Guide Her to Nowhere (NPH) - Chapter 54: I Only Want Qu Tang
Chapter 54: I Only Want Qu Tang
On the plane, Shi Xi and Shi Xi sat facing each other. Shi Xi quietly looked down at the city below, frowning impatiently from time to time.
Was even the noise of the propellers too much to bear now?
“Tonight, I’ll arrange for a Guide to come over,” Shi Xi said.
“I don’t need a Guide. I only want Qu Tang,” Shi Xi replied without turning his head, his tone calm.
“Do you think you can hold out until we find her in your current state?”
Since Qu Tang left, Shi Xi hadn’t slept at all—not even a short nap. Otherwise, his mental state wouldn’t have worsened so quickly.
“I only want Qu Tang.”
Shi Xi felt helpless. He knew Shi Xi’s temper. If he forced a Guide to comfort him, Shi Xi would definitely kill them.
As for whether refusing comfort would lead to losing control, hah, Shi Xi didn’t care. Maybe he even wanted to lose control—so he could die.
He had always wanted to die. He was only alive now because he promised his brother he wouldn’t kill himself.
Qu Tang… a mere lowly commoner had undone all the effort Shi Xi had put into Shi Xi over the years.
You should be glad you’re already dead.
Back home, Shi Xi handed Butler Zhou a box of Sentinel tranquilizers.
“Young Master, this… are we really giving it to the young master?” Butler Zhou asked, uncertain.
Tranquilizers treated symptoms, not the cause. Their effect was limited, and the key problem was that long-term use damaged spiritual power—like a slow poison.
“Yeah,” Shi Xi said. He plugged a USB into the computer and browsed the data Shen Qi had given him.
“Why don’t we step up the search? If we find Miss Qu, the young master might get better.”
“She’s dead,” Shi Xi replied. He opened a folder labeled “Researcher List,” which contained over a dozen documents named after people.
“What?” Butler Zhou instinctively glanced at the door. Seeing it was still intact, he let out a relieved breath.
Butler Zhou’s face paled. He muttered incoherently, “How could this happen? What about the young master? He really liked Miss Qu. If he finds out… No, we can’t let him know. We can’t let him know…”
“Butler Zhou,” Shi Xi said, staring at the computer screen. “Do you remember what Qu Tang’s father was called?”
“Huh?” Butler Zhou had investigated Qu Tang, so it only took him three seconds to recall. “I think… it was Qu, Qu Changhai.”
“Qu Changhai,” Shi Xi repeated. He looked at a man’s photo on the screen. Next to it, the name was marked as Qu Changhai.
No wonder he found the man in Qu Tang’s family photo familiar when he first saw it. He had seen him before—in a group picture on the wall of Dr. Hain’s study. But the man in that photo was younger, so Shi Xi only felt a vague recognition then, not connecting the dots. Now that the name matched too, what was there to doubt?
Qu Tang’s father, Qu Changhai, was one of Dr. Hain’s capable students. And now he had another identity—one of the researchers in the Sky Eye Project.
How interesting.
It seemed he needed to dig deeper.
Yi Jin and his group changed their plan to go to District Seven. They stayed in the quarantine zone of District Six instead. They had to get Qu Tang a new identity and a new pass, or Shi Xi would track her down easily.
That night, they settled in the gathering area. First, the person who could issue the pass was there. Second, it was convenient for restocking supplies.
The evening was a victory celebration.
After every mission, the team held a celebration. In the past, they went to a random shop outside. Now, with a Guide among them, they moved the party indoors.
They stayed in a regular house arranged by an old acquaintance. It had three bedrooms, was clean and tidy, fully furnished—even the kitchen was well-equipped. Barring any surprises, they’d live there until Qu Tang got her pass.
All the dishes for the celebration were takeout from outside. There were also piles of snacks, fruit, and alcohol.
“Alcohol?” Qu Tang asked, eyeing the fruit wine in the bag with suspicion. “Can you guys drink?”
Though fruit wine wasn’t strong and didn’t burn like liquor, for Sentinels, it must still feel like swallowing knives, right?
“Of course we can,” Le Zhi said, pulling out a bottle of plum wine. “One gulp feels like swallowing fire—hot from your mouth all the way to your stomach. It’s thrilling and awesome.”
Qu Tang: “…”
It sounded like her in her past life, chugging baijiu in one go.
That was her first time drinking. What did it feel like afterward? Hmm… like she wanted another glass, because it was thrilling and awesome.
