Guide Her to Nowhere (NPH) - Chapter 61: He Likes You
Chapter 61: He Likes You
“Did he lose control?” Qu Tang asked.
His body showed spiritual body traits, which was one symptom of losing control.
Butler Zhou nodded heavily, “Yes. To slow down the young master’s loss of control, we put in a mutant body every half hour to let him release his emotions.”
“Why not find a guide?” Qu Tang asked.
“The young master refuses to accept a guide’s soothing,” Butler Zhou replied.
Qu Tang didn’t understand, “Refuses to accept? Why?”
“Don’t you know he likes you?” Shi Xi said, coming in from the door, his gaze cold and sharp under his glasses.
“Likes me?” Qu Tang looked at Shi Xi, trying to find some clue in him, but found none; he was serious.
“He said he doesn’t want a guide, only you,” Shi Xi said, finding Qu Tang’s reaction laughable, thinking Xiao Xi was both foolish and pitiful.
“The family doctor said Xiao Xi is like a sentinel who lost his matched guide. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but now it seems you awakened as a guide back in the Fourth District, didn’t you?” Shi Xi stepped closer to Qu Tang, questioning her, “Are you matched with him?”
“Of course not,” Qu Tang replied, looking up to meet Shi Xi’s gaze since he was tall. Being questioned about something as private as matching annoyed her; she glared at Shi Xi, “You’d better get this straight—it was him who forced me back then.”
Shi Xi glanced at Qu Tang, then turned to the surveillance screen, “No matter what method you use, soothe him, or you’ll die with him.”
No surprise they’re brothers, Qu Tang cursed inwardly; they’re cut from the same cloth.
“Shi Xi told me he went crazy before. Can I know the reason?” Qu Tang asked, facing an out-of-control madman soon; she couldn’t be unprepared and at least needed to avoid triggering him.
Shi Xi stayed silent, so long that Qu Tang thought he wouldn’t answer.
“If it’s difficult, you can choose not to answer,” Qu Tang said.
“It’s not difficult,” Shi Xi said in a soft, weary tone, “Do you know about sentinels eating guides raw?”
“I heard people talk about it; it happened in history,” Qu Tang replied.
“History? Ha, indeed history,” Shi Xi said, walking closer to the surveillance screen, his back to Qu Tang, “That sentinel was my father, and the guide was my mother.”
“Back then, my father suddenly lost control and tried to hurt Xiao Xi. To protect Xiao Xi, my mother forcibly soothed my father, and the result was as you heard—my mother failed, and my father…” Shi Xi paused for a long time, “Xiao Xi was only six then, watching from the side. After that, he went crazy.”
The person behind him didn’t respond; Shi Xi turned and saw Qu Tang staring at him with wide eyes, full of shock and disbelief.
“Don’t believe it?” Shi Xi asked.
Qu Tang snapped back, shaking her head, “No, it’s just unexpected.”
Qu Tang recalled what Shi Xi told her—he said no other sentinel could touch her, or he’d kill her and eat her piece by piece.
Now it seemed Shi Xi wasn’t just making threats; there was a deeper reason, though she didn’t know what mood he was in when he said it.
Qu Tang asked Butler Zhou, “How is he now? Is it a good time to soothe him?”
Butler Zhou nodded quickly, “It’s only been eight or nine minutes since the last mutant body was put in; now is the right time.”
“Take me there,” Qu Tang said, following Butler Zhou a few steps, then turning to look at Shi Xi, who stood still, “You come with me. If he doesn’t recognize me and tries to hurt me, you have to protect me fully. After all, I’m your only hope, aren’t I?”
Shi Xi didn’t deny it.
Shi Xi was on the third basement level, right under their feet.
Qu Tang walked down the stairs to the door of the third level. Butler Zhou pressed a switch on the wall, and after the door opened, there was another iron gate, which didn’t stop the sticky air mixed with a foul stench and negative emotions from rushing at her.
Caught off guard, Qu Tang stumbled back a step.
The third basement level was large; she was at least ten or twenty meters from Shi Xi, yet she felt a manic aura from him several times stronger than when she was close to Yi Jin back then.
She struggled to control her emotions, not letting Shi Xi affect her, suppressing her unease, “Open the door.”
