Golden Temptation – A Yuri Story - Chapter 26
Ren’ai Hospital.
Liu Xingyu and Qiao Fei hurried down the long hospital corridor, their footsteps echoing with urgency as they searched for Gao Zhe’s room.
“That damned scoundrel! How could she get into a car accident?! Damn it! Why am I so worried about her? I’m really that worried! Ugh! Forget it—scoundrel, you better not be in any real trouble!”
Liu Xingyu was seething, her frustration mounting with every step. The more she thought about it, the more anxious she became, until tears began to stream down her cheeks. Qiao Fei, walking beside her, felt a pang of sympathy.
“Xingyu, don’t panic. We still don’t know what actually happened. It might just be a minor injury. Maybe… maybe nothing serious at all?”
“Or maybe she’s already dead! I’ve called her a damned scoundrel every day—what if now she’s really gone?!”
“Don’t say that! Don’t jump to conclusions. They said she just hit her head, right? She’s probably going to be fine. Xingyu, pull yourself together!”
But Liu Xingyu was already too far gone in grief to listen. Her mind was filled with horrifying images of the crash. She couldn’t bring herself to open her eyes. Something deep inside her was starting to shift.

Room 5509.
Jing Xuan paced restlessly beside Gao Zhe’s hospital bed, occasionally glancing toward the door. Gao Zhe watched her, visibly annoyed.
“Hey, Ajing, can you stop pacing like that? You’re making me dizzy. I just came back from the brink of death, you know. Can’t you have a little sympathy for this poor soul and sit down for a bit?”
“Shut up. If Liu Xingyu sees you this energetic, you’re doomed. If you want your perfect love story to work out, then listen to me and play dead properly.”
“Ajing, this is your fault. If this romance crashes and burns, it’s on you. You’ll have to take responsibility for me—for life.”
“You must have hit your head harder than we thought. Cut the crap. Who’s going to take responsibility for me, huh?”
“Isn’t that what Lan Qing is for? Why are you talking like this?”
That one sentence dimmed Jing Xuan’s expression.
“Qing’er… I let her down.”
“What do you mean?”
“Shh!”
A rush of footsteps interrupted their conversation. Jing Xuan stepped toward the door just as Liu Xingyu burst in, Qiao Fei following close behind.

“Brother Jing Xuan, how’s the scoundrel? Is she going to be okay? Or… is she already… oh God!”
Jing Xuan hadn’t expected to see Qiao Fei here—and certainly not to discover that everyone already knew each other. Qiao Fei also seemed surprised, though she quickly masked it with a calm expression.
“Well… the doctor said she hit her head. She’s still unconscious. If she wakes up within 72 hours, there shouldn’t be any major issues. But if she doesn’t…” Jing Xuan hesitated, looking at Liu Xingyu. “Xingyu? Are you okay?”
“How could this happen? How could she get into a car crash like this?”
“Well… it’s because Shuangji was driving drunk. And the other driver ran a red light and was going the wrong way. Both were at fault, so…”
“She was drunk?! Why did she drink so much?!”
“Shuangji said she fell in love with a girl, but she didn’t have the courage to confess. She was afraid that if she did, the girl would hate her and leave. So, she kept her feelings hidden, suppressing them for so long it was driving her crazy. She turned to alcohol to numb herself—it’s been going on for a while. But this time… something went wrong.”
As Jing Xuan spoke, she carefully watched Liu Xingyu’s reaction.
“She never told me who the girl was. But right before she passed out, the only thing she said was: ‘I need to see Xingyu. I can’t die. I have to see Xingyu.’”
Hearing this, Liu Xingyu’s tears flowed freely. So, her suspicions had been right all along—Gao Zhe really did have feelings for her. But she’s a girl, and I’m a girl too… Why does my heart ache like this? Why do I care so much? Why am I not repulsed by these feelings? And now that I know she likes me… why does that make me feel a strange kind of joy?
Too many “whys” swirled in Liu Xingyu’s heart, but they all led her to one firm conclusion:
Even if it’s not supposed to be possible… Scoundrel, I love you.

Watching the change in Liu Xingyu’s expression—from storm to sunshine—Jing Xuan quietly breathed a sigh of relief. The warmth radiating from her made it clear: Liu Xingyu had also fallen for Gao Zhe, deeply and irrevocably.
Throughout the entire exchange, Qiao Fei said nothing. She stared straight at Jing Xuan, a playful smile tugging at her lips. Watching Jing Xuan coax emotions out of Liu Xingyu with such dramatic flair, Qiao Fei thought:
So this is the person I’ve slowly started to understand… to accept… and maybe even to love.
Was fate playing a cruel trick on her?

Meanwhile, lying on the hospital bed, Gao Zhe was struggling to stay in character.
This Ajing really knows how to spin a tale. I can’t even keep up with her if I don’t play along properly.
But honestly… this is hilarious. I never knew I could be such a smooth talker!
She almost burst out laughing, barely suppressing a smirk beneath her oxygen mask.
“I’ll leave you two to stay with Shuangji for a bit,” Jing Xuan said. “I’ll go ask the doctor about her condition.”
Liu Xingyu nodded gently, signaling she understood. She turned back to Gao Zhe, her gaze soft and tender.
Jing Xuan quietly exited the room, unwilling to disturb such a peaceful and touching scene. But instead of heading to the doctor, she lingered outside the slightly open door… to watch what would unfold next.

Liu Xingyu gently straightened Gao Zhe’s blanket, moving with the care of a devoted wife. Then, she softly took Gao Zhe’s hand—the one still connected to the IV—and rested her head on it.
“Scoundrel… when I found out you were a woman, I was shocked. Shocked that someone so handsome could be a girl. You’re easy on the eyes, I’ll give you that. I always guessed you liked girls, but I never imagined what kind. I used to call you a scoundrel, a pain in the neck—was that enough to scare you off?
Honestly, all that name-calling… it was just me hiding how flustered I really felt. I was scared to face what this meant. Scared of what we’d have to face. But not anymore.
I almost lost you. And that’s when I realized—I can’t control my heart. At some point, without even knowing it, it filled up completely… with you.
So, I don’t want to be that clueless girl waiting for love to come to her. I want to tell you—
Big scoundrel, I like you.”
