting Caught Up In His Cycle Of Passionate Love - Chapter 1
Her daughter was born to be with the blonde guy.
“Ding—your takeout order has been successfully shared by another user. Enjoy your meal~”
“Your item has been successfully helped by another user. Only one more gold coin left to take it home~ Cut another price to enjoy more discounts~”
Xu Tao Yue stood there dumbfounded, holding her phone and wearing bear-print pajamas. She rubbed her eyes, still not quite processing where she was, when an unknown object came flying toward her from across the street.
“Holy—” Xu Tao Yue’s eyes widened.
Dodge.
Successfully avoided the unknown object!
Xu Tao Yue froze in place and turned to look around. One second, she had been at home resting after submitting her manuscript. The next, she appeared on a chaotic street.
A crowd had gathered around a few people, chattering loudly. Explosive phrases drifted to her ears.
“He slept with someone else and you still believe him? Are you brain-dead?”
“As long as they didn’t do it in front of me, I’ll always believe him! Stop trying to drive a wedge between us! I don’t believe you!”
Xu Tao Yue was stunned by the sheer absurdity of what she’d just heard, unable to comprehend it for a moment. The rotten egg thrown earlier was still lying at her feet. Then she suddenly realized—
Wait a minute… that line sounds oddly familiar.
She tried to make sense of her current situation.
That line… wasn’t that from the dumb book she was reading earlier?
She recalled what had just happened.
How did she suddenly end up here?
Come to think of it… was she choked to death by her takeout from the group order app??
Five minutes earlier—
Xu Tao Yue had rushed out of her room after receiving the takeout notification. After making sure the coast was clear, she grabbed the food from the doormat and rushed back to her room to eat while continuing to curse the absurd romance novel she was reading.
The book was titled:
“Love You to the End of My Life: Trivial Matters Blocked by the Partition Called Romance”
It was driving her nuts. Honestly, she felt the male and female supporting characters were the real obstacles in this story.
In her opinion, this novel should’ve never existed. The female lead was a green tea bimbo with no self-awareness, and the male lead was a people-pleaser who treated everyone well.
The FL was dumb beyond repair—she believed whatever a man told her. Even if she saw them naked in bed, she’d still defend the ML, saying stuff like—
Ah yes, exactly the lines she just heard.
In the book, the FL threw her purse at a man and said:
“Didn’t you see he fainted? If I don’t see them doing it with my own eyes, it doesn’t count as cheating! You don’t need to go to such lengths to break us up!”
Xu Tao Yue couldn’t take it anymore. She felt like she’d choke on this garbage food or die of rage from the stupidity in the book.
Rather than dying mad, she decided to take it out on the author and went to leave a scathing review.
“What kind of dumbass plot is this? The only sane person, Lu Que, gets killed off by this heartless author? Give me back my baby Lu Que!”
As she was furiously typing this comment and chewing her food, she accidentally swallowed a bone.
It got stuck in her throat. Her face turned red. She choked and blacked out.
Back to present—
Taking a deep breath, Xu Tao Yue almost wanted to cry at her own stupidity.
She had actually choked to death. Unbelievable.
Now an NPC in this brainless novel, Xu Tao Yue decided to fully embrace it and slack off.
The crowd who had been gawking at the FL had dispersed, leaving Xu Tao Yue standing in the street, recalling the plot.
“Xu Tao Yue! What are you standing there for? You’ve been down there ten minutes already. Where’s the stuff I asked for?”
A middle-aged woman yelled from a small second-floor balcony, then dumped a bucket of water down—landing just 10 cm away from her.
Xu Tao Yue flinched and frowned:
“Excuse me, ma’am—who are you?”
“Ma’am??”
The woman, swearing under her breath, stomped downstairs, tossed her bucket into another basin with a loud clang, and marched over to Xu Tao Yue.
She grabbed her ear.
“What, you got guts now? Don’t even recognize your own mother? Ever since your dad and I divorced, your heart flew away too?”
A raging mom. A cheating dad. A starving little brother. A green tea bimbo self.
Was this really her character in the book?
Terrible setup.
But under someone else’s roof, she had no choice. Xu Tao Yue quickly sized up the situation and dropped to her knees.
“M-Mommy! I didn’t mean it!”
The woman (Mrs. Xu) was speechless.
Xu Tao Yue gently removed her hand from her ear and rubbed it.
Mrs. Xu just sighed, turned away, and instructed:
“Don’t forget the green onions. Your brother likes them.”
Xu Tao Yue’s ear felt like it had doubled in size:
“Of course. As his sister, I must get them for him.”
Mrs. Xu slapped her lightly:
“What are you babbling about?”
After Mrs. Xu went back upstairs, Xu Tao Yue sighed and trudged to the supermarket.
Still unfamiliar with the area, she wandered through alleys and finally found a narrow one where her map pointed.
“This is it…?” she muttered.
The alley was dark and creepy—definitely the kind of place where a fight scene would happen in a novel.
“What are you sneaking around for?” a voice suddenly asked.
