Goddess Strategy GL - Chapter 21
Ren Xi was startled, only to see a person rush out from the bushes on the side, asking: “Where did it hit him?”
The person who came was none other than Ye Ruoqing, who had just used the artsy man’s card to swipe her way in.
Ren Xi reached out to check the man’s breathing, and said: “It hit his head, he’s fine, just knocked out, no need to worry.” As she spoke, she took out her phone, preparing to dial 120 (emergency services). Unexpectedly, Ye Ruoqing sighed, “My hand is still rusty after all,” picked up the brick-like book, walked right above the man, released her hand, and performed a free-fall motion.
“My hand was crooked just now, didn’t hit accurately. This time should be OK.”
Accompanied by the man’s cry of pain, Ren Xi was dumbfounded, watching Ye Ruoqing chop with a hand-knife, knocking the man out again.
“You…” Ye Ruoqing clapped her hands and stood up: “Using aphrodisiacs, hitting women, this kind of scum should be castrated early so as not to harm society. Ren Xi, you can call 120 now. Huh, why aren’t you moving? Don’t open your mouth so wide. I know what I’m doing. I’m best at beating up scumbags.”
Ren Xi was sobered up by Ye Ruoqing’s series of astonishing acts. Seeing her immobile, Ye Ruoqing took the phone from her hand and dialed 120.
“Oh God… it’s just the two of us here, what should we do…” Ye Ruoqing patted her shoulder to comfort her while calling 120: “Mhm… reporting an incident… yes, someone unknown threw a book… and hit someone… It’s outside the city, and the person has already been sent to the infirmary here… Mhm, no problem, okay.”
She calmly finished the call. At this point, the security guards were alerted. Seeing that Ye Ruoqing was unfamiliar, they quickly led her aside to inquire about her identity.
“Zhou Qi introduced me. Miss Ren also knows me, you can ask her.” The security guard asked Ren Xi. Ren Xi, with a complicated expression, nodded: “That’s right, Miss Ye and I are old acquaintances.”
“Then Miss Ye, what are you doing here?”
“I’m here to find my… find my…” She looked around, saw a group of people just getting off the elevator, and rushed over ecstatically, pushing through the crowd and pulling Zhao Xin into her arms.
“To collect a debt!”
“…” Zhao Xin gave her a helpless look. Ye Ruoqing, afraid she would expose her, quickly said: “The car fare was over a hundred (yuan)…”
“What exactly happened?” “Come over here, I’ll tell you.”
Ye Ruoqing put her arm around Zhao Xin and walked aside to whisper. Zhao Xin was gently and obediently held in her embrace, which made a group of people drop their jaws in shock.
The artsy man was right. Here, one must show off: show off in a down-to-earth way, show off 360 degrees without blind spots. In the eyes of the crowd, Miss Ye was showing off her status as a creditor, showing off the national goddess held in her arms, and showing off her wild, cool, and domineering aura in the face of a sudden incident.
Tycoon! Second-generation! Aristocrat! Before Ren Xi and Zhao Xin could even react, Ye Ruoqing was already surrounded by the men and women who had long been annoyed by the man named Wu, and they embraced her, taking her to the rooftop for drinks.
Before getting on the elevator, Ren Xi held her forehead and asked Ye Ruoqing: “When that guy named Wu wakes up tomorrow, will there really be no problem?” Ye Ruoqing looked back and smiled: “How dare he challenge me.”
The domineering Miss Ye actually didn’t tell Ren Xi that the confidence she had in the man named Wu not daring to challenge her came from her Sony flip phone, which couldn’t be sold for thirty yuan in the second-hand market. And the small pills she had just fished out of the man’s pocket.
Ren Xi returned to her room to rest. Zhao Xin was worried about Ye Ruoqing and couldn’t possibly leave her alone and go back by herself. The games on the rooftop started again, only this time it was changed to ‘Fight the Landlord’ (a card game) which Ye Ruoqing was good at.
Ye Ruoqing hugged Zhao Xin, completely in the manner of a romantic gentleman embracing a beauty for fun, totally at ease and enjoying herself.
“Zhao Xin, I want to eat grapes.” Zhao Xin took the fruit platter and peeled grapes for her.
“Feed me, I’m looking at my cards.” Zhao Xin fed her the grape and then took the trash box for her to spit out the seeds.
“Zhao Xin, I’m a bit hot…” Zhao Xin called a waiter and asked if there was a fan. The waiter said that this was the viewing deck, and the temperature and humidity had been considered during construction, so the temperature would definitely not exceed 26 degrees Celsius. If she was hot, she could consider moving indoors.
“Zhao Xin, I’m really hot.” Ye Ruoqing was in the middle of a heated game and naturally refused to move.
Zhao Xin took a small fan, leaned by her side, and fanned her.
“Zhao Xin, I…” This clingy behavior could be interpreted as the creditor’s coercion, or it could be interpreted as a public display of affection. Young Master Chen squatted on the side, so bitter that he crushed countless plates.
