Guide Her to Nowhere (NPH) - Chapter 41: Won't Let Go a Second Time
Chapter 41: Won’t Let Go a Second Time
Qu Tang was a guide, a precious resource protected by all of humanity. The White Tower managed guides with extreme strictness; they did not allow guides to wander outside, so unlike sentinels, there were no wild sentinels not directly managed by the White Tower. In other words, Qu Tang might have been the only wild guide in the world.
Even someone as composed as the boss would be shocked.
Le Zhi was somewhat impatient, speeding up the car toward the small building.
A few minutes later, the car came to a steady stop outside the small building’s yard.
“Big brother,” Le Zhi walked ahead, entering the yard first, “you absolutely won’t guess who the deputy asked us to pick up!”
A black Hummer was parked in the yard, its hood open. A tall man was half inside the engine compartment, clanging away. Hearing Le Zhi’s shout, he backed out, set down his wrench, and grabbed a towel hanging nearby to wipe the black oil from his hands.
“Could it be someone from the fields…” The man wiped his hands while moving forward, glancing up. His words halted abruptly upon seeing who had just entered the yard, his body even stiffening for a moment, “Qu Tang?”
How could it be Qu Tang, and how had she… become a guide?
Yi Jin was puzzled, but he soon had a guess. Qu Tang was already a guide when he met her; she had just concealed her identity.
The mysteries he couldn’t solve before suddenly had such a simple answer. He blamed himself for not thinking that a guide might hide their identity and have the ability to do so, even from him.
“Yi Jin?” Qu Tang also froze in place. The buzz-cut sentinel standing by the car was none other than Yi Jin, whom she had met several times in District Four.
It hadn’t been too long since they parted, and Yi Jin looked much the same as before. He was dressed very casually, wearing a tight tank top that showed off his well-defined muscles, and shorts that revealed his long, sturdy legs. Just looking at him, the masculine hormones and sense of power were overwhelming.
“You know each other?” Now it was Le Zhi’s turn to be surprised.
“Hmm, I had asked for Captain Yi’s help before.” Qu Tang marveled at how small the world was. She smiled openly at Yi Jin, “I didn’t expect to meet you here like this.”
“Indeed, quite a coincidence.” Yi Jin felt a ticklish sensation in his heart. He smiled back, his blue eyes looking particularly clear in the sunlight.
Le Zhi was right; he could never have guessed that Shen Qi sent them to pick up Qu Tang.
However, thinking about why they encountered Shen Qi, who was on a mission in the fields, stirred an anger in Yi Jin.
Xie Li deserved to die.
Yi Jin instructed Le Li to take Qu Tang inside to settle her in, leaving Le Zhi to inquire about the situation. Because Shen Qi was cautious, the message sent only asked them to pick someone up without revealing any further details. If he had known it was Qu Tang, he would never have sent just the two Le brothers.
“The deputy said her spiritual force was unstable, and we should help stabilize it, meaning she’ll be staying with us for a while.”
“For a while?”
“Yeah, from what the deputy said, she’ll eventually leave.” Le Zhi leaned closer to Yi Jin, lowering his voice, “Big brother, we definitely have to keep her here.”
Yi Jin thought to himself, do you need to remind me? He had let go once at the Dawn Wall; he would never let go a second time.
“She’s older than you; you should call her ‘sister.'”
Le Zhi crossed his arms, neither accepting nor explaining, “I don’t care; she’s my little sister, and I want to protect her.”
The instinct of sentinels to protect guides was etched into their genes, especially since this ‘little sister’ looked so young and adorable.