Xu Tao Yue jumped, startled.
Perfect—exactly what she was afraid of.
She turned around slowly, gave a fake smile, and almost dropped to her knees again:
“Bro, I didn’t mean to walk in. I’m not here to witness your fight. Please don’t hit me. I’m delicate and frail—one punch and I’ll be done. I’m begging you—spare me.”
A soft chuckle came from above.
Xu Tao Yue glanced up—then froze.
Holy hell.
A face that handsome?
A man that hot??
She was stunned speechless. All she could think was:
So hot. So hot. So hot.
Blonde hair shimmering under the sunset, tall and lean, porcelain skin… he was a walking runway model.
She wiped imaginary drool and boldly approached:
“Excuse me, handsome. What’s your name? Can I get to know you?”
Someone nearby teased:
“Oho, Lu-ge’s still got it, huh?”
Lu-ge?
Wait—LU QUE?!
Xu Tao Yue immediately realized—this was Lu Que.
Her beloved Lu Que!
The only normal person in the book!
The poor guy who got sidelined for not bending to the protagonist group!
He really was everything she imagined.
Lu Que raised an eyebrow, slightly amused:
“Where’d this brat come from? If you don’t scram—”
She cut him off. This chance was too good.
“You’re Lu Que, right?”
“I’m not,” he replied.
She didn’t care. Stepping onto a higher step, she declared:
“A fortune teller once told me I’d fall in love at first sight with someone named Lu Que. I think he was right.”
Lu Que: “?”
“Tell my mom!”
Lu Que instinctively reached out to steady her, worried she might fall. Confused, he asked:
“What?”
“Her daughter was born to be with a blonde guy.”
Lu Que: “…”
“Wooooow!”
The crowd burst into cheers again. Lu Que pulled Xu Tao Yue into a corner, glaring at the onlookers.
But his intimidating look had zero effect. The gossip-hungry crowd only got louder.
Lu Que couldn’t believe this innocent-looking girl just dropped such shameless lines. His ears turned bright red. Realizing he was still holding her wrist, he quickly let go.
“You… you’re so shameless.”
Xu Tao Yue smiled sweetly.
Exactly. If she had any shame, Lu Que would’ve ended up in the FL’s arms.
“It’s okay. One of us having shame is enough.”
Lu Que rolled his eyes:
“Who’s your family?”
Hearing this, Xu Tao Yue was elated. Blushing teenage boys were her favorite type.
But she still had a task to do.
“Lu Que, do you know where the supermarket is? I’ve been looking forever.”
She pouted:
“If I don’t buy what my brother likes, my mom might hit me…”
Lu Que pointed out a road, clearly hoping to get rid of her.
But Xu Tao Yue whipped out her phone and flashed her QR code:
“Since we’re so fated, how about adding me on WeChat?”
If she lost track of him, how would she find him again?
“Are you hitting on me, Xu Tao Yue?”
She raised her brow, thinking it over.
“If that’s how you want to see it… I guess so.”
Lu Que leaned back against the wall, his eyes reflecting her face:
“I don’t add unimportant people on WeChat.”
Xu Tao Yue pouted:
“But I’m your future girlfriend. Doesn’t that count?”
Ignoring her, Lu Que walked away.
She watched him go, heart aching.
Of course, someone like him wouldn’t fall so easily.
Still, he was so freaking hot.
She checked the time—it was almost 3 p.m.—and rushed in the direction he pointed.
Only to find herself in front of a building with a giant sign:
“Psychiatric Hospital.”
She double-checked. Yup. Lu Que had sent her here.
A security guard walked up:
“Miss, do you need help?”
Xu Tao Yue: “…No, thank you.”
Back home, Mrs. Xu scolded her:
“What took you so long just to buy some veggies?”
No way was she going to admit she took a detour to the mental hospital.
Mrs. Xu snatched the items and sent her away:
“Go keep your brother company. Don’t get in my way.”
She dragged herself to the bedroom, opened the door, and saw…
A furry border collie licking its paws.
Xu Tao Yue blinked.
So the brother… is a dog??
She grabbed the dog and hauled him into the kitchen, lifting his paw and waving:
“Mom, look! Your son!”
Mrs. Xu turned to see her daughter waving her son’s paw like an idiot and chuckled.
“You must be starving. It’s your fault for being so late! Now go outside—I’ll be done soon. Keep an eye on your brother.”
Xu Tao Yue was genuinely touched for a moment.
In real life, she was an orphan. She’d never experienced warmth like this before.
Never.
She lifted the dog in her arms and teased:
“You’re so heavy, little bro.”
The dog tried to escape but failed, resigning to being manhandled.
After dinner, Mrs. Xu told her:
“School starts tomorrow. I bought your ticket. Go sleep early.”
Xu Tao Yue stared at the clock—it was only 5 p.m.
“Where are you going with the dog?”
“To dance in the square! I’m the leader of the dance group—can’t leave them hanging.”
Xu Tao Yue: “…”
