Goddess, Are You Blind? (GL) - Chapter 21
Ji Yun felt a bit restless. She couldn’t explain why, but by the time the meeting was coming to an end, she suddenly realized what was bothering her. She had come here because of that little brat Yue Feng, yet since joining the company, she hadn’t even seen a trace of him.
By the latter half of the meeting, she was getting fidgety. Her mind felt like a mess of porridge; even when Qi Rui provoked her, she just listened calmly, not letting a single thought stray toward him, which only frustrated Qi Rui further.
It wasn’t that Ji Yun had no opinion of him—on the contrary, if her mind were focused, she could have easily put Qi Rui in his place. But her heart simply wasn’t here.
As the meeting ended, Ji Yun immediately stood up, grabbed her things, and headed for the exit.
Qi Rui, cunning as he was, couldn’t help feeling impatient. After the entire meeting, Ji Yun hadn’t once looked at him, and of course, that stung.
“Xiao Yun,” Qi Rui called out, stopping her from leaving. Ji Yun furrowed her brows slightly, then forced a smile and turned to him.
“Director Qi, is there something you need?”
Qi Rui squinted at the smile on her face, momentarily speechless, then sneered: “This beach project—didn’t you sign it? Why didn’t you present your plan in the meeting?”
Ji Yun was already irritated. Seeing Qi Rui forcing a fake smile just made her feel even worse, and she wanted to turn and leave. When she felt someone tugging at her sleeve, she glanced sideways to see Zhang Shuai shaking his head at her. She took a deep breath and smiled.
“This contract was signed by Chairman Xue and General Manager Tong, so as for the plan, we can discuss it when Chairman Xue comes next week.” She nodded politely at Qi Rui, then strode out of the company.
Zhang Shuai followed close behind, nearly struggling to keep up with her pace.
“Sis, what’s wrong with you today? You seem distracted, even zoning out during the meeting,” Zhang Shuai asked. Ji Yun, still frowning, stared at the elevator numbers, furious, wishing she could sprout wings and fly.
Seeing no answer, Zhang Shuai didn’t push further, but watching her furrowed brow made him uneasy. Ever since he started interning at this company, he had rarely seen Ji Yun so quiet, and it made his heart tighten.
When they reached the café, Ji Yun finally paused. Following her gaze inside, they saw Xue Fuyan smiling slightly, speaking with someone.
Looking more closely, the man across from him was none other than Yue Feng—the sly brat Ji Yun had been cursing not long ago.
Zhang Shuai thought Ji Yun was doomed. After following her for two years, he had never seen her so focused on anyone. He was puzzled—was Ji Yun interested in Xue Fuyan, or did Yue Feng hold some special place in her heart?
Seeing Ji Yun remain still, Zhang Shuai didn’t dare step forward, standing silently outside with her.
The sunlight hit them just right; both were attractive, and the light on their faces wasn’t jarring.
It was unclear what they were discussing, but Xue Fuyan’s expression remained calm and faintly pleasant. Yue Feng, on the other hand, frowned unexpectedly.
Ji Yun stepped forward into the café, Zhang Shuai following quickly.
Ji Yun sat directly on the long sofa beside Xue Fuyan.
The moment she sat, she tilted her chin, glancing provocatively at Yue Feng—an expression that practically dared someone to hit her.
“Manager Yue, not at a meeting today, what are you doing here?”
Feeling the sofa sink slightly beside him, Xue Fuyan wanted to ask who had arrived, but seeing Ji Yun’s sharp tone reassured him.
“The meeting today was to discuss the contract Chairman Xue just signed. I happened to run into Chairman Xue downstairs and thought we could discuss it first.”
Yue Feng smiled and answered seriously. Whether intentional or not, he looked up and smiled at Ji Yun after speaking. Normally, Zhang Shuai never saw Yue Feng smile like this at others—usually just polite, faint smiles.
If Yue Feng was trying to impress Xue Fuyan, Zhang Shuai didn’t believe it. Xue Fuyan wasn’t even paying attention.
