Guide Her to Nowhere (NPH) - Chapter 43: Petting the Cats
Chapter 43: Petting the Cats
Qu Tang’s spiritual force training was going very poorly. By the third day, she could only move one-third of the response balls one by one, then she lost control. The remaining two-thirds of the balls were driven by her spiritual force to scatter, messing up the balls she had managed to gather at the top…
To stabilize her spiritual force and suppress the spiritual mark as soon as possible, Qu Tang exhausted her spiritual force every day, but the results were far from satisfactory. It was impossible for her not to feel discouraged.
Qu Tang placed the crystal ball on the tea table, relaxed her limbs, and lay back in the chair, closing her eyes to rest.
Overusing her spiritual force gave her a headache.
“Meow?” A cat called beside her.
Qu Tang turned her head to see the two lion cats, which had been quietly curled up in the other lounge chair, jump onto the tea table and sit side by side, looking at her as if worried and inquiring about her condition.
These past few days, these two spiritual entities had been following her, but they were very well-behaved, only occasionally “accidentally” brushing her with their tails.
Qu Tang sat up straight, wanting to pet them but remembered that the spiritual entities are connected to the sentinels’ senses and decided against it.
She released her spiritual force to envelop the two lion cats, purifying the pollution within them.
The two cats purred comfortably, one with a gold left eye and a blue right eye—Le Li’s spiritual entity—softened and lay down on the tea table. As the table was small and it was near the edge, it fell off.
Qu Tang quickly caught it.
The other cat mimicked this action and “accidentally” fell off the edge…
Qu Tang looked at the two seemingly incapacitated cats in her lap, laughing and crying at the same time.
Holding one in each hand, she petted their fluffy heads. She had to admit, the feel of the fur was really nice.
Downstairs, the two brothers playing games stiffened like their hair was standing on end, then their cheeks rapidly turned red with an astonishing speed.
This was the first time Qu Tang had actively touched their spiritual entities, and with her spiritual force no less. This feeling was unprecedented.
Their bodies seemed to lose control, both brothers lying flat on the ground like two soft, boneless cat pancakes, red-faced and humming in comfort.
Qu Tang knew when to stop; she placed the spiritual entities back on the tea table, “If you fall again, I won’t catch you.”
“Meow…” The sound was full of grievance.
“Are you treating them like children?” Yi Jin, who had appeared at the balcony entrance at some point, was holding two bottles of chilled drinks—grape juice and soda water.
“Not really.”
Who doesn’t like beautiful cats? And since they were in her hands, why not pet them? Unfortunately, their senses are shared, otherwise… cough, never mind.
Yi Jin handed Qu Tang the grape juice, “How’s the training going?”
Qu Tang shook her head, “Not ideal. I’m starting to doubt if I’m even a guide.”
Yi Jin took a sip of his soda water, lowering his eyes, then after a moment asked, “Have you tried working with your spiritual entity?”
“Yeah.” Mentioning her spiritual entity left Qu Tang feeling powerless, “But it doesn’t respond to me.”
After that dream, her spiritual entity had been so quiet it seemed like it was dead, with no movement at all.
“Hm?” Yi Jin almost choked, “Your spiritual entity doesn’t respond to you?”
“It’s been confined in my spiritual sea for five years; it must be angry.”
Although she said that, Qu Tang felt that the incident where she was scared by her spiritual entity might have hurt its feelings more.
Yi Jin laughed but quickly suppressed it, “…Sorry, I shouldn’t have laughed.” It was the first time he heard of a spiritual entity throwing a tantrum with its host.
“It’s fine, go ahead and laugh.” Qu Tang sipped her grape juice, savoring the flavor, considering one gulp was worth a month’s salary.
However, thinking about it, the sweetness of the juice would be too stimulating for sentinels. How did Yi Jin and his team manage to have this stocked?
“Looks like your primary task is to… get along with your spiritual entity. Otherwise, your subsequent training will be very difficult.”
“I know.”
Having the cooperation of a spiritual entity doubles efficiency; without it, it’s half the effort for twice the work.
However, before Qu Tang could make any progress on this primary task, Xie Li’s spiritual mark began causing trouble again.
