- Chapter 57 - Triggering the Hidden Quest!
After reviewing Coal’s new skills, Han Xing began to look at the other rewards just tallied by the system.
The first of these was the ‘Champion Fragment’.
[Champion Fragment]: Gather 100 fragments to forge a Champion Seal. The Champion Seal can be used for the ‘Abyssal Rift’ challenge.
In the item description, Han Xing noticed a new map name.
“Abyssal Rift? Could it be related to the Abyssal Realm?”
He keenly noted the word “Abyss”.
This was because, when he encountered that terrifying demon, he learned from its mouth that it originated from the Abyssal Realm.
That place seemed to be the stronghold of the demons, filled with countless terrifying beings.
“Could it be that the system intends for us to go there to fight them?” Han Xing shuddered at the thought.
With his current attributes, he estimated that if he went to the Abyssal Realm, he would be obliterated without a trace.
Or rather, even if all the survivors of Blue Star were thrown into the Abyssal Realm, they wouldn’t cause the slightest ripple.
But after thinking it over, Han Xing figured the system wouldn’t send them to such a high-level area at this stage, as that would be sheer suicide.
So, Han Xing tapped on the ‘Abyssal Rift’ introduction following the Champion Fragment.
[Abyssal Rift (Special Space)]
[Tens of thousands of years ago, the Demon Emperor sacrificed all his strength to unleash a formidable sword strike, creating a path from the Abyssal Realm to the Holy Spirit Realm. Through this passage, a massive demon army invaded the Holy Spirit Realm with impunity, sparking a prolonged war against the demons.]
[During this war, nations fell, and life suffered greatly until the strongest four beings of the Holy Spirit Realm united and, at the cost of their own lives, severely injured the Demon Emperor.]
[For several centuries afterward, the battlefield between the Holy Spirit Realm and the Abyssal Realm shifted to this pathway.]
[Countless demons and Holy Spirit Realm’s warriors perished here, and innumerable treasures were lost. Hundreds of years later, the demon race was defeated, and the entrance to the Abyssal Rift was sealed. These countless treasures were left behind in the Abyssal Rift.]
[Only those who possess a Champion Seal can enter the Abyssal Rift.]
[Note: Abyssal Rift is a special space consisting of 1-100 floors. Survivors must start the challenge from the first floor and gradually delve deeper into the rift.]
[Entry Requirement Level: LV10.]
……
After reading through this long introduction, Han Xing finally understood.
It turns out that the so-called Abyssal Rift is a special space that long ago served as the main battlefield and passage between two worlds.
There may be powerful monsters inside, as well as countless treasures.
Once you collect 100 Champion Fragments, you can forge a Champion Seal and enter the Abyssal Rift challenge.
You must also start the challenge from the 1st floor, similar to a tower-climbing mechanism.
“It sounds quite interesting, though this map’s difficulty likely won’t be low, requiring at least level 10 to enter.”
“Moreover, gathering 100 fragments is also quite challenging.”
After all, when Han Xing challenged a 1-Star Secret Realm, he only received 3 fragments. At this rate, he would need to challenge more than 30 1-Star Secret Realms just to gather enough for 1 Champion Seal.
This indicates that Champion Fragments are quite precious items.
With this in mind, Han Xing suddenly had an idea.
Gathering 100 fragments himself would be quite difficult and would require a lot of time.
But if he relied on the nearly 10,000 survivors in Area 107, it would become much simpler.
As long as he used what he had to reap-i mean, exchange for a large number of Champion Fragments from the other survivors, he could quickly synthesize many Champion Seals and continuously enter the Abyssal Rift.
This idea was pending execution, but Han Xing believed its feasibility was high.
At this current stage, he didn’t believe any survivor could resist the lure of the Space Bag.
Han Xing immediately decided that once he left, he would start mass-producing Space Bags and wait for the right moment to put them on the Trading Channel.
After looking through the introduction of the Champion Fragments, Han Xing then glanced at another material in the bag.
[Rune Crystal]: One of the main materials for crafting equipment runes requires the corresponding Rune Blueprint to be made.
The introduction was simple and clear.
Han Xing cast a brief glance and then shifted his focus forward.
He hadn’t forgotten that among the secret realm’s settlement rewards, there was a Silver Treasure Chest.
The system indicated that this treasure chest had to be found within the secret realm map on his own.
Han Xing searched through the ruins and discovered a hint of silver white by a fallen stone pillar.
His eyes lit up, “There it is!”
Beneath the rubble, a completely silver-white treasure chest was trapped under a rock.
Han Xing hurriedly approached and directly opened the Silver Treasure Chest. Suddenly, a dazzling array of materials appeared before him.
[Successfully Opened the Silver Treasure Chest: Obtained Spirit Core x124, Mithril x17, Rare Earth x243, Ether x147……]
[Obtained Chaos Rune Blueprint (Weak) x1, Obtained Barbarian Bracers (Blue) x1]
“A Rune Blueprint?”
Han Xing picked up the blue blueprint from the chest, “Already got one? lucky!”
He immediately clicked to learn it.
In the crafting interface, a new Rune Blueprint section appeared, with currently only this Chaos Rune Blueprint inside.