Ji Yun pretended not to notice and even shot Yue Feng an eye-roll, then glanced at Xue Fuyan. “Are you okay, Ah Nian?”
“I…”
“Ah Yun, that’s a weird question. Do you think I could have hit or scolded Chairman Xue?” Before Xue Fuyan could answer, Yue Feng cut in, smiling: “Yes, just discussed the contract a bit with Manager Yue.”
Ji Yun looked at Yue Feng with disbelief, his eyes still smiling, giving her goosebumps.
“Ah Nian, can you go back with Zhang Shuai first? I need to talk to Manager Yue.” She gave Zhang Shuai a glance; he understood and stepped forward to help Xue Fuyan.
Ji Yun paused, held Xue Fuyan, shook off Zhang Shuai’s hand, and said to Yue Feng: “Wait here. I’ll bring Ah Nian back first.”
“Mm, I’ll wait,” Yue Feng said calmly, unbothered by her cold tone, just smiled and lowered his head to sip coffee.
Ji Yun carefully escorted Xue Fuyan out, handed him to Zhang Shuai, and walked off without looking back.
“Did that little fox say anything nonsense to you?” Ji Yun asked Xue Fuyan, still uneasy.
Xue Fuyan smiled and shook his head: “No, he only talked about the contract. I didn’t know much anyway, so he was probably just rambling.”
Even Zhang Shuai brightened at Xue Fuyan’s words, but Ji Yun remained serious.
“Not happy, sis?” Xue Fuyan asked. He could feel the tension radiating from Ji Yun since arriving; her words and actions were prickly.
“Seeing you laugh with him, of course I’m not happy,” Ji Yun said as she helped Xue Fuyan into the car. “Here are the keys, take care bringing Ah Nian home. I’ll have Aunt Qing check in.”
“Sis, Aunt Qing’s son is about to take the college entrance exam. Don’t trouble her. I’ll wait at home,” Xue Fuyan interrupted, smiling.
Ji Yun glanced at him and finally smiled: “Okay, be careful and wait for me at home.” She gave Zhang Shuai a few instructions and walked back.
Sitting across from Yue Feng again, Ji Yun’s gentle smile toward Xue Fuyan vanished, replaced with the coldness of a sworn enemy.
“Have we become enemies, Ah Yun?” Yue Feng noticed her change in attitude, raised his brow, and leaned back lazily. “Why must you glare at me like that?”
“I’ll tell you, Yue Feng. Don’t get near me. If you plan to do anything to Xue Fuyan, consider the consequences.” Ji Yun was serious, ignoring Yue Feng’s casual demeanor.
Yue Feng, looking at her, felt like he’d never really seen through her before: “Ah Yun, aren’t you interested in what Xue Fuyan has?”
“Do you really think I’m as dirty as you?” Ji Yun raised her head, smiling, sweeping away any lingering disgust she had felt.
Yue Feng noticed the difference in her smile, leaned back, and laughed: “Fine. Do as you wish, it’s up to you.”
“Don’t act like we’re so familiar. No one’s familiar with you.”
“We’ve known each other for ten years, aren’t we?” Yue Feng smiled, eyebrows raised—quite handsome.
Ji Yun felt helpless. Her biggest fear was Yue Feng like this—he seemed unchanged after all these years, carefree, playful, yet somehow always at her side.
“Ten years, yes. But I made my feelings clear years ago. It’s impossible—before, now, and in the future.”
Yue Feng quieted, staring at Ji Yun. For the first time, he saw despair in her eyes. Previously, she would always tell him everything in moments like this. He didn’t know how many times he had tried and failed. But this time, he truly saw no chance.
“Why? I’ve never seen you date anyone, never had a man by your side. Why can’t you accept me?”
Ji Yun’s smile vanished instantly. She looked at Yue Feng, unflinching, just like before, which left him suddenly unsteady.
In the past, he could face her like this. But now, he realized he shouldn’t have asked—perhaps it was better to stay like this, quietly by her side. Eventually, maybe they’d be together.
Ji Yun stood and pointed at the café: “You pay.”
“Mm.”
“I’ll tell you, I like women. Do you believe me?”
