- Chapter 13 - Water Crisis
[Acquired Skill Book: Holy Light Healing (Cleric Exclusive)]
Although it wasn’t a class skill book for Hunters, Han Xing remembered that Shen Yun had chosen the Cleric class.
Just then, someone in the Trading Channel sent a private message, wanting to trade for his green longbow.
“Oh? Has someone finally obtained a green equipment blueprint?”
Han Xing opened the private chat and discovered it was from someone named ‘Smart Lamb’ (聪明小羊).
A voice message appeared in the chat window, and Han Xing clicked to play it. (T/N: Apparently, there’s a voice message feature, along with video calls and a live streaming feature that will be introduced in later chapters.)
“Hello… I would like to trade for your weapon, are you available now?”
The voice was that of a girl, soft and sweet, yet natural, not at all affected, just like her usual tone.
Han Xing replied, “Yes, what would you like to trade?”
Smart Lamb: “I… I see you need a green equipment blueprint, I happen to have one… h-how about you… take a look at it first?”
She seemed a bit afraid of Han Xing, or perhaps she was just not used to communicating normally.
“Send it over to me to take a look,” Han Xing said directly.
“O-okay…”
[Survivor ‘Smart Lamb’ has initiated a trade request with you.]
Han Xing: “…”
“Why are you initiating a trade? Weren’t you going to show me the blueprint first?”
Smart Lamb hurriedly said, “Ah? Isn’t it necessary to give you the item so you can see its properties?”
Han Xing: “…”
“What are you talking about? If you give me the item, wouldn’t that complete the trade? If I just took your item and ran off, who would you trade with then?”
Smart Lamb: “???” (・・?)
“No… no way… right? You wouldn’t just take my item and run away… would you?”
Han Xing was left speechless. This woman didn’t seem right in the head.
He really wanted to say, “I would.”
But after thinking it over, he said, “Forget it, just put the item in the trade bar, and I’ll check the properties.”
“Huh? O-okay!” Smart Lamb responded hesitantly.
Then, Han Xing saw a green blueprint appear in the trade bar.
[Beast Skin Coat Blueprint (Green)]
It was indeed a green equipment blueprint, and it was for a coat.
Han Xing immediately thought about acquiring it.
Normally, Han Xing would haggle for a while, trying to get a better deal.
But considering this woman seemed a bit clueless, he decided to skip that.
Han Xing placed his excellent quality longbow in the trade, and then completed the transaction.
[Acquired Beast Skin Coat Blueprint (Green), do you wish to learn it?]
“Learn it.”
In the blueprint section, a fifth blueprint appeared, and Han Xing smiled with satisfaction.
At that moment, Smart Lamb sent Han Xing a message.
“Th-thank you…”
Han Xing replied, “No need to thank me, we both got what we needed. Just remember not to trade your items to strangers so casually next time.”
Smart Lamb: “Yes! Thank you!”
After closing the private chat.
Han Xing’s expression shifted as he glanced at the blueprint section again, his excitement evident.
[Materials required for crafting Beast Skin Coat: 1-Star Beast Skin x3, Spirit Core x20, Ether x50, Warrior’s Badge x1.]
The materials required to make the Beast Skin Coat were quite numerous, including three pieces of 1-Star Beast Skin, which he had just obtained from dissecting Snake Skins.
Additionally, he needed 20 Spirit Cores, 50 Ether, and 1 Warrior’s Badge.
He had the first two materials, but he had never heard of the ‘Warrior’s Badge’.
So, he continued to search for information in the Trading Channel.
Soon, he found a survivor named ‘Cola’ who was offering a Warrior’s Badge for 500g of food.
The price was reasonable, and Han Xing immediately opened a private chat.
“500g of Snake Meat for a Warrior’s Badge.”
Two seconds later, Cola quickly replied, “Dude, I don’t want food anymore, do you have water? Give me 400ml, no, 300ml will do!”
Han Xing checked his bag for drinking water, and after accounting for his own consumption, he had less than 600ml left.
Considering how long he had been exploring and fighting, it was indeed not much drinking water.
This was the case for Han Xing, and other survivors were likely getting even less water.
Han Xing guessed that everyone was probably in a severe state of water shortage.
Glancing at the Trading Channel, he indeed saw a lot of people changing their trade offers to water.
The chat channel was also full of lamentations.
“Thirsty… so thirsty…”
“I’m so thirsty too, there’s too little water in this world, we’re all going to die of thirst!”
“Does anyone have water? I can’t hold on much longer…”
Han Xing suddenly remembered that when he played this mobile game, he indeed almost died due to a lack of water, nearly resulting in a game over.
It was only after he struggled for several days that a heavy rain suddenly fell from the sky, solving his subsequent water resource issues.
Han Xing didn’t know the situation in other Area Channels, but for Channel 107, at least, they would have to wait for a heavy rain so that everyone wouldn’t be troubled by the lack of water anymore.
However, how many people could hold on until then?
Thinking this, Han Xing directly said to the survivor named Cola, “Brother, I don’t have much water here either, I can only give you 200ml at most.”
Han Xing had to consider his own needs. Trading away 200ml would just barely allow him to hold on for another day.
He thought the other party would bargain with him, but to his surprise, Cola immediately responded with excitement, “Deal! 200ml it is then, let’s trade right away!”
As if he was afraid that Han Xing would change his mind, the other party immediately sent a trade request to Han Xing.
[Trade completed, you obtained Warrior’s Badge x1, you have lost 200ml of Drinking Water.]
Han Xing held a leather material badge in his hand, deep in thought.
Meanwhile.
Somewhere else in a Sky Island Territory, Lei Wei’s complexion turned ugly as he looked at the group chat he had established.
Many people were opposing the decision he had just made.
As the major shareholder of Lei Group, Lei Wei addressed the crowd, saying, “Everyone, listen to me. Our Lei Group is a big family, and once you join us, you become part of that family.”
“I know that everyone is currently short on water resources. I’m asking you all to hand them over to me not because I want to hoard them, but because I want to make a fair distribution to our family members who are about to die of thirst.”
“In these difficult times, our Lei Group needs to stay united and get through this together.”
“You have to trust me. This time, anyone who voluntarily contributes water, I will remember your contribution, and you will not be treated unfairly in the future.”
The group chat fell silent, the atmosphere a bit strange.
At that moment, a person named Chen Anjiang spoke up, “President Lei, when you asked us to hand over materials and equipment before, everyone did so, including food, because we all believed that you could lead us to develop and survive.”
“But water, this is our lifeline, and we don’t even have enough for ourselves, so…”
