Guide Her to Nowhere (NPH) - Chapter 5
Chapter 5: Can I Lick You?
Qu Tang didn’t believe this was a coincidence, even if that Sentinel was a resident, it was too much of a coincidence to run into him in the elevator two days in a row.
She had been targeted by him.
Qu Tang’s fingers still retained the sensation of the polar bear’s licking…
It seemed she couldn’t work at Grandma Li’s place either.
What rotten luck.
Exhausted, Qu Tang arrived at the Shi family, and the black wolfhound was, as usual, already at the dog house before her. It wagged its tail to express its joy, but suddenly froze when Qu Tang approached.
It twitched its nose, sniffed, and let out a threatening growl.
“What’s wrong with you?” Qu Tang crouched down and tried to pet the black wolfhound’s head to soothe it, but the black wolfhound backed away, baring its teeth at Qu Tang’s hand.
Frightened, Qu Tang retracted her hand and fell back onto the grass.
The black wolfhound’s body suddenly stiffened and then dispersed like black mist, vanishing without a trace.
The danger passed, Qu Tang’s breathing gradually calmed, and she belatedly realized that the polar bear’s scent must have lingered on her hand and been detected by the black wolfhound.
With the black wolfhound gone, the three Alaskan Malamutes reverted to their true nature, circling around Qu Tang and even jumping up to pounce on her.
“Okay, okay, be good, don’t make a fuss.”
The Alaskan Malamutes’ size and weight caused Qu Tang to lose her balance, and she ended up lying on the grass.
Knowing their habits, she quickly shielded her face with one hand and tried to shoo them away with the other, “Don’t lick me!”
They weren’t spiritual bodies, so their licking would just leave her with a face full of saliva, which she didn’t want.
After a few swipes, Qu Tang noticed the three dogs had retreated back to their dog house. She moved her hand and saw Shi Xi standing quietly beside her, looking down at her, and the three dogs had shrunk back.
Due to the difference in perspective, Qu Tang felt Shi Xi was very tall, and he… was so white.
Shi Xi was wearing comfortable casual home clothes, a loose white T-shirt, and the wind in the yard blew his shirt hem, inevitably revealing a small patch of his porcelain-white abs to the recumbent Qu Tang.
Resisting the temptation, Qu Tang quickly shifted her gaze upward to meet Shi Xi’s face.
Shi Xi’s expression was unusually solemn, different from his usual demeanor.
He seemed to be angry.
Qu Tang felt anxious, and after the anxiety came irritation. She was no longer the successor of socialism, she had been corrupted by this world. Facing Shi Xi, who was a few months younger than her, she didn’t have an ounce of self-confidence, even though she hadn’t done anything wrong. Why should she lack self-confidence?
But when she thought about her social status in this world, Qu Tang’s resolute spine softened a bit.
In this Sentinel-dominated world, human society was divided into three classes: the first-class citizens were mainly the scions of prominent families, the upper echelons of the White Tower and the Elder Council, and all S-rank and above Sentinels and Guides; the second-class citizens were mainly B-rank and below Sentinels, employees of the White Tower and the Elder Council, and those with special merits who had been promoted; the third-class citizens were all the ordinary people not included in the above categories.
Qu Tang was a third-class citizen, the lowest of the low.
In the eyes of the first-class citizens, third-class citizens were as worthless as weeds.
The chasm between classes was not something that could be crossed simply by having a resolute spine.
Qu Tang was just an ordinary person, without the passionate aspirations and wisdom of a manga protagonist. She only wanted to live a peaceful and ordinary life, and as long as it wasn’t too much, she was willing to compromise.
Qu Tang had been lost in thought for quite some time when Shi Xi’s hand suddenly reached out in front of her, startling her back to reality. She hastily got up and retreated two steps, avoiding him like a venomous snake.
Shi Xi’s fine brows furrowed, and he stepped forward, grabbing Qu Tang’s arm and pulling her towards him.
Qu Tang nearly fell into Shi Xi’s embrace, but she took a half-step back. “Young Master?”
The handsome young man ignored her words.
Her arm was forced to be raised, and Qu Tang watched in horror as Shi Xi slightly lowered his head, his nose approaching her arm.
He was going to smell her.
“Let go of me!” Qu Tang strained with all her might to resist, but her full strength was nothing against a Sentinel.
Shi Xi’s nose was less than two centimeters from her skin, and she felt the soft warmth of his breath caressing her skin, slowly moving from her arm to her wrist, and then to her palm.
The areas he had breathed on felt numb and slightly itchy, and she instinctively wanted to rub them to relieve the sensation, but Shi Xi seized her hands again.
Now she was trapped, her hands caught.
The young man with half-lowered lashes finally looked up at her. His eyes were dark and bright, but the gaze was cold.
“I thought you were avoiding me because I’m a Sentinel.”
The young man gripped her hand tighter, seeming even angrier. “But on your hand, your arm… ”
The young man leaned in closer, his breath caressing Qu Tang’s earlobe and neck, “There are traces of a strange Sentinel’s spiritual body all over you.”
“So, you’re not afraid of Sentinels, are you?”
What kind of logic was that?
“No, I…” Qu Tang’s words were cut off by Shi Xi’s sudden embrace. Her slender body was enveloped in Shi Xi’s arms, like a rag doll in a child’s embrace.
Shi Xi’s face was buried in the crook of her neck, and after a moment, his slightly hoarse voice came:
“Qu Tang, Can I lick you?”