Han Xing checked the blueprint attributes.
[Chaos Rune (Weak)]: Adds a rune effect to an equipment, slightly increasing a random attribute.
[Crafting Materials Required: Rune Crystal x100, Spirit Core x10, Ether x200.]
“Not bad, the materials needed aren’t complicated. I can start mass production once I get out.”
Now, there was still a piece of blue equipment left in the chest, the Barbarian Bracers, which he hadn’t picked up yet.
The luck with this chest wasn’t too bad.
So far, Han Xing’s current challenge in the secret realm has been quite rewarding.
The last piece of equipment he picked up was a pair of bracers he hadn’t encountered before.
Han Xing, a bit excited, examined its attributes.
[Barbarian Bracers (Blue) LV6, Quality – Excellent, Defense 4~5, Strength +10, Dexterity +5, Attached Special Effect – Strength of the Barbarian (50% chance to increase Strength by 20 when attacking)]
“Another piece that boosts strength. At this rate, my strength attribute might soon surpass my dexterity!”
While pleased, Han Xing couldn’t help but feel a bit amused, as he wasn’t aiming to become a muscle-bound hunter.
Nonetheless, he equipped it right away. After all, it’s a blue item, and the stat boosts are quite impressive.
With this, most of the rewards from the secret realm had been collected. Han Xing planned to dismantle the remains of the Energy Golems on the ground before leaving.
Just then, a different notification appeared.
[Survivor, please note: As you have cleared the secret realm solo, your strength has been recognized by the will of the Lost Palace’s master, Kalon. You have triggered the Lost Palace hidden quest, Kalon’s Experiment Report.]
[Upon accepting this quest, the Tier 3 challenge of the Lost Palace will automatically commence. Please make your choice as soon as possible.]
“Hm? A hidden quest?”
Han Xing was instantly alert.
In Sky Island Paradise, hidden quests are rare opportunities that often come with significant rewards.
For example, the Archdemon’s request he encountered at the Dark Elves Camp led him to obtain a powerful pet named ‘Coal.’
Although he was forced to accept it at that time, this palace’s hidden quest doesn’t seem as prestigious as the Archdemon’s quest.
But every hidden quest typically offers unique rewards.
Han Xing felt a surge of hesitation in his heart. He really wanted to accept it.
But remembering how he had been chased so desperately by six Energy Golems earlier made him a bit apprehensive.
The Tier 2 challenge had been so difficult, and Tier 3 was definitely going to be even more intense.
As he wavered, another system notification popped up.
[Survivor, please make your choice quickly: Accept or Decline.]
[If you do not respond within 60 seconds, it will be considered an automatic decline…]
Han Xing was about to give up when at that moment, Coal seemed to have noticed something and instantly dashed to a corner dozens of meters away.
Seeing Coal’s speed, Han Xing’s eyes suddenly lit up.
“Coal has undergone a significant transformation after reaching Level 6, and I’ve just acquired a piece of blue equipment, boosting my damage even more…”
“Our combined strength has considerably increased compared when facing Tier 2 challenge…”
After a moment of deliberation, Han Xing gritted his teeth and said: “F*ck it!”
He decided to accept the hidden quest.
[You have accepted the Lost Palace hidden quest, ‘Kalon’s Experiment Report’. The Tier 3 challenge will commence in 10 minutes. Please prepare quickly, Survivor.]
“A 10-minute preparation period? That’s nice.”
At this moment, Coal was standing on a collapsed stone pillar, and its head lowered as it occasionally sniffed the air as if searching for something.
Han Xing walked over and asked: “What’s up, did you find a treasure?”
With its little wolf paws, Coal was busy digging through the rubble. When it saw Han Xing approaching, it excitedly jumped up and down.
With clear eyes, Coal alternated its gaze between Han Xing and the ruins as if trying to convey a message.
“Hm? Is there really treasure underneath?” Han Xing asked uncertainly.
Coal panted excitedly, then buried its head back into digging, gesturing for Han Xing to join in.
Seeing this, Han Xing also began to clear the debris around the site with Coal.
In less than 2 minutes, the area was cleared of rubble.
On the ground, a wooden door was revealed, appearing to be the entrance to some basement.
At the sight of this wooden door, Han Xing looked at Coal in surprise. He hadn’t expected that there was actually something hidden there.
Han Xing crouched down in front of the wooden door, and even before he opened it, he caught a whiff of a mixed herbal and fermented scent.
“Wow… Smells amazing!”
“Could it be that underneath here is…” Han Xing eagerly opened the wooden door.
Sure enough, as soon as he opened it, a wave of a long-sealed, aged wine aroma washed over him.
A system notification appeared.
[You Have Discovered the Dwarven Wine Cellar.]
Inside was a cramped space, which appeared to have once been used as a wine cellar.
Han Xing immediately noticed several large wine jars, akin to water jugs, stored in the cellar below. These had been aged for an unknown number of years.
Unfortunately, due to the palace collapse, most of these wine jars had been shattered.
The original liquid on the ground had long since dried up.
However, there was still one wine jar that remained intact!
Han Xing’s eyes lit up!
