Goddess, Are You Blind? (GL) - Chapter 19
After Xue Funian and Ji Yun signed the contract, Zhang Shuai took it to the company and handed it to Qi Rui.
That old man was so furious his beard almost went crooked.
—Or so Zhang Shuai said.
Ji Yun just gave him a sideways glance, then handed Xue Funian a glass of honey water and Zhang Shuai a glass of plain water.
“Old Qi may be old, but since when does he have a beard?”
Zhang Shuai ignored that remark, only staring at the plain boiled water in his hand and then at the honey water Xue Funian was holding. He felt utterly resentful inside—why was the gap between people so big?
“But still, Sister, you’re amazing. You even managed to get Cheng Jirui’s contract signed.”
Ji Yun shot him a glare, then sat down next to Xue Funian.
“Wasn’t it all thanks to A-Nian handling it?”
Zhang Shuai finally looked over at Xue Funian again.
In his eyes, Xue Funian was a cold and aloof goddess who rarely spoke.
Every time his gaze landed on her, even though he knew she couldn’t see, he always felt that she could see more clearly and thoroughly than anyone with sight.
When Xue Funian heard Ji Yun’s words, she tilted her head slightly toward them and gave a faint nod. Ji Yun then sat right up against her, leaning in, and looked over at Zhang Shuai.
“What is Qi Rui planning to do?”
Seeing Ji Yun bring up business, Zhang Shuai sat straighter too. He took a sip of water before answering:
“Qi Rui had a fight with Yue Feng.”
“Oh? About what?”
“Qi Rui said the project has no prospects and that Sister you’re wasting funds, dragging the company down a dead end. Only Yue Feng objected. After a few rounds of arguing, some other board members started thinking his words made sense.”
“Who’s Yue Feng?” Xue Funian had been listening carefully. Only after Zhang Shuai finished did she turn to Ji Yun and ask her doubt.
Ji Yun looked back at her.
“Yue Feng is Yue Renyi’s son. The Yue family holds the second-largest stake in the company. Still far below you, of course, but their opinions do carry weight.”
Zhang Shuai added, carefully explaining to Xue Funian:
“Yue Renyi was once a pillar of the company, same as your father. Later, due to health issues, he retired early and passed his position to his son. Not long after, his son was sitting in his old seat. So now, what he says carries influence in the company.”
“He didn’t oppose Sister’s proposal, so… does that mean he’s on our side?”
As soon as Xue Funian finished asking, Ji Yun stared at her blankly before giving a helpless smile.
“A-Nian, how could the world be filled with people willing to stand by our side? Outside of mutual interest, no one would tie their life to yours with the same string.”
As she spoke, Ji Yun lowered her head. Zhang Shuai saw this and felt the mood shift oddly heavy. His hand holding the cup grew awkward again. Maybe next time, he thought, he shouldn’t come directly to Ji Yun’s home—or only when Xue Funian wasn’t around. Otherwise, he always ended up feeling like the extra wheel. It was terrifying.
Hearing Ji Yun’s words, Xue Funian lowered her head too, lost in thought. Then, at last, she curved her lips into a faint smile. Zhang Shuai was dumbfounded.
“So, Sister, what’s your next step?”
Ji Yun raised her brows and looked at him.
“You should go back for today. In a few days, A-Nian and I will head to the company together. As for that old fox Qi Rui and the little fox Yue Feng—you don’t need to worry. Just review the contract A-Nian signed, sort the data properly, and send it to me. Leave the rest to me.”
Zhang Shuai nodded. He was about to leave when he suddenly paused, turned back, and looked at Ji Yun.
“Sister, Yue Feng told me something else. Should I tell you?”
Ji Yun froze, her hand midair as she was about to take the cup from Xue Funian. She looked at him.
“Mm? What is it?”
“He said he hasn’t seen you in a long time, and uh… he kind of misses you.”
Ji Yun had just brought the cup to her lips. At those words, she immediately spat out the water, leaving Zhang Shuai gaping and Xue Funian utterly confused.
“What? That little fox cub said what?”
“He said he misses you.”
Hearing confirmation, Ji Yun choked even harder, coughing violently beside Xue Funian. Although she didn’t know what was happening, Xue Funian instinctively reached out and gently patted her back.
“Sister, slow down.”
Ji Yun raised her head and glared at Zhang Shuai furiously.
“You brat, you can leave now. What, watching other people show off their love makes you that happy?”
Zhang Shuai wanted to die. He nodded frantically, then walked to the door, barked twice like a dog, and quickly shut it behind him.
After he left, Ji Yun collapsed onto the sofa, sprawled out, staring blankly at the ceiling.
“Is Yue Feng your boyfriend, Sister?”
Ji Yun had been staring at the ceiling in a daze when suddenly a beautiful face appeared in front of her. Without thinking, she leaned forward and stole a kiss.
With beauty right in front of you, how could anyone resist a taste?
Xue Funian froze once again.
As the two spent more and more time together, Ji Yun occasionally showed small gestures of intimacy. At first, Xue Funian was a little resistant—though “resistant” wasn’t exactly the right word. More like… unaccustomed. But as time went on, she no longer pushed her away.
Still—she was stunned every time.
“A-Nian, are you getting jealous?” Ji Yun smiled at her, sweeping away the earlier gloom.
Outside, the weather was gloomy, clouds gathering overhead. But Ji Yun’s smile was like sunlight piercing through, bright and genuine.
“Sister, what nonsense are you talking about?” Xue Funian tried to move back, but only then realized Ji Yun’s arm was already around her waist.
Though Xue Funian couldn’t see, their posture was unmistakably intimate—Ji Yun half-lounging on the sofa, holding her close, her face full of laughter. Both women were stunning, and the sight of them together was breathtaking.
Seeing Xue Funian struggling to retreat, Ji Yun finally let go, helping her ease back carefully.
“Yue Feng’s feelings aren’t actually for me. He was just hinting at something. What he really wants… is you.”
Xue Funian: complete and utter shock.
