- Chapter 25 - Elite Creature, Advanced Area Unlocked
The clouds dispersed, revealing a completely snow-white creature within.
[Ice Frost Slime (1-Star Creature)]
[Level: LV3]
[Strength: 10, Dexterity: 7, Wisdom: 8, Constitution: 8]
[Skills: Frost Armor, Snowball Spit]
As this round creature, exuding a faint chill, emerged, Han Xing unhesitatingly shot an arrow.
“Wind Chasing Arrow, go!”
The Refined Iron Arrow carried the wind’s essence, flying unimaginably fast.
Its powerful penetration shattered the slime’s icy exterior instantly.
Crack!
With a crisp sound, the ice shell fractured.
The arrow, along with its fletching, drove straight into the slime’s body…
The Ice Frost Slime trembled violently.
Han Xing’s eyes gleamed—he had hit a weak point.
“Tsk tsk, after upgrading my gear, my attack power really is different. Who’d have thought I could severely injure a Level 3 monster with a single shot?”
“Lucky for you, you’re just a slime. If you were a humanoid creature with a head, this arrow would’ve been a headshot, hahahaha.”
Hearing Han Xing’s eerie laughter, the Ice Frost Slime widened its eyes in terror.
“Poor slime, let me shoot—I mean, let me free you from your misery!”
Han Xing drew his bowstring again and fired a second arrow. A system notification popped up:
[Successfully Killed Ice Frost Slime LV3. Gained +30 XP.]
[Your Territory Area Has Been Expanded.]
After merging the slime’s territory, Han Xing’s territory area reached 72 m³, and he still held the 1st rank on the leaderboard.
Without stopping, Han Xing quickly moved to explore other clouds.
[Successfully Killed Red Fire Fox LV3. Gained +30 XP. Your Territory Area Has Been Expanded.]
[Successfully Killed Black Mane Wild Boar LV3. Gained +30 XP. Your Territory Area Has Been Expanded.]
[Successfully Killed …]
One system notification after another appeared. From morning until sunset, Han Xing hadn’t rested for a moment.
In the process of exploring clouds, he encountered numerous monsters:
Emerald Frogs, Lightning Slimes, groups of Stooped Wild Boars…
One by one, they fell under his arrows.
Han Xing earned a huge amount of experience, and his experience bar reached 90% of Level 2.
At the same time, his territory area nearly doubled. On the Territory Points Leaderboard, Han Xing firmly held the top position with 129 points.
He was also the only one whose territory area had surpassed triple digits.
Currently in 2nd place was the dark horse Papaya Star Spirit, who had overtaken Whisperer and Black Hawk with 95 points.
However, the gap wasn’t large, as the others were close behind.
Han Xing thought to himself: “The competition for the leaderboard is really fierce.”
Little did he know, the chat channel in Area 107 was in chaos over the rankings.
The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th positions were all held by players affiliated with major factions. Additionally, several others in the top 10 were also part of influential groups.
With deliberate instigation by certain individuals, heated arguments broke out in the chat to disrupt the leaderboard contenders.
Other than the Twilight Mercenaries led by Black Shadow—who remained low-key—the other groups had all joined the verbal battlefield.
Of course, none of this had anything to do with Han Xing.
…
As the sun set and a crescent moon climbed into the sky, moonlight bathed the world.
On a suspended platform, a human clad in leather armor and wielding an iron bow was battling a Gray Rock Giant Wolf.
His nimble movements allowed him to leap back and forth across the platform, dodging the wolf’s lunges. In those brief moments of distance, he drew his bow and fired.
That human was none other than Han Xing.
“Wolfie, faster, come on! Can’t you run any quicker? Did you skip lunch or something? Even my dog runs faster than you!”
“Are you really a wolf? Or just a little mutt wearing wolf skin?”
While grappling with the giant wolf, Han Xing relentlessly taunted it with trash talk.
Although he didn’t know whether the wolf understood him or not, his interference tactics were undeniably effective.
The giant wolf’s eyes grew redder, veins spreading like cracks of bl00d across them.
Enraged, it let out a thunderous roar and lunged at Han Xing.
At that moment, Han Xing’s expression turned sharp. A green-tinged arrow, traveling at a terrifying speed, sliced through the air and struck the Gray Rock Giant Wolf square in the abdomen.
“Got it!” Han Xing exclaimed in excitement.
Watching the wolf’s increasingly sluggish movements, he knew the Neurotoxin smeared on the arrowhead had finally taken effect.
Han Xing let out a breath of relief, thinking, “This elite monster is really tough. I’ve shot so many arrows at it, and it’s still up and moving.”
Indeed, this Gray Rock Giant Wolf was an elite monster.
Han Xing had encountered it while clearing the final cloud in the surrounding area, which had triggered the battle.
The monster’s stats appeared before him:
[Gray Rock Giant Wolf (1-Star Elite Creature)]
[Level: LV3]
[Strength: 15, Dexterity: 20, Wisdom: 11, Constitution: 18]
[Skills: Swift Pounce, Bite, Bloodthirst]
An elite creature boasting three skills and powerful attributes—at this stage, any human survivor would be as good as dead upon encountering it.
Han Xing knew this was likely because of his rapid exploration speed.
He had already conquered most of the clouds in this region, and the giant wolf was likely the strongest monster here, aside from the Dark Elf Squad. It was practically a mini-boss for this area.
Now, with seven or eight iron arrows lodged in its body—though none struck its vitals—the continuous effect of the Neurotoxin was visibly weakening it.
The Gray Rock Giant Wolf moved more sluggishly by the second. At this moment, it seemed to realize its fate was sealed.
Its feral gaze regained a glimmer of clarity as it glanced at Han Xing, then looked around its surroundings.
The wolf appeared to make a decision. With a long, mournful howl, it suddenly leapt into Han Xing’s territory.
Han Xing squinted, staying on guard and preparing for the wolf’s final lunge.
However, the Gray Rock Giant Wolf wasn’t charging at him. Instead, it bolted toward the five Storage Boxes at the edge of his territory.
“You sly beast! Trying to destroy my territory before you die?” Han Xing muttered, unfazed.
He calmly raised his bow.
In the next instant, the Multi-Rapid Shots skill activated.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Five consecutive arrows tore through the air with terrifying speed, heading straight for the wolf’s massive body.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Four out of five arrows hit their mark.
Already disoriented and critically injured, the Gray Rock Giant Wolf staggered under the barrage of arrows before finally collapsing.
[Successfully Killed Gray Rock Giant Wolf (Elite) LV3. Gained +150 XP.]
[Your Level Has Increased.]
“Level up!” Han Xing grinned.
After leveling up to Level 3, he glanced at his stats and nodded. “Not bad. Dexterity increased by 3, and Strength, Wisdom, and Constitution each increased by 1.”
Over the past two days, Han Xing had more or less figured out the survivors’ leveling mechanics.
From Levels 1 to 10—before advancing to an advanced-class adventurer—each level-up granted about 4 to 6 attribute points.
The distribution varied depending on one’s class specialty: Hunters gained more Dexterity, Warriors received higher Strength, Mages boosted Wisdom, and Clerics benefited from both Wisdom and Constitution.
Just then, a notification unlike the previous ones appeared:
[You have killed this area’s elite monster. You can now explore the advanced area.]
[Please Note: Monsters in the advanced area will be more powerful. Survivors must exercise caution while exploring.]
