Guide Her to Nowhere (NPH) - Chapter 25: Kill
Chapter 25: Kill
Qu Tang went to the Isolation Area for the first time. The Isolation Area was smaller in size than the Safe Area, but the population was not much less. 90% of the people living in the Isolation Area were third-class citizens, and another 9% were first or second-class citizens who had been demoted to third-class or could not afford to live in the Safe Area. The remaining 1% were wild sentinels trying to make a living in the Isolation Area, aside from the security officers.
Guides, who were the protected subjects of all humanity, were prohibited from entering the Isolation Area and the Pollution Area on their own.
The Isolation Area was chaotic because the security officers only cared about one thing – protecting the Dawn Wall. As long as you did not endanger the Dawn Wall or openly defy the security officers, you could do whatever you wanted, but if you crossed the line, you would be presumed guilty and killed without mercy.
There had been a horrific bloodshed incident in the Isolation Area of District 9 before. At that time, a flu outbreak had occurred in the Isolation Area, with a shortage of medicine. Hundreds of people gathered at the inner wall checkpoint, demanding that the Safe Area provide drugs. They were all shot dead.
What was most chilling was that from the time they approached the checkpoint to when they were shot dead, only five minutes had passed. During this period, the security officers had only given one warning from the high wall.
That flu outbreak killed a third of the people in the Isolation Area of District 9.
After that, a rumor spread in the Isolation Area that the people in the Safe Area not only did not care about the lives of the people in the Isolation Area, but also wished that everyone in the Isolation Area would die to save resources.
The conflict between the Isolation Area and the Safe Area gradually intensified, and there were several incidents of Isolation Area residents robbing passing vehicles and trucks, until the Council of Elders and the noble families stepped in to suppress them, barely restoring stability.
Qu Tang didn’t expect that even her first ‘trip’ would encounter a robbery, five or six years later.
At 5 o’clock in the afternoon, on the road section from District 6 to District 7, the bus Qu Tang was riding on was unfortunately blocked by a van.
Four people jumped out of the van, all holding guns. They forced the passengers to get off the bus and onto the back of their van.
It turned out not to be for money, but for people.
Qu Tang’s face turned grim. After staying in a place full of all kinds of people for a long time, she had heard a lot of news, and the disappearance of people was a common occurrence.
No one knew where the missing people went, but there were many rumors, saying that the lucky ones were taken to do free hard labor, and the unlucky ones were taken to be used as mutant food rations.
Qu Tang didn’t want either.
Qu Tang sat in the back row. Before the robbers came over, she quickly took out the bullet necklace her father left her from the box and put it on, then hid it in her clothes.
As soon as she finished, the window next to her was smashed by a gun butt, and shattered glass fell all over her, but fortunately, she was fully covered and was not cut or bleeding.
“Get off the bus!” The people outside thumped loudly on the bus.
Qu Tang hugged her backpack and timidly got off the bus with the other passengers, deliberately lagging behind to observe the situation. But a man kicked her in the leg.
Qu Tang fell to the side, struggling to get up. The man came over, cursing, and was about to kick her again. Qu Tang grabbed the man’s kicking leg, pulled him down with the leverage, and snatched the gun, pressing it against the man’s forehead.
“Don’t shoot, don’t shoot,” the man on his knees begged in terror.
The other three people heard the commotion and surrounded Qu Tang, pointing their guns at her. “Let him go.”
Without hesitation, Qu Tang fired a shot into the man’s arm. “Back off, or I’ll kill him.”
The three were surprised that Qu Tang shot so decisively, before they could even start negotiating. Her action woke the passengers, and they scattered and fled in all directions.
“You’re courting death.”
These people obviously had no camaraderie. Seeing the passengers flee, they started shooting without regard for their hostage. But Qu Tang was faster, firing three shots that put holes in the foreheads of the three. Then she shot the man on his knees in the back of the head.
This was not Qu Tang’s first time killing someone. As a beautiful young woman living alone, she had inevitably been targeted by various people, some of whom were tired of living. She didn’t mind sending these four on their way today.
Qu Tang’s face was pale, beads of sweat on her forehead. Controlling three people’s minds at the same time was a bit taxing.
She stepped back and leaned against the bus. In just a moment, there were sobs and stumbling footsteps around her as the escaped passengers returned.
Qu Tang’s gaze swept past them and saw something moving on the ground. She focused her eyes and saw it was a writhing black snake – a spiritual body.
