Guide Her to Nowhere (NPH) - Chapter 50: Little Sister Said She Liked Us Very Much
Chapter 50: Little Sister Said She Liked Us Very Much
Qu Tang faced reality. She couldn’t ask for help, nor could she hesitate. She had to push forward stubbornly, but she needed to change her strategy. She couldn’t just train blindly; she had to “activate” her spiritual body as soon as possible.
But she had no clue how to “activate” her spiritual body.
That day, Yi Jin went out to meet Shen Qi, leaving her alone. Qu Tang had no choice but to go to the second floor and knock on Le Zhi and Le Li’s door.
It was hot. When they had nothing to do, the two brothers stayed in their room with the air conditioning on, playing games. A few days ago, they occasionally came out to wander, but these past two days, aside from mealtimes, they barely left. She had to take the initiative and visit them.
This was Qu Tang’s first time in the brothers’ room.
Their room was bigger than the one Qu Tang lived in alone. Besides two beds and some basic furniture, a screen hung against the wall, projecting a game in progress.
Before Qu Tang knocked, the brothers sat cross-legged in front of the screen, playing a competitive game. When they heard the knock, Le Zhi grabbed the controller and opened the door. Le Li stayed seated on the floor, turning his head toward the entrance.
“Little sister, you… what do you need us for?” Le Zhi asked, his gaze drifting.
“Yeah,” Qu Tang replied. She noticed the brothers’ unease but pretended not to. She tried to act normal, as if nothing had happened. “I have something I’d like to ask you about.”
Le Zhi’s eyes lit up. “What is it? If we can help, we definitely will.”
Their little sister had come to them for help on her own! What did that mean? It meant she was starting to accept them. This was good news!
The room had only two chairs, but the carpet in front of the screen was spacious. So, the brothers made room for Qu Tang, and the three sat in a circle on the floor.
Qu Tang chose her words carefully. “My spiritual power seems to be at odds with me. I can’t manifest it, can’t communicate with it, can’t even sense it.”
“Huh?” Both brothers were shocked to hear that her spiritual body could clash with its owner.
“A spiritual body is essentially just a physical representation of the owner’s emotions. It doesn’t have independent thoughts. How could it go against its owner’s will?” Le Zhi wondered aloud.
“No independent thoughts?”
“Yeah, I suspect the reason you can’t manifest your spiritual body is that your subconscious is resisting it, and you haven’t noticed this yourself.”
Le Li nodded. “+1.”
“Is it my subconscious resisting it?” Qu Tang repeated Le Zhi’s words, feeling he might be right.
For eighteen years since she transmigrated into this book, she hadn’t fully accepted this world. Before her father died, he told her not to manifest her spiritual body. On top of that, spiritual bodies were too Lovecraftian and frightening. With all these factors combined, she was probably resisting it indeed.
If that was true, it spelled trouble.
Could she accept a world she hadn’t embraced in eighteen years overnight? Besides, she didn’t even think manifesting a mutated spiritual body was a good thing.
Take Shen Qi, for example. Because his spiritual body was a mutation, he couldn’t request Guide comfort from the White Tower. If the White Tower discovered his anomaly, he’d either face a dead end or become a lab rat. Even as a Guide herself, her fate would likely be similar.
Seeing Qu Tang’s distress, Le Zhi comforted her. “Little sister, don’t worry too much. Maybe you just need a trigger.”
“A trigger? Something so vague—I think it’s better if I don’t get my hopes up,” Qu Tang said, propping her chin on one hand and sighing. “If only my spiritual body were a cat.”
If it were a normal animal, it’d be easier to accept and wouldn’t draw unwanted attention. That would take some pressure off.
Le Zhi and Le Li fell silent at the same time. The tips of their ears grew warm.
“Do you like cats a lot?” Le Li asked.
“Yeah,” Qu Tang answered instinctively.
She didn’t just like cats—she liked dogs too, and all fluffy animals. The safe ones she’d touch, the dangerous ones she’d admire from afar. Back when she was little, she didn’t go to amusement parks the most; she went to zoos.
The brothers’ cheeks started to flush too. They exchanged a knowing smile.
Their little sister said she liked them a lot. They were happy~
Before dark, Yi Jin returned. He brought back news—Shen Qi’s mission was almost done. He’d rejoin them in three days at the latest. When that happened, they’d need to pack up, go pick him up, and find a new place to settle.
Hearing this, Qu Tang felt mixed emotions. When she parted with Shen Qi, she thought it was forever. She assumed suppressing a spiritual imprint was simple for a Guide, just a matter of days. But a week had passed, and she’d made no progress.
Embarrassing. Humiliating.
