Guide Her to Nowhere (NPH) - Chapter 26: Choke Him
Chapter 26: Choke Him
The escaped passengers all came running back, and were surrounded by hundreds of black snakes along with Qu Tang between the bus and the van.
In the distance, a black modified off-road vehicle sped up and stopped outside the encirclement.
Two men in their early twenties, both sentinels, got out of the vehicle.
The man walking in front had very narrow phoenix eyes, with rare green vertical pupils that would naturally draw one’s attention.
The black snakes were his spiritual bodies, as they shared his unusual green eyes.
Shi Xi stopped next to the four warm corpses, clicking his tongue impatiently, and casually scanned the huddled group of twenty-odd passengers.
“Who killed them?”
The dead were seasoned criminals who had been robbing vehicles and kidnapping people for half a year, all armed with guns. Shi Xi naturally assumed this job was done, since the information received indicated the passengers were ordinary people without sentinels. He thought the gunshots were just the criminals firing warning shots, until he encountered the fleeing passengers and realized these fools had bungled the job.
“She, she killed them,” a short man pointed at Qu Tang.
“It has nothing to do with us.”
“Yes, she killed them, it’s not our business!”
More and more passengers pointed accusingly at Qu Tang.
Shi Xi looked at the woman indicated, fully covered in the hot weather, wearing gloves, a hood and a mask, only her dark shiny eyes visible.
“You killed them?”
Qu Tang didn’t speak, tacitly admitting it, since the gun used was still in her hand.
The range of her spiritual projection just now hadn’t detected the nearby car with two sentinels. But even if she expanded it further, the sentinels would have detected her first.
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
“Nice shooting, you’ve got talent,” Shi Xi smiled flirtatiously. “But it’s a pity, we only need mindless drones, not talents.”
Qu Tang pondered his words, relieved that at least she wasn’t being sent to the mutants as food rations.
“If donkeys can do the work, why can’t I?”
Shi Xi found this amusing. “You… ”
“I mean, I want to live.”
“But you killed my four people, how can I maintain my authority by letting you go?” Shi Xi feigned difficulty.
“I believe with your strength, you don’t need to prove anything to others to maintain your authority.”
“Wise.” Shi Xi pointed at Qu Tang, smiling at the silent man beside him. “You see, not only is she wise, but she also knows how to suck up. You’re the complete opposite.”
The man called Shen Qi gave Qu Tang a casual glance, seemingly disinterested. “Let’s go.”
“Hey, wait.” Shi Xi called out as Shen Qi headed towards the off-road vehicle, but the latter ignored him and kept walking.
Feeling bored, Shi Xi turned back to Qu Tang, gesturing for her to get in the van. “You, sit in the passenger seat.”
The passengers had readily sold her out, and he was worried this woman who killed as easily as cutting vegetables might retaliate against his drones.
The passengers were herded into the van’s cargo compartment with the four corpses, while Qu Tang was forced to sit in the passenger seat, with a black hood over her head so she couldn’t see anything.
She huddled as close to the door as possible, trying to distance herself from the sentinel, even though she was fully covered and had sprayed on cheap pungent perfume. She didn’t dare underestimate the sentinel’s sensitivity to the scent of a guide.
Soon, a rustling sound came from the seat back. Qu Tang, unable to see, focused on listening, and then heard the faint hissing of snakes as well as the slight friction of snake tongues licking the black hood.
The sound was very close, almost touching her ear.
Qu Tang shuddered, her body moving faster than her mind as she reached up and grasped the snake’s vital spot.