They played cards until past three o’clock. Zhao Xin, like a little wife, asked Ye Ruoqing: “Are you done playing? If you’re done, we need to go back.”
Ye Ruoqing put her arms around the shoulders of those people, laughing: “My buddies are calling me to go eat a late-night snack.” So they moved locations, and Zhao Xin followed behind Ye Ruoqing to eat the late-night snack.
Beer wasn’t enough, so they moved onto Baijiu (Chinese liquor). It was rare for those people to meet such a generous and spirited girl, so they got high and didn’t settle down until almost dawn.
Zhao Xin helped the drunken Ye Ruoqing, rented a room here, and planned to wait until Ye Ruoqing sobered up before leaving. She wasn’t unable to remind Ye Ruoqing to leave just now, but after knowing that Ye Ruoqing had gone out of her way to come and care for her, she couldn’t bear to disturb her small bit of happiness.
Ye Ruoqing fell onto the bed and immediately slept. Zhao Xin went to the bathroom to get water, preparing to wipe her body for her. Beyond the curtain, the morning light had appeared. This was a good place to watch the sunrise, but the thick curtains blocked the morning sunlight. In the dreams of the people in the room, the sun had not yet risen.
She dreamed of Zeng Jie.
In high school, Ye Ruoqing already had a good brain. While other students battled through nights of five years of college entrance exams and three years of mock tests, she could easily play for a whole evening and then score high on the mock exam the next morning. She inherited her parents’ excellent genes; her scholarly family used knowledge to build their wealth, and their children never acquired the bad habits of typical nouveau riche offspring.
She wore the same school uniform as her classmates, cycled to and from school, and didn’t have much pocket money, but enough for a skewer barbecue dinner every night. For a long time, Zeng Jie didn’t believe she was a well-off second-generation rich kid.
It didn’t matter if she didn’t believe it. Ye Ruoqing’s yearly New Year’s money was enough for her to buy Zeng Jie all sorts of clothes and jewelry. Later, because too many people inside and outside the school were pestering Zeng Jie, Ye Ruoqing rented an apartment for her in a high-end complex off-campus. After Ye Ruoqing went to college, she often came over to stay, and that place gave her the feeling of home.
Sometimes she was playful and would go night swimming and eat skewers with people in the evening. When she came back, Zeng Jie would get angry, saying she smelled of oily smoke. Ye Ruoqing would outwardly hug her and act spoiled, but secretly she noticed Zeng Jie’s unhappy reactions and would make sure to get rid of the barbecue smell on her body and in her mouth before returning home the next time she secretly ate skewers outside.
Her love for Ren Xi was like chewing Stride gum—it simply couldn’t stop.
Smelling the alcohol all over her, Ye Ruoqing vaguely opened her eyes and fumbled for her jacket.
“Chewing gum… must find it… can’t have any smell…”
Ye Ruoqing turned her clothes inside out searching everywhere, and finally felt a small box.
“Chew a piece of gum… so you can scold me later, hehe…” Ye Ruoqing lay on the bed with her eyes half-closed, opened the small box, poured a few small pills into her mouth, and started crunching.
“It’s not gum?”
Ye Ruoqing chewed, feeling that the taste was wrong. She then thought she might have bought candy and worried that the odor-removing effect wouldn’t be effective enough, so she simply poured all the pills from the box into her mouth.
“The manufacturer… is a bit of a… scammer… why… is there no… mint flavor… where’s the mint flavor…”
As she chewed and chewed, Ye Ruoqing’s eyes opened and closed, and she fell asleep again.
Zhao Xin drew water to wipe Ye Ruoqing’s face. Seeing that she was sleeping uncomfortably, and worried that she might be ill from drinking too much, she called for private butler service and asked the butler to bring up a bowl of hangover tea.
When she returned to the room, she saw Ye Ruoqing tossing and turning, knowing she felt feverish inside, and quickly brought the hangover tea over.
“Are you uncomfortable?” Zhao Xin lifted a corner of the quilt and helped Ye Ruoqing up. Ye Ruoqing twisted and squirmed on the bed, refusing to get up.
“So hot…” “I’ll turn the air conditioning down a bit. This is hangover tea, drink it before you sleep.”
Zhao Xin went to lower the air conditioning. When she looked back, Ye Ruoqing was already sitting up wrapped in the quilt, a pair of eyes looking at her brightly.
“Ye Ruoqing?” “Mhm.” “Drink the hangover tea.” “Oh…”
“What’s wrong?” Ye Ruoqing’s eyelids drooped again: “Uncomfortable… so hot…”
Zhao Xin sighed and said: “I’ll feed you.”
She walked over and held up the hangover tea. Ye Ruoqing drank two sips with her eyes closed. Zhao Xin saw that her forehead was covered in sweat and only then realized something was wrong.
“What’s wrong with you?”
Before Zhao Xin could call a doctor, everything turned upside down, and she was heavily pressed down onto the bed.
“Zeng Jie…” Ye Ruoqing mumbled a name and buried her head in Zhao Xin’s neck.
