Guide Her to Nowhere (NPH) - Chapter 53: Was Shi Xi Crazy?
Chapter 53: Was Shi Xi Crazy?
Shi Xi’s armed helicopter flew straight into the courtyard of the Shi family’s old mansion in the Central District. The strong wind from the propellers wrecked the expensive flowers and lawn, leaving them in ruins.
“Don’t turn it off. Keep it running,” Shi Xi said as he jumped off. The wind tousled his hair, and strands fell forward. The tips brushed against his clear glasses.
His once-perfect hair was no longer neat, giving him a roguish air. This made the servants even more afraid to approach. They stood far off, faces pale, not daring to whisper.
“Young Master!” Butler Zhou, waiting outside, hurried over and whispered, “The family head is here too.”
Shi Xi nodded. After entering the living room, he first glanced at Shi Xi sitting in a single armchair before looking at the family head, Shi Tian, in the main seat.
Shi Tian’s face looked grim. With his son’s leg broken and his pricey flowers ruined, no one could muster a good expression.
Without needing an invitation, Shi Xi sat on the sofa to Shi Tian’s left. “Long time no see, Uncle. You look more spirited every day.”
“Spare me your sarcasm,” Shi Ling said coldly from across him, cutting to the chase. “You have to answer for what happened today.”
Shi Xi finally spared Shi Ling a glance, but it was just a fleeting one before his eyes settled on Shi Xi. “Xiao Xi, tell me what happened.”
Shi Xi bore marks too. His fair cheeks swelled red, and his lip was split, crusted with dried bl00d. He looked quite disheveled.
Dark circles framed his eyes, red veins streaked his whites, and his gaze flickered restlessly. His emotions were clearly unstable.
Hearing Shi Xi’s question, Shi Xi grinned at him, his mouth stretching wide. “He said I was crazy.”
Shi Tian and Shi Ling’s hearts sank. They silently cursed Shi Jia for not telling them the truth.
Shi Tian took the lead. “Just because of a verbal spat, you broke your own cousin’s leg? Does that sound reasonable?”
“Uncle, do you think Xiao Xi is crazy?” Shi Xi asked with a smile, but his eyes behind the glasses held no warmth—cold and sharp like a blade.
“It was just something Shi Jia said in the heat of the moment. They’re both kids. Why take it seriously?”
“Is Xiao Xi crazy?” Shi Xi pressed stubbornly.
“Shi Xi, what’s with your attitude? My dad’s still your elder!” Shi Ling snapped.
Shi Tian raised a hand to stop Shi Ling and said to Shi Xi, “I said it was just a heated remark. Of course he’s not.”
If anyone dared call Shi Xi crazy, Shi Xi could out-crazy him. The Shi Xi of today wasn’t the naive kid from years ago. Shi Tian couldn’t control him.
“Yeah,” Shi Xi nodded. “So, Shi Jia brought it on himself with his big mouth. What do we have to answer for?” He looked at Shi Ling. “If you’re not satisfied, you can break my leg when I call you crazy. I won’t fight back, and you won’t need to explain afterward.”
He didn’t give Shi Ling a chance to argue. He stood up. “Xiao Xi, let’s go. They’re waiting outside. If we’re late, I’m afraid Uncle’s whole garden won’t survive. Then my sins would really pile up.”
Shi Tian didn’t stop them. He let them leave.
“Dad, how could you just let them go? Chances like this don’t come often.”
“Who told Shi Jia to poke the bear and call Shi Xi crazy just for a quick thrill?”
Shi Ling fell silent. He knew, of course, that “crazy” was a trigger word for Shi Xi, a spark that ignited instantly. Because Shi Xi had truly been crazy before.
Shi Xi seemed better these past two years, but then he awakened as a Sentinel. Hah, just wait—under the torment of a Sentinel’s hypersensitive senses, he’d go mad again sooner or later.
Today, Shi Xi’s mental state already looked bad. Word was he refused Guide comfort too. It wouldn’t take long before losing control became inevitable.
